ZOOM G3n - 'Shadows' type patch - "Theme For Young Lovers"

How to modify pre-installed patches - including a demo of modifying one to create a "Shadows type" sound. Feliz Navidad Strictly Come Dancing Blackpool 2019 No audience whooping!!

Fantastic routine from the dancers. I decided to create this to neutralise the BBC's insistence on getting the audience to "Whoop and Clap," which most people seem to hate, yet the BBC insist on telling us they know what we want, instead of LISTENING to what we want!

Having been forced to remove "Money For Nothing" by the sphincter Police at Aviator Management, due to their claim of "Copyright Infringement," (Highly questionable as it was a live concert with no statement made at the Concert regarding no filming,) I question why other amateur videos of "M.F.N." filmed at the same concert, are still "live" on UA-cam? Never mind, this is the revised version, w...

Thanks!!
Glad to have been of help - to you and 8200 other people ,according to the number of views!!
Thank you. Really helpful information
Thank you!!!!
Looks a LOT like an ARTIST LP copy! And you mean BRIDGE pick up!
Hi, I can't comment on the type of copy, as the only name on the instrument is Bowwood, but surely every one of this style guitar is a copy of a Gibson Les Paul guitar? As for the pickup relative to the knobs - having just checked an explanation video on UA-cam, I've learned something today - you're right and I stand corrected, so thank you for pointing that out.
@@Ayjay2785 NW, you're welcome! Artist are a budget brand here in the Antipodes that make really GOOD copies of Gibson & Fender guitars/basses! (In CN of course!) It looks pretty similar however idk what the price point is on that guitar you showed! The same style of LP STD copy from Artist goes for A$450! GREAT value!
You saved my life so much
Good to hewar - thanks!
i had to drill the srew heads away
Aaah - but at least I hope this helped you find 'em!
Thank you so much for the info !
THANK YOU ALAN YOU SAVED MY LIFE
Thank you so much! I was struggling and getting disenchanted, but your video made it work.
Thanks for this. Our 37LI Ergoflex does have the screw next to the motor...as well as that damn one under the grass flap (in the green moulding, at the clippings exit, very near where the right hand handle upright mounts - as viewed from behind).
Exstremely helpfull. Thanks for taking the time to share💪 - now time to find the spare part number
Thanks Alan very useful and clear video, easily completed all the steps except trying to lift off the cover, the 2 tabs at the back seem to be intent on holding onto their 'orey', yours just appeared to lift off in one easy movement, any tips? Thanks Daryl
(If the screws are rusted, spraying them with rust remover or appliance care products (e.g. WD40, Bosch care products) is helpful. Allow to take effect for a few minutes.) Thank you.
Thanks for this video it was a great help, now working fine!
great straight forward video... thanks man!
Very enjoyable hearing that type of guitar playing again…..Thanks
Thanks so much for this! Couldn't get the ******* thing running and it was driving me nuts!
Bosch want you to buy new not repair in my opinion
you saved me thx
Thank you so much! Had the exact same issue and this solved it.
Thank you!
Fantastic have a wonderful day also happy valentine's day ❤😊
Thank you!!! Save me
Very interesting that you use vibrato. Happy with my Shads sounds on Zoom G1on .May be happier when i incorporate your ideas . What please is the "SWEET" effect? Many thanks for the time you put in.This is my afternoon sorted!
Thank you so much 🎉🎉🎉
Большое Вам спасибо!
This song , is definition rock musik❤❤❤❤❤
How do you set it so deep?
Oh dear! My secret will now be out! Chords recorded in Garageband, copied to another 4 tracks, each of which had the "left-right" balance reduced slightly, to avoid 'overdrive.' As I said to a friend who viewed it recently and asked the same question - believe nothing with the music industry!
absolute legend 10/10 video
Whoa! Careful now, you'll just convince my Wife that she's right, by saying "I'm bloody starstruck," by having a UA-cam channel!!
Lovely video, very useful and you’ve convinced me to buy it. Your local accent also pricked my ears up, I’ll hazard a guess you’re near bromsgrove?
Sorry, I was obviously using my "telephone voice!" Walsall - tryin' to speak proppa! Thanks for the comment. Tip: if you buy a spare reel, (which I do recommend,) don't put too much twine on and don't wind it too tight, otherwise it doesn't feed easily.
@@Ayjay2785 😅 lovely telephone voice. Not a bad guess if I do say so myself! The guide wheel and self feeding spool really sold me on this strimmer. Thank you for the advice about the line I might try a slightly thicker grade.
Eyemack: All comments have disappeared for some reason, since I edited my own comments, as above. I've obviously inadvertently deleted the original clearer pictures of settings - but they've now been uploaded again - see link above. Piccicato (pizzicato, I stand corrected! Sorry, I'm old school and the spelling/meaning has changed.) Yes, I use that setting all the way through any tune, then just damp the strings at the bridge, with the edge of my palm to get that effect. Hope this gets to you - and helps.
Hi Alan, thanks for this. I just got my G3Xn and I applied your settings, but I get a huge discrepancy in volume levels between your 2 patches even though they look the same on device. When you play sound through your patches, they sound very different, a lot more than I am hearing. Do you do something extra, e.g. some sort of muting, when using the pizzicato one? Is it possible to make the patches available for download? Also, your link for the settings doesn't work. Thanks again.
Hi, You're the only person to have flagged this up, which makes me wonder if ZOOM have changed the settings on the units. The only volume adjustments I make are through my DAW software (GarageBand,) or on my audio interface, plus damping the strings at the bridge when playing piccicato. Whilst I can see no reason why volume should be different between my (probably 4 year old) G3N and your G3XN, (which I believe has the pedal,) I'd suggest emailing either ZOOM, or the Company you bought it from, if yours is a new one, to ask the question. I'll check it out my end sometime this week, plus the links. Cheers, Alan
@@Ayjay2785 Thanks Alan. The basic Dreamworld has changed as it now has Tape Echo and Hall in place of AnalogDLY and SoftEcho. I replaced them though. So, with the pizzicato (not piccicato), are you kicking it in when the pizzicato sections come in and just muting with your palm, or do you just use that patch for the whole of the songs that have pizzicato sections? Putting a link to the patches would be great just in case I have something wrong going on!

