Just look after your record's i dont mean be perfect my wife scratched one of my classical records it goes across round and the record she did it while moving the record she didn't stop it or pause it just dragged the arm across needle bent to the right slightly and a scratched record...

Super helpful older brother guidance. Much appreciated. I'm getting close to pulling the trigger on one of the newer iSonic RCMs, CS6.2-PRO. I'm really trying to figure out what's behind the kilohertz (kHz) of ultrasonic RCMs transducers. The iSonics cavitate at 49 kHz; Humminguru at 40 kHz; Degritter and KLaudio at 120-135 kHz; and PVF's custom builds at 220 kHz! I know you said it doesn't matter to you, but can the effect of varying cavitation frequency on vinyl really be arbitrary or irrelevant? I'm trying to answer that because it should tell me whether there's a meaningful correlation between transducer frequency and product cost.

I’ve started using a little photflow in my record cleaning solution and after I clean records I’m noticing a skip hear and there on my new flea market finds and in the past as long as there’s no scratch I’ve never had skips. The photflow might be damming up my dust deep in the grooves. Just a theory.

It's funny cause I've listened to this album and seen this photo a million times and always wondered, but never thought to look into who it was until today. Despite the wild circumstances behind it its a very iconic album art that fits the bill perfectly. It will always take me back to that early 2000's Instagram era of hipster music when I see it!

The artist is Mark Ryden and he illustrated album cover art for about 10 years before he transitioned to exclusively doing gallery shows. He did album covers for several musical artists like Jeff Beck, The Red Hot Chili Peppers and Michael Jackson.

So, recently had to buy one of these because my entire record collection got warped due to heatwave and the storage area getting to 97 degrees. Which is important for everyone to note that records WILL WARP without direct heat, even ambient air temps in a dark, dry room will warp records at measly 95 degrees. Question abt the record flatter - is it more dangerous to increase the time duration or temperature? For example, is it safer to put 6 hours at 120 or 2 hours at 135?

Well to not use distilled or even more purified water is absolutely a mistake. You’re going to leave mineral deposits on to the record surface which will create noise and the mineral deposits are corrosive if left on any surface. So really bad idea to not use at the very least distilled water I even recommend a even more purified water which absolutely removes all the minerals and contaminates in the water and that is Ultra Pure water which is medical grade water used to clean surgical and medical tools. Not cheap but it makes sense to keep records for a long time

The word mixtape has changed over time. In hip hop and r&b, it usually refers to a project intended to build hype and interest before an artist releases an album. Or it can be something an established artist releases in between albums, to give something to fans while they wait, and/or because they want to put something out without the pressure of calling it an album. Also it makes it easier to put songs with samples difficult to clear on there, as mixtapes tend to be put out as a free download. An easy way to think of the term is it being a starter to a main (the main in this analogy would be an album). Mixtapes, in regards to the modern usage of the word, was more of a thing in the mid-late 2000s, and going into the 2010's. In grime too, grime music from the UK (in its early days) was more mixtape oriented, and based around pirate radio sets. Mixtapes seem to be less of a thing these days. I think with words, it is more usage than an inherent fixed meaning, that dictates things. If a word means something at one point in time, but is used by enough peoples in a different way over time, the meaning shifts accordingly to how usage of it evolved over a time frame. The same thing happened or is happening with how the word freestyle is used in rap. Or in words being reclaimed by marginalised groups, like the q in LGBTQ was a pejorative term, but has now been resignified.

Personally i would never use an ultrasonic cleaner on my records, it seems like using a sledgehammer to crack a nut - just a gentle dip and brush in a tried and trusted solution and allowed to dry naturally does it for me, perfectly clean records every time and no risk of damage.

Interesting I'm going to have to try this because I have one small skip in the beginning of roll me away on my copy of the distance by Bob seger and that album isn't an album that is super valuable or hard to find if I did screw it up
