Sherwood Pines - Royal Engineers XC course Feb 2023
To the west and just outside the main trails at Sherwood Pines Forest Park there are a few areas of forest that we regularly ride. The trails may not be gnarly but they provide a change and a challenge from the managed trail network.
A couple of years ago the Royal Engineers developed an XC course for a race series they were holding. They have been good enough to share the details of the course, with GPX and a few photos, so I thought I'd video it so that riders can see what's on offer.
Here's the link to the GPX from Royal Engineer Tom Hall who designed the course www.plotaroute.com/route/2143397

Sherwood Pines DH runs 2023
Переглядів 374Рік тому
During the later part of 2022 and 2023, the trail fairies aka Neil and his team did a spot of refurbishment on the 'Downhill Park' area of Sherwood Pines. Here are clips of the 5 'runs' which they have developed, fettled and refurbished along with Death Valley which also had a major refurb in 2023 along Tornado Alley which was refurnished in 2021. It may not be Bike Park Wales but I for one am ...
Sherwood Pines New Blue sections 2022
Переглядів 156Рік тому
During the middle part of 2022 the Sherwood Pines trail fairies were once again hard at it, this time adding a bit of fun and length...approx. 1.5 miles to the Blue Trail. The Blue trail now starts to the left of Sherwood Pines Cycles and here are clips of the 3 new sections that make up the first part of the Blue Trail before it rejoins it's previous route near what we call the Bus Stop. Thank...
Comrie Croft Red from Decision Rock back to the Croft
Переглядів 882 роки тому
Popped into Comrie Croft on our way to the Trossachs and Loch Lomond. The centre is quite unique as it's a farm, campsite, bike shop and trail centre all rolled into one. It's just outside Crieff near Perth, Perthshire. The trails are all handbuilt on the side of a hill, there's no uplift, so you have definitely earn your descents. There's 3 blue trails that link together, 5 red trails that alm...

Full on 'red' fast, plenty of stonework and plenty of drops to launch from.
Bike Park Wales Bonneyville

Bike Park Wales 'Bonneyville' red trail...flat tyre version...still manged a decent rn at this and it was one of my favorite sections, steeper and a bit rougher than some of the rest.
Bike Park Wales Bush Wacker

Short blue trail, fun and flowy
Bike Park Wales Terrys Belly
Переглядів 343 роки тому
At 4.5km long the blue Terrys Belly trail is one of the longest trails at Bike Park Wales. Full of berms and the opportunity to get a bit of airtime, it's fast and flowy.
Bike Park Wales Forest B Jump

Blue, short, but a little more techy than Terrys Belly, rougher surface and not so fast.
Bike Park Wales Surfin Bird
Переглядів 133 роки тому
Surfin Bird 'red' short and not overly technical, the only time it sort of rained too

Vicious Valley...flat tyre edition...another techy red wit plenty of slippy roots at Bike Park Wales, managed to 'burp' the rear and couldn't get it to hold it till I got back to the visitor centre and used a track pump,
Bike Park Wales AC/DC

Recent (December 2021) trip to Bike Park Wales. Nothing fancy, a simple chin-mounted clip of the 'mixed' red AC/DC trail that's got a lot of drops and a few fun rooty sections.
Peaky Blunders #2

Short clip of a recent ride out with friends in the Hope Valley, around the Lady Bower Reservoir, all descents as the ascents are not particularly entertaining. Pretty classic ride which took in the Jaggers Clough to Hope Cross ascent, followed by the infamous Potato Alley descent. Rowley Farm ascent and the Lockerbrooke/Screaming Mile descent. A steady pedal around Lady Bower, a walk across th...

That's what makes riding this seem more difficult than it really is, I did clip the bars twice too.

I have the same problem, if i tighten the back plate on the post to stop any debris getting in ,the lever on the on the handlebar won't work. Any thoughts ?

There is really nothing that can be done on any bike to stop water/grit/dirt getting down the back/front of a seat tube, it happens to them all at some point. I need to use a shim so the post will fit my post so what I have done is moved the 'split' in the shim to the opposite side of the 'split' in my seat tube, which helps a fair bit. The issue of the sticking/not working post is all down to over tightening the clamp, I have now gone for a fixed hex head seat clamp (removed the quick release as no longer needed) and tightened it to the recommended torque setting of 5-6n which is the average for a seat clamp and this works fine. Hope this helps. Andy.

Andy Hampshire Worked on it today, I fitted a small washer under the metal back plate and tightened it. Also turned the shim around as you suggested ,it's now working a treat...cheers mate.