Sir Do u hav any heating issue right over the left corner of the display of the Zoom G3XN ?? If then is it natural or its a gear fault ???? Plz reply sir i need it so bad.
Not that ever been aware of, but I have to say, I've never touched that area to check. Mine is just the G3n though, not the G3Xn, which I believe has the pedal. Personally, I'd get it checked out - or better still, return it!
@@Ayjay2785 both the pedals have same board.....so the issue will be same......if u hav issue like me plz tell wheather its normal or not ??
No, mine's fine
Thanks Alan, am researching a purchase for my new garden and your review has been really useful. Appreciate it.
One further tip I've discovered, is that when you ultimately need to buy replacement strummer line to load onto the cassette, don't put too much on and don't wind it too tight, otherwise the auto-feed can jam. Glad it was useful.
Hi Alan , great video. What’s the difference from this zoomG3 . Compering it , With the zoom G3xn?
Hi Joe, Thanks. I believe the G3 is an earlier version. This link will take you to a demo of the G3 - if you like a "thrash" metal sound! (Personally, I'm not a fan, which is one of the reasons I did my video's, plus some links to other demo's of the G3N.) www.google.com/search?q=ZOOM+G3+effects+pedal&rlz=1C5CHFA_enGB975GB975&oq=ZOOM+G3+effects+pedal&aqs=chrome..69i57.7381j0j7&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8#fpstate=ive&vld=cid:6e7f6e68,vid:unI-3jNlpHY
We were there ! Brilliant ! 👍
Aaaah, but were you just 10 rows from the stage? (!!!) Fantastic night, fantastic view - just wish I could have seen him in his earlier days, as I do feel he's not just "an old Mark Knopfler," but perhaps has early onset of some condition or other, which makes it even more poignant that I did at least get to see him, as I'll be surprised if he tours again now. Thanks for the comment!

