West Virginian Livin
United States
Приєднався 20 жов 2019
There is no way to describe exactly what we do on this channel. I love to explore my amazing state of West Virginia and surrounding areas. I love photography, gardening, traveling, exploring, doing food reviews, and talking. I not only love showcasing West Virginia but also the Ohio Valley as that is where i live. Ohio is right across the river from us and Pennsylvania is a little over a hour north of us so be prepared for videos from any of them. I love adventure and that is exactly what life is so welcome to mine.

Canon 90d and Mavic Air 2 Photos
I know I said I wasn’t gonna release any more videos this year. @thetravelingunderwood is probably laughing at that statement. To be honest I still don’t plan to put much out the rest of this year. If I feel up to it I’ll put out a video explaining my thoughts. For now, enjoy these odds and end photos taken since January. Most have never been in a video.
I feel like I’ve progressed some since January with the camera. Still lots to learn with the camera itself.
Anyways I hope you all enjoy this short photo video.

The Near Abandoned Town of Thurmond, West Virginia
Переглядів 461День тому
This is my final video for the year at least. Recently Brent and I headed to the near abandoned town of Thurmond West Virginia. This has been a bucket list destination for Brent. I’ve wanted to go there for a while now too. It did not disappoint. We also got to see some sweet looking waterfalls on Dunloup Creek. So with the lack of growth on this channel, lack of comment activity, a full time j...

There are 17 covered bridges in West Virginia. We decided to hunt down some of them. We got to see 6 of them on this trip. Stay tuned as we head out over the next year to see the other 11. #westvirginia #history
I Grow Hot Peppers
Переглядів 11821 день тому
This video is not intended to be advertising. The intent of this video is to show just how amazing hot pepper plants look. From the foliage to the blooms and of course the peppers themselves. I’ve grown hot peppers for 15 years now and still love it. And I love photographing them even more.

In late August Nathan and I hit the road for a couple days. Our first day adventure was in Cathedral State Park here in West Virginia. We both had a lot of fun hiking around the park and snagging a lot of pictures. In three days i will release all the photos in video form on here. Keep an eye out for that. And go to wvtourism.com if you're interested in checking out this amazing park. Check out...

Wind, Lightning, Thunder, and Rain. Hallelujah
Переглядів 77Місяць тому
We just had a massive storm rip through the Ohio Valley. New Martinsville skated the worst of it but still got a taste of it. This was much needed rain. The wind, lightning, and thunder provided some entertainment. This was definitely a hallelujah moment. #westvirginia #storm

A Glance At Berkeley Springs WV

We did a quick glance around of Berkeley Springs West Virginia on our way to the Berkeley Castle. I've been to this town many times over the years and love it. If you'd like to see a walk through of this town check out @thetravelingunderwood channel. He did a video here not so long ago. #travel #westvirginia
Nathan’s Talent Show Performance
Переглядів 812 місяці тому
Nathan has a love for playing that guitar. So much that as I type this he’s in his room playing his heart out. This past year he branched out and has been learning to sing. Our fair has a talent show so he decided to put himself out there. This is the first time he’s played solo. While it didn’t go the way he hoped in the end it built his confidence and had him on an adrenaline high. I know I’m...

Great video.
Thanks Homie
Yes I am laughing somewhere. My head was ready to explode 😂.
😂😂😂
Great collection this round. Hope you're doing well.
Thank ya. It’s been rough the last few days but I’m getting through it. 5.5 more weeks of no weight on it. Then in a boot and therapy.
Those are some great photos Dave, I especially love the lightning shot!
Thanks Tim. That one was pure luck catching it. But that definitely is the best one I’ve ever got.
Always look forward to your videos and still photographs. These were a real joy to watch! Thanks, again!
Thank you. So glad you enjoy them. And I’m very grateful for the support you’ve shown.
Hmmmm no more videos this year. 😂. Great video.
😂😂😂 I promise this is it for now. I have nothing else.
I found another one. Lol. I could put the photos up from Cathedral again.
Great video. I need to get back there.
@@thetravelingunderwood Thanks Broski. I wanna go back to explore the creek. It’s absolutely gorgeous.
@@westvirginianlivin9871 It is an amazing waterway. The waterfall there is incredible and I know there are more.
Nice video of what was a bustling community, thanks to the Chesapeake & Ohio Railway. It was a major refill stop for steam lcomotives, that changed with deisel engines. Several hundred once lived there. Sorry to hear you're done for the year. Looking forward to great things in 2025.
@@pgh45rpms Thank ya Sir. Yeah it wasn’t an easy decision but I also have foot surgery this coming week that’s putting me down for a bit.
@@westvirginianlivin9871 Keep you in prayer. Quick healing
@@pgh45rpmsThank you. I would prefer a complete healing before I go in though. 😁
Cool video Dave, you took some great shots! I heard it’s a train lovers paradise, it’s on my bucket list. The guy who was in my last video has a channel called The Tolle Road, made a video a while back of Thurmond. He does travel videos too.
@@buckeyeguy82 Thanks Tim. That’s awesome I’ll check his channel out. Man we wanting running to get in place for a pic when we heard the train coming. Lol.
Great video! I haven’t been back home in about 20 years now but I’m hoping next year I can make it out to WV for a few weeks and go revisit all these places.
@@shushmebro3845 Thank you and you must get back here. 😁
Thurmond WV is a Train Lovers and a Foamers Paradise. It's a "MUST" on most people's list to see and film some Trains. This place used to be Bustling and the home of the Longest Poker Game ever. Went on for years. Super Nice Video Dave. I'm Jealous. I still have to make my 1st Visit there.
@@jebbthetrainkid1281 let me know when you wanna go. I’ll go with you. I’d love to go in the spring to get the waterfalls again on Dunloup Creek
From Oceana and currently living in Martinsburg. I was curious what Pickens looked like because this is the area that got 57 inches of snow one time and there are less than 100 people living there or at least that’s what the census says.
Covered bridges are just an amazing piece of architecture and purpose. I truly enjoyed this video here and imagine what they would look like in Winter, covered with snow. Thanks for putting this together as I really enjoyed it!
You’re welcome. If I can pull it off we’ll heading out to get at least one of them in snow. Hopefully!
Those are some beautiful covered bridges! You captured some great pictures too!
Thanks Tim. I really hope we can pull off seeing all 17 in the next year.
Dang Dave you gotta get the West Virginia Slang down Brother lol Those Covered Bridges are Awesome. Especially the ones you can actually drive thru.
Lol. I know it. My wife and Ed both educated me after that trip. I agree, I love the ones you can drive through. I really really like Dents and Barrackville for photos but I wish they was still operating.
I like the covered bridges that allow traffic to cross. I don't know of any covered bridges in my vicinity. There is one in my grandmother;s home town of Princeton (Bureau County) IL. Monongalia is pronounced "mon-on-GAY-lee-uh."
@@pgh45rpms I agree. I love the ones you can drive through. Supposedly there’s one just over the wv/Pa border off of I70. Can’t remember the town. We’re gonna check that one out eventually. Yeah I found out after the trip how to pronounce it. My wife and Ed both corrected me. Lol
Glad you finally made it to this park. Great video.

