I'm watching this with the advantage of hindsight, in August of 2021. As a young firefighter, I was enthralled with your book "Report From Engine Co. 82" and grew to respect you immensely. I do hope you have changed your mind about Trump and Ted Cruz. Trump is nothing more than a cheap con artist, an assaulter and degrader of women, and one of the most prolific liars I have ever seen in my lifetime. Cruz is not worth mentioning; but anyone who would allow Trump, or anyone else for that matter, to personally attack his family, and then, kiss Trump's ass after he became President isn't a man in my book. I had thought better of you, Mr. Smith. Please say it ain't so...

Whether you do, or do not share his views from a political perspective Dennis is one of the kindest and most humane representatives of one of the noblest professions. He always conducted his public persona as a man dedicated to the principles of honesty and selfless integrity par excellence. Having men of this caliber on your rig must have been an enriching experience for all with whom he served. An honorable, decent and forthright representative of first responders everywhere. Good to see, and hear you again Brother Firefighter. I wrote to you in the 70's, shortly after reading 82. I asked your advice about writing, as I was writing about firefighters as well as a Firefighter outside of Philadelphia, working alone in the firehouse daily as a Paid Driver/FF. That lasted until we were able to Unionize, and become city employee's via the IAFF. Hope you see this, and remember how you told me "Never give up, no matter what!" It was a simple postcard, which I still have today. GOD BLESS. And, thanks for the Non-lecture. MAGA.

In Nov 2016 I had the choice between a brash loudmouth and a totally CORRUPT, entitled woman. I chose Trump and I am happy that he has tried to keep his promises despite constant attacks by the BIASED media and Hollywood elitists. Dennis Smith is totally correct about the media and it's left-wing BIAS. They bury stories critical of liberals and gin up stories critical of conservatives.Why hasn't Democrat NYC DA Cyrus Vance Jr. charged Harvey Weinstein when there are many credible witnesses? Why did NBC news honcho Noah Oppenheim try to spike that story? Why does Oppenheim still have his job? Why hasn't the media asked these questions? The BIASED, DISHONEST media is the biggest problem in America today.

You sir, are the reason, from your book back in 1972, (I was age 12), that sealed the deal for me to become a firefighter. I can never thank you enough for all you did for the fire service. God Bless you Sir.

Dennis, About Kasich. As a 35 yr ghetto firefighter, our governor tried to strip all of our pensions away from us through Senate Bill 5. He really isn't the firefighter's friend. At all. Some may say I'm a single issue voter, but it is an issue that devastated a lot of us. Thankfully through unions banding together, the voters stopped it.

Mr Smith ... you were one of my biggest idols growing up on the West Coast...I read Report from Engine Co. 82 when I was 12 years old from start to finish in about 3 days... I had the good fortune of meeting you at Ground Zero in March of 2002 when I was staying with E33/L9 while dropping off money we raised in Southern California for the FDNY after 9/11... Your wit and grit led me to a career in law enforcement to this day, where I have 32 years with the LAPD that went by in the blink of an eye.
