Royal Enfield Trial - Silencer Test

First Test of my finished Silencer for the trials Bullet. It's made from Aluminium and allthough it's quite compact still very quiet. The bike's not running very well, as I haven't tuned the carb yet.
First start of Royal Enfield trials Bullet

This is the first start of my Royal Enfield trials Bullet project, the "Laubfrosch". In this video the ignition adjustment is not working yet, so the machine runs in fully retarded mode, causing it to spitt fire, pop and bang and not run very smoothly, but it runs! :-) Please like, comment and subscribe.

Gearbox Conversion for pre-unit Bullets!

This is what I came up with as an alternative to the usual "outside" linkage used on most bikes with rear-set footrests, to reduce the mechanical parts outside the gearbox and preserve the original shift pattern and force. Hope you like it and if you have any suggestions let me know in the comments.

Finally! - My bobbin winding machine
Hello UA-camrs! finally I may present to you my solution for winding the bobbins for my maypole braider. As you can see, there's a spool and the thread is routed through guides, then wound around a counting wheel further to the distributor slide and finally to the bobbin to be wound up. The bobbin is fixed on a spindle, which is driven by a set of gears. I still need to make a cover for that. T...

Just as the title says. Lucy is a 5 year old Papillon/Chihuahua-mix that doesn't get tired to amaze me by how smart she is! These two toys are of the highest difficulty level in the brands' 3-level system. Still having some trouble with that slider though ;-)
Maypole braider DIY - Quick review
Hi guys, this is a quick review of my maypole braider that I am planing to use for braiding wiring harnesses, like they did in the mid 20th century for my motorcycle restaurations. Sorry for blinking so much. I didn't realize that until I saw the video. My only excuse for that is, that it was already late when I did this video ;-) See the braider in action and the result here: ua-cam.com/video/...

After changing the power supply to a propper battery, she fired up just perfectly and runs pretty good. Still a bit high idling, but I corrected this. The smoke reduced after a short while. It is promissing to be a sweet cruising machine!

DIY Maypole Braider - How does it work?
So just to check that I understood it, each of the boats/bobbins can only move in one specific way around the maypole, which is chosen when inserting the bobbin bei turning the nose of the boat left or right?
Exactly! One goes left, the next goes right and so on. Once they're on their designated path, they can not escape it. The feed slot is also closed after the machine is set up with a fitting piece of steel to prevent any error.
Hi Andi.

Are you still supporting the files for these? I might be interested in purchasing plans if your parts list is still up to date and available in the uk.
I did it myself and sorry, no drawings available.
@@andreassiegler2238 Ok.
Hi , i like this a great deal and might try it myself, quick question, does the kickstart foul on the lever ? Thanks Andy B
It definitely would, so you have to use an underslung kickstart lever like the Comando, or one that folds out right at the bottom.
How does this bike even exist
Like most others by having been built 🙂
@@andreassiegler2238 no, how did a Royal Enfield end up having the Indian badge and Name, I'm genuinely confused
@@virusdumb When the Indian Company in Springfield closed down in 1954, Brockhouse purchased the rights to the brand name. They then bought motorcycles from RE in England and sold them as "Indians" over the still existing dealerships. The motorcycles where americanised to fit the American taste a bit more, with wider mudguards, seperate headlights and such and also given Indian names, like "Brave", "Woodsman", "Trailblazer" and "Apache". This particular bike anyhow was built specificly for the American market with a lot of special parts, to fill the niche of the old Chief. Basicly all but the engine and primary drive is different to any British bike, even the frame in details. Brockhouse ended the colaboration with RE in 1959 and then sold Matchless motorcycles with the addition of the "Indian" name. The last 1960 Chiefs were even sold as Matchless/Indian, despite being Royal Enfield, to make confusion perfect. The rights were later bought by Clymer and several others to follow.
Should be an amusement park ride ❤

