Mark W and Rob Bob Present
United States
Приєднався 10 вер 2013
Gaming in both electronic and dead-tree forms! I'm Mark W and I primarily run the channel, but sometimes my son "Rob Bob" joins in as co-host. We do both videos and live streams. I have a natural bent towards classics/retro/oldies, but that's certainly not all I'm into! I also have a leaning towards esoteric and underappreciated goodies.
Streaming schedule:
SATURDAY NIGHT GAMING WITH MARK W AND ROB BOB: Often streamed with Rob Bob, in these weekly streams pretty much anything goes! One week the subject could be a recent video game, the next an old one, and after that a board game or gamebook. Saturday nights at 9:15pm Eastern Time. (Video games lean toward PC games in my Steam collection.)
MARK W PLAYS OLD GAMES ON A THURSDAY: Old school emulated video games! Thursday nights at a variable time, but I try to aim for 8:30pm Eastern Time.
Streams are very casual and all about the chat, hanging out and fun. Hope to see you there! :D

Alright! My man Mark is back with RobBob for us to enjoy our Saturday night. Now to sit back and enjoy the action from you guys. I got the soda pop to enjoy this. 8^) Anthony..
Oh wow! Star Raiders for the Atari 8-bit computers. i haven't played this game in over 30 years Mark. Great to see it added to your playlist. Now to sit back and enjoy the action from you bro. 8^) Anthony..
It’s still a great game, Anthony. Hope you enjoy the vid!
Sehr gut
Lot of nostalgia here. Fun times. 😃
Oh wow! That's great to know Mark. My favorite Twilight Zone episode is "Will the real martian please stand up" When a martian was in the diner and sneaked onto the bus in the end. Glad you're having a fun day bro. 8^) Anthony..
That's a good one! Just now the one with Shatner in the plane came on! A huge classic!
Hi Mark, Wishing you and the family a Happy 4th of July. Always a pleasure to see you in action and never a dull moment seeing the latest videos for us to enjoy from you brother man. 8^) Anthony..
You too, Anthony! We're having a low-key but nice 4th! My wife and I grilled some burgers and dogs, and now we're hanging around watching the Twilight Zone marathon until the neighbors light up the sky. 😄

@@puzzud wow thanks!! I ought to do this for every multi-game stream.
I didn’t catch this stream until later, but watching what i missed now, you literally finally did the double jump you needed to play Risky Rescue exactly as you were saying you didn’t know how to, so giving up, and weren’t paying attention to what you did @12:44. lol . Laughed hard when I saw that. The irony. lol
@@dangomez28 😄 I did catch myself going up two tiles but wasn’t able to move left. 😖
Oh so infuriatingly close, yet still maddeningly so far. Lol. 👍🏼
This looks interesting Mark. I don't think I ever seen this before. But it does have a nice looking front cover insert to grab your attention. This will be fun to see from you Mark. 8^) Anthony..
Did you know that you could move YOUR PT boat to the other player's island and park it in THEIR port...then they wont be able to create a fishing boat.
Oh yeah, I think I forgot about that! I actually have a feature on my feature list for a remake (that I may or may not actually complete) related to boat placement. You can build docks wherever you want on your island's coast, and choose at which dock a new boat will be built.
@@MarkWandRobBobPresent That's a good idea - multiple docks! I seem to also remember that you could actually move your boat onto the island. It took some tinkering, but it was a glitch where the boat became somewhat land worthy. I don't remember if you could park it on the land (probably not), and there was no real reason to do this, just for the glitches sake.
Thanks for this.
I just got up to start the new day with Mark in action. Perfect way to start the day right for sure Mark. Now to sit back and have my morning coffee brother man. 8^) Anthony..
Enjoy, my man!
Hi Mark, What's new with you bro. I'm trying to beat this heat were having. I was in Long Island yesterday in Deer Park at the P.C. Richard & Son outlet/clearance location branch to try to save money for a floor model A/C wall unit for our apartment to save some moolah with the family. Sadly, they didn't have any good deals for a unit. 8^/ Welp, I'll be back locally to buy a new box unit A/C wall unit instead in the Bronx instead.. Anthony..
