Power Pins 2.0 - Install (Fender Acoustasonic Jazzmaster)
No nonsense install of the "Bigrock Innovations' Power Pins 2.0" in a Fender Acoustasonic Jazzmaster.
Install was straight forward, makes string changes easier and quicker, and I didn't notice a whole lot of tone change or anything that I couldn't also attribute to the new strings. My only real complaint is there's nothing that helps you align the pins on top so they don't get crooked.
Thanks for watching!

    Installation video is excellent. But the Power Pins 2.0 ruined the bridge on my Fender Acoustasonic. After carefully installing (watching many videos - including this one) and not snugging things overly-tight, I strung my first set of 10s (48-10). Played the guitar daily for about three weeks and decided to return because of other issues (neck). Upon removing the Power Pins 2.0, I noticed how deeply they cut into the bridge. No way to fix it.

    So, do you think it’s a worthwhile upgrade, now that you’ve had them installed for a while?

    • @lunchcopter
      @lunchcopter Рік тому

      I think it depends on your use case. Best for: Super quick and easy string changes. Provides extra insurance that a broken string ball end won't fall in the guitar and short something (if that happens i suppose, it's never happened to me), and less wear and tear, in the long run, to your bridge plate. I think they look good, but that's subjective. I DO think there is a loss of bass, probably due to a shallower break angle over the bridge. It's not a deal breaker, but I enjoyed the purely acoustic sounds more without them (the "plugged in" sounds were similar to before).

    They are increasing the break angle of the strings over the saddle & Fender worked around the break angle issue by shaving down the back of the bridge so that the power pins can be set lower in height than the saddle.

    So something I just noticed, which might be the source of all the confusion in all the reviews and Reddit threads I've seen on this. I think there are 2 variants of G-track pro in circulation, each with different length threads on the bottom. Some quick pictures of mine below: imgur.com/5btT6NQ imgur.com/BKqigO1 Mine seems to be clearly longer then the threads on the mic in this video, 0:33 for a good comparison. This may be why some people flat out say it does not work, and some say it fits no problem. Seems I might have lucked out and got the long threads, so time to pickup a SP04.

    • @lunchcopter
      @lunchcopter 5 років тому

      That could explain a lot! The adapter I picked up extended the threads, which is what I needed for a safe mounting solution. I just didn't have enough thread with mine and the SP04 to work without it. The adapter picture was linked above, but here it is again for convenience. imgur.com/a/xTf2gFL

    • @WesBWhitacreIII
      @WesBWhitacreIII 5 років тому

      @@lunchcopter Can confirm now that I just got my SP04 in, it defiantly fits perfectly without an adaptor. A TLDR; for anyone who's been hesitant to buy this mic + SP04 mount, it will 100% work in the long run. The question is, did you win the RNG lottery and get the long threads so it works by itself, or fail the coin flip and need the ~$10 adapter. A bit of extra info, the G-Track Pro I bought did not come with standard stand mount that many of the reviewers seem to say is included in the box. Which seems to be another common problem people have in the review sections i see on amazon and newegg. So it may be that you either get short threads and an included basic mount, or long threads and only the desk stand. This is pure speculation on my part, however it would make a little more sense that if they were going to sell the G-Track Pro to some retailers with a basic stand mount, and some not, that might have also been when they made the decision of long threads vs short threads.

      Where did you get that other boom arm mount? Also do you know the sizes for the mount adapter like size that mounts on mic to the size it steps down to

      James Woulfe What "other boom arm mount"? If you mean the boom arm mount for mounting the G-Track Pro to an arm, (the thing on the far left in the thumbnail) that came in the box. As I understand it, not all of them came with the boom arm mount, depending on where you bought yours. Also, while I am not sure on the sizes, it is just an extension. The female threads of the adapter are the same size as the included boom mount, or the desk stand, and the "male" threads are the same size as the male threads on the mic. The adapter is just an extension that gives you about a half inch more clearance, which is exactly what you need. I uploaded a picture of the adapter mounted and added that to the description. Good luck!