I have just bought one of these and been searching around trying to find some good shadows settings, but without success, you seem to have nailed it with your great sounds, any idea if you know where Shadows patches or settings can be found
Thanks for your comments John, but there are no pre-set Shadows settings on the G3N unfortunately,. Another of my video's mentions that I did a short recording of each setting, to determine how they all sounded and which I felt were best for me to modify. If you search for "The Shadows Backing Tracks free download" on UA-cam, you'll find links to a number of tracks - many (supposedly) by The Shadows.
Great video Alan, thank you sir.
Glad it was helpful - thanks for your kind comment
Thanks very much, helpful video
Thanks for your comment - one tip, when loading a new spool of plastic, don't overload it, otherwise it tangles on the reel and doesn't come out freely.
Excellent. Informative; nicely produced. thank you.
Thanks for your kind comment
can you tell me where you got the part from? im desperate for one..
Well, initially, I thought this was going to be both our lucky days! But it was not to be I'm afraid. I bought my 43i for £15 off eBay, which had been advertised as a 36i. It was in working order OTHER THAN THIS LINKAGE, so the idea was to replace that and keep it for any spares - motor, battery, for a 36i that I'd recently bought. It wasn't until I got it home that I discovered it was a 43i! Anyway, I managed to buy a linkage off eBay at the time for around £18, but pretty much destroyed the machine, trying to find this b*%@*y hidden screw, so I tried to sell the inkage on eBay,. Having had no takers, I put it in the rafters in my Garage, but now find that I must have finally thrown it away a few years ago, when I "tidied up" my Garage - Sorry! I don't think Bosch make the battery machines any more and having looked on eBay, it appears that they've changed the design of this part anyway. However - could I suggest that the following link might be your best option, depending on where you live, of course - BUT MAKE. SURE. IT'S THE CORRECT. SIZE! Good luck! www.ebay.co.uk/itm/325225231564?hash=item4bb8ef34cc:g:JycAAOSwlsFio2u-
Finally someone who shows what matters. I have Alesis q2 without eftp. I was helplessly looking all over the net for any delays for this old Q2 (still good for Shadows) FORUM Charlie Hall I was shamelessly fired as if I wanted to take something from his mouth or his wallet .... thanks for such a forum . Then I set to hard work on Alesis q2 on my own and with the help of state-of-the-art instrumentation such as a digital memory oscilloscope ... an audio spectrum analyzer..other and other a lot of pc software analyzed certain Shadows echoes. Of course I haven't finished everything yet but at the moment I'm happy with the results for songs like Wanderful Land, Atlantis, Cossy, Dance On etc ... no worse patches than the original eftp. I’ve been through the hell of a door in my life. I will not write these stories here. But I can be stubborn and persistent. I have no intention of slandering anyone. Mr. Alan Bliss thank you very much for this selfless video of your showing shadows settings on zoom g3n. I also have a zoom g3xn which is the same as g3n only it has an expression pedal. 3 years ago I bought eftp for the aforementioned my pedal and after a while found it to be fake and unrealistic. Some want to earn on the account of other people's fair payments at all costs. it is a pity that the world is like that. But I see exceptions to be found. I apologize for my English ... my home is Trieste in Italy
Ciao, Alan
Hi Alan. you have saved me in the region of £90 on an add on pedal. I have a Zoom G1Xfour and could not achieve the multi tap delay. (5.21) is near enough ! THANK YOU SO MUCH. I upload to UA-cam. ua-cam.com/channels/YHzfMnzBjXjpISKOCpL1Cw.html
Thank you for doing this is clean & gentle sound, sound & playing so awesome!!. I used to have Zoom G3 now I'm digging this one. Cheers!!
Yes, it's a really versatile piece of kit, but too many "thrash" settings for my own requirements. I'm currently trying to create a setting to emulate the sound of the MacMull in this video, but having great difficulty! ua-cam.com/video/OGKnxfDJO4c/v-deo.html
@@Ayjay2785 Awesome!! Thanks
Thank you for this review. Very helpful. I will now go ahead and buy one.
Pleased to have been of help - mine is still working fine. (Suggest buy a spare spool of line as well, for when it runs out, so you can change half-way through the job if necessary.)
@@Ayjay2785 Will do. Thanks for the advise.

Hello Alan I have zoom g3 delay pedal with r hall patches in threw a Roland cube 40 amp set on clean sound with bass1 mid 8 tremble2 but it sounds rubbish not like the zoom g3 set up you get is it better than g3 or is my setting on my amp wronge or do I need a new amp Ps do you put yours threw a computer any help will be very much appreciated it is putting me of playing Thanks pete
Thanks for getting in touch. First:- Yes, the sound on this UA-cam video was produced on a computer, using Garageband software. I don't actually have an amplifier - I use a small TV sound-bar to listen to the output while playing, but the sounds on the video are directly from the computer software, saved as an mp3 file. My guitar is plugged into the ZOOM G3N, which is then plugged into a Behringer UMC202 pre-amp, (purely a pre-amp - has no effect on tones,) and from there into my Macbook computer. The only elements affecting the tones are the ZOOM G3N and the Garageband software. I'm not familiar with your G3 model, but I understand it's been discontinued and looking on UA-cam, the demo's date back to 2011/2012, whereas the G3N is much more recent and I'm guessing the method of creating patches is therefore quite different. My own, personal opinion is, that you should only need to replace your ZOOM G3 if you can't get good tones, as I would guess your amp can be tested independently to check if there's any distortion. Hope this helps. Alan
Hi Peter, I've just found this on UA-cam - does it help for your unit, as I think the only difference is the addition of a pedal on the G3X. Alan
Really pleased to have been of help Rick. No, they don't make it easy at all!
Thank you so much for this. I was trying for ages to try get the green cover off a friends Rotak 43 LI-2 Ergoflex. Information about the whereabouts of the screw hidden in the middle was exactly what I needed! It’s a different design mower but that ******* screw was in exactly the same hidden place as on your mower. They don’t make it easy do they?