Hope you can find an AC at the price you deserve!
Where is part vii?
Gutten tag
Oh wow! RimWorld. Great to see it back onto your channel Mark. I remember being amazed by this game and had to try this out myself. Excellent to see it again from you brother man. 8^) Anthony...
Oh man! It's well worth the price on purchasing it bro. You'll love it. I've been reading the edition like I use to growing up on my bed like the days of his B&W books. Garfield surely brings the kid out of me Mark. 8^) Anthony..
Hi Mark, Mark have you been to Barnes & Noble or your local magazine stand? The reason why I ask is that there's a great LIFE Magazine edition that you'll be really interested in regarding on Garfield. I purchased a copy for myself and loved it bro. I think you'll be thrilled to read what's inside. Anthony..
No! Maybe I'll check it out next time I'm near a B&N. Thanks for the heads-up!
An awesome Lord-like game was LUNATIC
I remember that! Lunatix. The maker held a contest to make the best add-on modules for it using his scripting language called LunScript. Must’ve been 1997. I made a few, and one of mine won second place. It was called Chou’s Eggroll Emporium. It was a place where you could eat eggrolls, play “three eggroll Monty” or sumo wrestle an opponent of varying levels. Kinda had random Asian-themed stuff thrown together, even if it didn’t make sense, with silly humor. It was named after a friend with the last name Chou. It was probably a bit culturally insensitive in retrospect, but I justified it because my Asian friend thought it was funny, plus South Park and its brand of humor was a fairly new thing. Also, let's face it, I was just young and dumb. :) I was slightly annoyed that the #1 prize went to a module about going to a brothel. IIRC, all you did was you picked a door, it displayed an ANSI drawing of a lady of the night, and you got stuff. That’s it. But I’m over it, hah. Another I made was called Break the Bank in which you had to guess the bank vault’s three-digit combination to win a lot of money. There were clues you could accumulate with repeated visits to narrow it down. (Such as - “the second digit is always odd” or something like that.)
Before there was WoW, there was LORD!
WOW! Digital Edition Mark?! That's awesome to know bro. This will certainly be a great way to cure my Monday Blues seeing you in action. Looks like a well made game. I just came in and will be having my dinner seeing you in action brother man. 8^) Anthony..
MEIN GOTT IM HIMMEL!!!
Oh wow! What a great choice with Thunder Force III. This will be fun to see from you Mark. Now to sit back and enjoy the action from you brother man. 8^) Anthony..
Nice one dude! Love this and M.U.L.E! Keep it up bro!
Loved this game! I spent hours playing this. I really liked the music too.
4:29 HOW DID THIS AIR?? Our boy is out of his mind
Yeahhhhhyy wooorrrdddd! I remember this coming on before school 🥰
YES!YES!YES! The Atari 7800! What a great underrated unit this is Mark. Thank you for taking my request and will surely be enjoying this for you bro. Sorry I wasn't available to be part of the stream Mark. I was really sleepy and turned in early. But I'll make it up to you next time bro. 8^) Anthony..
Did you see how close I came to finishing Ninja Golf? I must get my revenge on those evil ninjas...
What was the point of this game?
You are a wizard attempting to attack and defeat an evil necromancer. On level 1, shown here, you are planting seeds to grow your army of trees for the attack. Ogres and spiders try to destroy them. The more trees you are able to grow and protect on this level, the more you have for the subsequent levels.
Welp, realized just now I made a mistake with 15A. Not gonna change it now! I got a unique room, heh!😅 I also found that after 1 character death, and running my level 2 character through the Frog run, I want to play a different adventure.
I have a few adventures for Tunnels and Trolls. I feel this might help me feel batter after the disappointment pf the last game I played.
Gee Mark, I never seen this before bro. This looks really interesting. I'm going to enjoy the video to find out for myself how good this game is with our pal Rob Bob for sure. Thank you for sharing this with us Mark, I learned something new today. 86) Anthony..
It's a pretty neat game, but I'm still getting the hang of it. 😄 Rob Bob couldn't join me however.
What a great way to start my morning right seeing Mark's video first. Great way to cure my boring Tuesday....Well, at least it's better than Monday. (lol). Thank you for sharing your works as always brother man. 8^) Anthony..
