    I always feel like it was strange for lorelai to tell chris not give up sleeping on benches in paris. Wouldnt you want your man with you why would you push him away. Maybe she didnt really love him and getting pregnant made her realize that. Or she felt guilty being pregnant meant the couldnt sneak to Paris. I do feel she kind of pished chridtopher away but christopher shouldve been a man from start and worked hard to earn the trust of lorelai and his daughter. His parents did not instill that in him it shows and its sad. 😔

    Lorelei has always been mad. To be honest, I love Gilmore girls as a show, but I honestly don't even see the point of why Lorelei had to be the way she was growing up and finally as an adult, I don't think she deserved her parents to be honest

    Gotta love Richard here. He sits there listening to everyone’s hysterics and abuse, when someone finally asks what the solution is, he stands up declares what the plan is and ends the discussion. Be more like Richard.

    I just love how Christopher was willing to actually marry Lorelai and sacrifice his plans of going to Europe and traveling around to be with her and support her. Looking at clips like these really does show you that Lorelai had no plan whatsoever. I mean, marriage at a young age I can get, it's a no in my book. I mean, it's her choice for sure but at the same time, at least Emily and Richard had a plan. Having Christopher stay with them and work at Richard's firm until he finished college or whatever didn't seem like such a bad plan. I mean, it was more of a plan than Lorelai had, which was none. She had no plan at all. She was willing to just "figure it out", instead of actually coming up with a reasonable plan that would benefit her and her baby (Rory) just fine. I understand that Richard and Emily weren't the best parents in the world, hell they weren't perfect but nobody is truly perfect in this world and I'm sure that Lorelai wasn't the best daughter either. She made a choice to have unprotected sex, she knew the consequences and still decided to go ahead and do it. I agree that she should hold blame and so should Christopher as well.

    Emily and Richard love Lorelei unconditionally. There was no question of ‘sending her away’ and they wanted her and Christopher to live with them, with their child. That being said, they were also distant, controlling, insensitive, narcissistic, critical, and manipulative, so they were not good parents. Highlighted by how neither asked Lorelei what she wanted, and the way Emily yelled at Lorelei when she was in labour.

      @saltnessmonster but the flashback takes place in 1984 in the 80s this wasn't like a century earlier in the 19th century where upper class or upper middle class people have a huge influence on soicety. Plus we see Christopher mom Francine crying about how Christopher is still a child and is too young to have a child at age 16 which is a very modern late 20th century perspective. A 100 years earlier or earlier that century 16 year Olds being parents and having a child at 16 wasn't soically unacceptable

    What Lorelai wanted is so simple for her parents to ask her first what's her plan after she got pregnant they treated her as if she couldn't think for herself the moment she got pregnant. Emily and Richard clearly meant well but I guess they were a victim of their times, social class and generation. Where a woman was supposed to get married if she gets pregnant. That never works now we all know that. Just because two young people get married because they have a kid doesn't mean their marriage would be healthy. It could even be worse if their marriage life is full of fights later on due to them being teenage parents and then their kid is just watching them do that at an early age if what happened with them is in 2020 or something co-parenting would have been really been accepted and treated normally. I guess it's because their parents from both sides came from old money that they don't accept new ideas of parenting methods back then.

  • @Robert-hz9bj
    @Robert-hz9bj Рік тому

    Seriously, I will never understand how Lorelai could hate her parents as much as she does. Emily resolutely defends her and refuses to even consider the idea of shipping her off like some kind of shameful secret. And yeah, Richard is a bit heavy handed in his whole "they'll get married" declaration. But he is clearly not doing it because "it's socially proper," but because in his mind that is how you build a home and support network for his coming grandchild and provide the best life for his daughter. They weren't perfect, but they certainly don't deserve any of the bullshit Lorelai heaps upon them...

    It's Lorelai's fault that Rory grew up without a father present and that Rory became such a failure (highly correlated!). It's just sad to see that never once did she have to own up to her depriving her daughter of a stable father figure. Maybe Christopher would've skipped town anyway, who knows, but he never got the chance to prove himself. Possibly this moment cemented his incapability to be responsible.

    I find emily normally annoying but huge shoutout to her for not wanting Lorelei to get an abortion. I do think they should have asked the kids their opinions but the idea was good to have them get married (when it is legal for them to do so) and have him work there. I feel like the Gilmore parents seem like the type to want their daughter to have an abortion but no. Hats off to them :) also I hate how “Christopher’s future is out the window” like I hate how men get a free pass on all that.

      i get where u are coming from completely. however it would be good if lorelai accepted some help from anyone. she wouldn’t know she would have made it and taking such huge risk could have had detrimental consquences especially for rory. it would have been good at least for some years to have a partner to share all these things with. she became so attached to rory that sometimes i think she barely had any life beyond. her relationship with rory. she needed a pal, a partner and rory many times took the role of a friend when she wasn’t supposed to making her too mature for her age which i strongly think led to her breakdown eventually.

      Well in America child marriage or minior marriage is still legal in the USA this flashback takes place in the 80s 1984 I'm sure it was more likely back than than in the 21st century in Connecticut which is the American state which Gilmore girls takes place the Marriage age was 16 years old with permission from parents and guardians the law wasn't changed untill 2023 in real life to 18 years old completely banned child marriage. So it would have been perfectly legal.
