    I've taken clay imprint of a shell found on the beach, let it dry, then used fresh clay to squeeze into a dry clay mold, fired at 1000°C, painted, used base coat for nails to attach an earring "hook", uv dried for about 120 seconds, applied top coat and dried for about 60 seconds.

      @@68able2 to be really honest and perhaps almost grotesque, it's about being bloated in the morning before having a cup of coffee; drink often shared with a dear person. The whole series is leaning towards archeology - which often interprets very at the time normal, daily activities as rituals. Having a coffee is often called a ritual, and in Eastern Europe, it still very much is. The series is titled "personal archaeologies" as it's storytelling of my own daily rituals channeled through (mostly) neolithic looking sculptures. I understand confusion, though. Spiral often represented life, and here it simply represents... A swirl of poop.

    Love them! I’m glad they turned out well with that transparent glaze after that nightmare before. But ngl I’d need 10 of these to satiate any kind of pudding craving I have :D

    • @magdalenamodric
      @magdalenamodric 2 місяці тому

      Actually - the new ones are in the process of firing and transparent glaze (which I've used already many times on other things) is the next step! I think leaving pudding in one and turning the other upside down on the first plate would make a great effect of a closed shell, but also add some volume because one of these is not enough! 😆

    I would used a watery ink, several layers, then wash some off.. later add more thin ink washes.. lastly a watery light coffee wash to bring out some warmth. .. no need for acrylic. Just paste wax when all dry. Thx.

    Have you ever tried hollowing out and firing a head sculpture? I think it'd look super cool in glazes

    • @magdalenamodric
      @magdalenamodric 4 місяці тому

      Yes, out of a waste mold - one terracotta head before I used it for a plaster cast. I don't like how glaze swallows all the details so I almost never glaze the sculptures, I prefer it on cups and plates 🙂 and it was an expensive clay which turned out nice so I didn't use anything to hide it 😄

    Pretty remarkable process, with undeniable results! I can't imagine having the patience to do this like you do, but it's a ton of fun to watch. The "unearthed from the sea" concept is also pretty cool! Shout-out to Frederick Chopin, although I think most of the pieces were in different keys from the original.