Hi Mark, Had a fantastic time participating with the stream bro. I shared the video up on the Neo-Geo thread for others to view and enjoy . Thank you as always and really appreciate you taking the time to commemorate the 10th anniversary of The Official NEO-GEO Thread kind sir. 8^) Anthony..
Thanks for stopping by! It was a blast having you in the chat, Anthony!
Alright!! Great to see my man Mark back in action. Now to sit back and enjoy your great gaming skills in action brother man. Hope you and your family had a great Easter Mark. 8^) Anthony..
Thank you Anthony! Hope you enjoy watching the weird and obscure games I played last night, and hope you too had a good Easter!
1:22 Trump!!!
cool game, thanks for helping me understand the game better
Glad it was helpful and thanks for watching! Definitely an interesting game. This was my first time playing, but I may revisit it.
Hi Mark, Guess what bro? Today marks the 10th Anniversary of, The Official NEO-GEO Thread. ZFeel free to celebrate and party down with us bro. We would love to have you aboard. 8^) Anthony..
Awesome, Anthony! Say, if life calms down a bit for be (I’ve had to skip a lot of streams) I’ll do a Neo Geo stream in honor of the thread this week.😄
Ah, now the light dawns! Thank you for reminding me Mark. 8^) Anthony..
Hmmm. Now why does this game rings a bell. I know I heard it somewhere Mark. But I can't put my finger on when exactly. Oh well, I'll come to mind....In the meanwhile, I'm having fun seeing your in action with it. 8^) Anthony..
I streamed it a few times before, Anthony, so maybe that’s where you remember it from. 😃 It’s a unique and quite fun game!
Mark W and Rob Bob’s tunnels and trolls play-through videos are like a rosetta Stone for the game, to see how it’s actually played, on paper, looking rules up along the way, as was done in the good “oooooold days”. I’m playing my first tnt game in Buffalo Castle (I bought the actual paperback on eBay) and using this City of Terrors play-through as my guide. It was good to see how we should not be afraid to be killed by the game. I think there’s an attitude in OSR that your character must die, and that (ironically) it won’t be the end of the world.
Glad the videos could help! Hope at least one brave warrior of yours survived good ol' Buffalo Castle. ☺
@@MarkWandRobBobPresent I rolled up a dwarf warrior who was an “assassin candy maker” with low luck. I got stuck behind a swinging pendulum that badly damaged my CON, so I took my treasure and ran for the exit. Now my dwarf is a rich coward. But he’s alive. I’m guessing this means I cannot use him again for the Buffalo Castle adventure?
@@gleemonexrx I say - send him in again if that’s what you want to do. I don’t see any reason why that would be game breaking. 😁
@@MarkWandRobBobPresentmy coward dwarf ran off. I’m going to store him away since he was my first tnt character. I rolled up many more characters trying to get past that troll near the entrance. 25% survived. Perhaps more would have been survived had they remembered their training about the additional hit dice for their warrior perk. I wish the deluxe rulebook had a condensed version of the rules without the filler. Sort of like how Old School Essentials restated basic dnd.
@@gleemonexrx yeah that’s why I wrote those notes on my homemade character sheet - it’s hard to remember every tidbit. But you know what - that’s a great idea to make something like a one-pager that contains all that key information!
That was really enjoyable, once again. I hope that you will keep these coming, especially with more recent solo adventures (possibly some of the tavern master offerings). It might be worthwhile considering using the berserker rules, either as a stunt, or ‘for real’. Sid Orpin wrote a good article on stunts in one of the troll zine books that is also worth considering. Use of a modified ‘double strike’, for example, would have been a good stunt for speedy González to have had in his arsenal.
Yeah perhaps I should've considered Berserk for this stream's character (his name is eluding me right now, heh). I actually assumed he was too smart, but I just looked up the IQ threshold for going Berserk and it's 16. Could've sworn it was lower. Oh well! For González though, he had much greater adds (50-something) and fewer dice, so berserk very likely would've been a loss for him. Sid's options sound promising. I'll have to check them out! I do own several Tavernmaster solos, and most recently I ordered The Skyship of Lord Orink. I agree that one of those would be a great candidate for a stream. Those guys seem to be true fans. :) Thanks for watching the video, Steve, and glad you enjoyed it!