Great pictures. These definitely shows your passion of peppers and also of photography.
@@thetravelingunderwood Thank ya. Next years garden will be all about the photo sessions.
Beautiful park and those trees look pretty big too! There's a youtube channel I watch called America's Parks where a family hikes national parks around the country.
@@buckeyeguy82 Nice. I’ll check that channel out.
Definitely a great little State Park. Been there many times. There used to be the Biggest Tree in the Park at the far side of the Picnic Area. Cool Springs has some great tasting foot long hotdogs with sauce. Any Bigfoot Tracks?
@@jebbthetrainkid1281 Cool Springs hot dogs are awesome. They have pretty good burgers too. No tracks. We did see deer and bear tracks.
@westvirginianlivin9871 Nice. We are going to Deep Creek in several Weeks. I need to check out and see if there has been any Bigfoot Sightings near there. If so I'll get me a good Tree Knocking Stick and take. Your Son is like my Son. When he finds a a nice Stick he thinks he has to bring it home lol. Must be a New Martinsville Thing.
"Walk softly but carry a big stick" Beautiful park... sny wild animals?
Surprisingly we didn’t. I figured we’d at least see a deer. 😂 We seen signs of them and bear but no sightings.
Love the video and the bridge is the perfect backdrop.
Yeah that bridge is awesome as a backdrop.
A great stop. Always love walking through this.
So glad we stopped there.
@@westvirginianlivin9871 We need to get back over there.
Funny you should mention this: I just had one of these monsters the other morning. Could not believe that came out of me, yikes, didn't need to measure it. Glad that is over with!
😂😂😂😂
Wow, what a nice place to listen to their music. The stone bridge in the background is very impressive.
Yeah the owner and I was talking about that being an amazing backdrop.
Sounds great!
Very impressive back water southern music music!
Yeah we like them
Very nice
If you like garlic butter, you HAVE to try CRUST Pizza in south hills pgh. It is absolutely addicting. Garlic butter on everything.
@@PepperoniRollBandit Nice. I’ll try them out next time we’re up there. Thanks.
I’d never heard of Smithfield WV before, only Smithville in Richie county. I had to google it. Smithfield has lost about 86% of its population, from a max of 765 in 1910 to just over 100 currently.
Great video of a wonderful village. The log homes and the flowers look very nice. Pottery and stone ware are my favorites to collect. Gotta get over there someday soon.
@@Electra225 It is such a beautiful place. You would definitely enjoy it.
Cool find, I love old villages like this!

@@stroganoff2917 Thank you
Wow, you got a nice setup there going on. I have had a garden for years and this year was not the best. I want to think that with the extreme heat and downpours of rain we had threw everything out of whack. But lettuce, potatoes and tomatoes came in nicely. Any little bit of yield helps so I am thrilled with what I got out of the garden this year. I am exploring the idea of putting up a greenhouse; this way, I can do things all year round and not have to deal with bending over so much to weed and whatnot. Gardening is so much fun that I don't know why more people do not want to get involved with it. Nice job there!
Great photos you have here. Wow, you could not have had better weather for a fair, but then again, even a bad weather day makes a fair a bunch of fun.
I can't say how happy I was to finally get into the castle. Thank you for going. It was worth the 30 year wait for me.
@@thetravelingunderwood We was pumped that you took us with you. Not only was it awesome to experience the castle but to see you geek out too. Lol
Wow, such a beautiful castle! That game table is very interesting too.
@@buckeyeguy82 I would’ve loved to see it opened up.
That game table is a…maze…ing
@@kathrynvincent5226 I agree. That was one of the highlights for me. It was built in and imported from Spain.
Nice video of this wonderful castle there in WV. I can just imagine the Christmas holiday celebrations and New Year's Eve parties they had there. To think that all of those stones were hand cut and laid as you see it. Definitely a gem to behold!
@@Electra225 Totally agree. It definitely had me marveling. They have something going on in the fall and they do stuff there the week leading up to Christmas. We talked about heading over for that.
Very very scenic.