Thanks for working on a hobby style machine. I have always wanted one myself, ... ever since I worked with the industrial machines in the factory.
Great. Thanks a lot.
I'm in Ghana, African where can get this braiding machine?
It's self-built!
my heart hurts! It looks and sounds glorious.
Wie bei Kabelmetall in Hannover
Beeindruckend
This is excellent.
Hi there, I am from NZ and I am a poi maker. It's indigenous to most Polynesian cultures. I am in need desperately for a machine like this. Do you make these for sale? Can you direct me to a supplier? I would appreciate any feedback ngā mihi
Hi Steff, sorry, I neither sell these nor do I know a supplier I could recomend. I built this machine from scratch with what I could obtain solely for braiding wiring harnesses. But sometimes these machines appear on ebay and others alike, if you search for "maypole braider". Good luck!
guy is a pretty good rider. bike looks brit as
What are the optical encoder wheels from? I've seen encoders on the servos in some HP printers which were actually made by a company in Ruhla.
These are self made from translucent plastic with black masking tape. The inkrements can't be any smaller though, as the barriers won't detect them anymore. This results in the loud movement of the slide, as I have to use full steps instead of micro-stepping to achieve sufficient travel.
You did a really good job with that machine. An even better material for the bobbin carriers I would think is Turcite, which is an acetal based material filled with additives- often including bronze- which improves its toughness and allows it to be self-lubricating. It is considerably more expensive than Teflon, though.
wow nice

Can you tell us more? This is the Hitchcock's kit on what bike?
Sure. But it's not a kit, but all self made. Only the aluminium cylinder and some parts are from HMC. The frame is from a 1963 Continental, swinging arm and wheels (laced to 19"/21") from a 1981 Bullet, the engine is an Indian made 350 from the 80s and gearbox from a 1955 Twin, rear shocks from an MZ 250, headlight from an old tractor. Everything else is self made, like rearset foot rests, high level exhaust, mudguards, rear frame, seat and tank. I allso modified the gearbox (see different video) and the engine to mount a magdyno, as well as a tach-drive. I'll probably make a more detailed video, once the bike is finished.
@@andreassiegler2238 fantastic. I thought it was the Hitchcock's kit with some modifications. You should be proud of your work.
G'day Andreas, Again, I have only just found this video. Very impressive modification. I wonder if the mechanism shown is the final iteration of it, or whether you are going to improve it now that the concept is proven. My chief concern would be with the rod linkage between the two shafts, as it has many directional changes and has a small cross section. This makes it more likely to tend to straighten under tension or bend under compression, particularly when one is seeking to shift it with a boot toe whilst riding the bike over country, not a finger whilst it is on its stand. I wonder if a shape that was curved like a reverse "s" would allow a larger cross-section linkage that would be stiffer, even though less straight. Obviously, I do not know what the clearances are within the cover, so my thoughts could be completely unworkable. Once again, a nice modification to allow the outside linkage to be placed in a more protected position. Thanks for your video Quentin
Hi Quentin, it looks weak, but it's astonishingly rigid. It's made from CrV-steel and quite tough for a little piece of round stock. It will have to proof yet though. It might be possible to add some material in the mid section, but there's really not a lot of space to begin with, so it took some time to find the correct shape so it wouldn't foul another part. If it should proof unreliable, I might still have to change some details. It now has a securing wire and of course all is cleaned and greased. Happy to hear you like this mod :-)
Finally someone that shows a clear explanation how this works!! I was always wondering how that works!! Thank you so much for the clear video!!
Very nice job you've made of that 👍
Incredible ! Thanks so much !
Thank you indeed ☝🏻☝🏻☝🏻🌸👍
Hey Andreas , thank you for your beneficial explanation and design. I am curious it seem that you used bush in gears. Why you wouldn't choose bearing in side of gears ? Any specific reason for that ? (by the way, I didnt see any bearing in gears on professional machines as well , even bushes too , those are self alignment.)
Hi Okan, the gears do have bearings but due to the design they can't be seen once assembled.
why is the room so yellow, its kind of hard to watch :/

I watched this video and ended up tied down into my desk chair. Not sure how you do all of that without making an absolute mess of things, but I'm impressed!
Can you please show how a 4 trand braider such as this would be made? I would recreate this but it seems a bit complex to start with and I want to braid around really thin wires (earphone cables) to reinforce it. That would be much appreciated.
I guess this would work pretty much the same way as this one. Problem could be the little space left between the wheels. All in all it's just two bobbins going clockwise an two going anti clockwise crossing their paths. in Prinzipal any even number of bobbins will work, but I would at least use six wheels and bobbins to clear the middle.
Thanks for explaining this. Great video bud!
Awesome bike, I passed on one once and am still regretting it