@@MarkWandRobBobPresent I would recommend ‘The Legends of Ogul-Duhr - Halls of the Gorgon’ by Andy Holmes as a good starting point. It is atmospheric, highly mappable (if that is a word), and is survivable by a good level 1 or 2 character. From memory, there is only a couple of ‘instant deaths’ and even those are quite fun - not just ‘bad move, you are dead’ but leave you thinking that it was your fault for making a dumb choice.
@@steveallen239 cool! Looks like I have the PDF of that one.
@@MarkWandRobBobPresent going back to stunts for your Speedy González, I was thinking along the lines of him having 4 available stunts available to him, one for each level:- 1) Double Strike - can only be used against 2 or more simultaneous opponents. A successful L2SR on SPD means that he gets 2 rounds of attack (double the dice but adds only count once). Failure means he takes Spite damage of the amount by which he misses his saving roll. Fumble means he takes the Spite hits, and also loses his combat adds for that round. 2) Triple Strike - same as double strike, but can only be used against 3 or more simultaneous opponents, requires a L4SR on SPD. Allows him to roll 3 lots of dice, but adds only count once. 3) Quadruple Strike - as double and triple against 4 or more opponents and requires L8SR on SPD. Gives 4 attacks and 1 adds, but failure means a lot of Spite damage if he fails the roll! 4) Strong Block - requires L2SR on STR and adds 2D6 to armour plus the amount by which the SR exceeds the target (25 in this case). Failure means armour loses its effect by the amount by which the SR was missed. Fumble means armour is totally ineffective this round. These are all based on Sid’s article, but I picked them for Speedy, because I figured that they would be fun, in character stunts that give him a vague chance of surviving disagreements with Orcs and Ogres.
@@steveallen239 Hmm neat rules. :) One of my half-baked ideas somewhat resembles Strong Block, but my idea was it would require having a shield equipped, to encourage shield use at least a bit.
Just got up with a fresh cup of coffee to start my morning right seeing Mark in action. Now to have a Yum-Yum Breakfast to go along with it. Great way to start my Sunday for sure bro. 8^) Anthony..
Is Yum-Yum a restaurant? Or do you just mean the food was yummy. 😄 In any case, thanks for watching as always, my man!
Just came in to see my man Mark in action with Ultima IV Part 8. Over 3 hrs+ of you in action bro. Sounds perfect to me. 8^) Anthony...
Cya
Wow! Steve Jackson Games. I heard they have some really great books to read and glad you shared this with us Mark. I think I had one of their board games gorging up as well bro. Nice to see this from you as always. 8^) Anthony..
Nice. Do you remember which one it might've been? I played a lot of Illuminati as a kid. 😄
Very cool to see this solo read done! i think City of Terrors was the 2nd solo I ever played. I was probably 1979 and the first one was Buffalo Castle. Little did I know at the time that many years later (in 2014) I would do the digital coloring for the City of Terrors reissue when we did the dT&T rulebook. Liz Danforth gave me a color rough and oversaw my progress and I also sent it to Rob Carver for his feedback. It was a great honor to give that wonderful wraparound illustration new life as a color cover!
You did a great job on the coloring! Thanks for the comment, Steve, and thanks for all the great and hard work you've done on T&T over the years. 😃
You're welcome! Mike Stackpole & I recently both wrote something for the new Grimtooth's Old School Traps book for Goodman Games. Ken St Andre and I are continuing to create new rpg solos for the Monsters! Monsters! Rpg, so all these years later, we are still creating solos and adventures!
Alright!!!! More Ultima action with my pal Mark. Just in time since I just came in. Now THIS is how you enjoy a Friday evening. Just took out a cold Pepsi to enjoy this from you bro. 8^) Anthony..
Enjoy the stream and that Pepsi, Anthony! Hey, the Neo Geo thread anniversary is coming up, right? I'll have to do a special stream for that!
all of the skills are from lemmings 2: the tribes.
