Carpy chats with real anglers
#66 Frank Warwick
Frank Warwick joins us in this episode and meanders through a plethora of thought-provoking and inspiring topics in a way that only Frank can.
Frank not only has a great understanding of bait and fishing as a whole, but is someone who has the balls to go and put the ideas into practice. Trust me when I say, very few people do this to any great extent. I have always admired him from a far for this and I am sure his adventurous nature has inspired my own testing to one degree or another.
Enjoy this enlightening episode with the one and only, Frank Warwick...

51:23 Ecuphar Equivit Dry was discontinued after unknowingly using some screwed up ingredient. History In October 2018, the Federal Agency for the Safety of the Food Chain (FASFC) informed its European colleagues via the RASFF system (Rapid Alert for Food and Feed) of the presence of DNA in a certain type of bacteria (B. subtilis) of genetically modified organisms (GMO) in vitamin B2 that had been found in animal feed during official FASFC controls. This presence does not pose an immediate danger to the consumer, but is part of the fight against antibiotic resistance. The addition of this type of GMO to animal feed may potentially cause microorganisms to acquire resistance to useful antibiotics. This risk assessment was performed on the basis of the advice of EFSA (European Food Safety Authority). The analysis showed the presence of DNA from genetically modified B. subtilis KCCM 10445. This is a nonuthorised GMO subject to measures at European level (V1829/2003). Since 2016, the research into this unauthorised GMO in vitamin B2 has been included in the official programme of the FASFC.
108 views in 5 hours? I’ve been watching this out of interest. If you put up some moronic tick tock type shite you’d have half a million views by now. What the fuck happened to peoples minds?
Almost crashed the car on that second piss!😂

Yessssss
Beer time and listening to a great podcast!cheers everyone!
oooh this be a good one
Finally, been waiting.
The myth the legend ❤
A fabulous podcast. Interesting and really thought provoking. Thank you Julian for sharing your experience!
Great podcast. Jason knows his stuff. I would like to have heard a bit more about fats and lipids and how that goes into bait.
Really enjoyed this. Mention in the comments of a part 2 but I could not find it ?
1:11:40 If lactalbumin is unaffordable what is the stuff they sell as lactalbumin? It looks to me as it is a higher quality product than wpc80. Less fat and lactose. 1:19:40 I tried Marmite, couldn't detect any difference. How do you test a single new ingrediënt at home? My (small) carp will eat almost everything.
@@piepkwiep4312 usually lactalbumin enriched whey isolate, or a more standard whey isolate. They contain some lactalbumin but only some. I can’t remember which episode but I have spoken about the home testing before. I use a control method, testing in both tank and pond in a “plain” mix. I’ll be covering it in an upcoming podcast
@@CarpChronicles Thx for answering. If I'm correct lactalbumin is the main whey protein, and isolate always has lactalbumin in it amongst other proteins.
@piepkwiep4312 people say that but it’s not quite like that. Here’s the MAIN protein breakdown of an average isolate that’s being sold- Beta-lactoglobulin - 50-60% Alpha-lactalbumin - 20-25% Immunoglobulins - 10-15% Bovine Serum Albumin - 5-10% Lactoferrin - small amount EDIT- Obviously on top of that there’s small quantities of non-protein elements like lactose, minerals, fat etc. The percentages shown are of the protein segment, not total

Sorry but I couldnt get past him coming across as one of those who likes the sound of his own voice. Also seen him getting rubbed up the wrong way with constructive critasism. The internet isnt the place me thinks...
Great pod cast. Sam you really do produce some great content i love all of these podcasts and have done since covid listening to these helps me at night when the demons start takes me about 2 weeks to finish one pod cast as i nodd off 😆 which is great for me more than just a pod cast👍🏼💙…. I also think right now you are also at the top of the game with these pod casts a lot of companies arent consitent with producing them. Thank you 🎣👍🏼
@@MarkCarpAngler23 thanks Mark, that’s lovely to read! More episodes coming soon. Sam
So happy to find some fresh content from my fave podcast ❤
I still use the Gardner Gun, my forearms are stupidly strong 😂
We hear the comment so often that a certain fish has not been out for years. What people don’t take into consideration is that not all anglers report there catches regardless of the rules. I don’t report mine.
love your podcasts but it does concern me that you sell your own bait and purchase bait from kenny for your own fishing. Do you have a convincing answer.
@Kralk.66 yes, when I bought from Kenny it was a brief period of time when I stoped rolling my own bait, it was also before I brought out the OptiBaits base mix’s! I’ve used all our flavours, hookbaits and base mix’s ever since they came out (and around 2 years before they came to market)
@@CarpChronicles thanks for the reply. Im currently using John baker but looking for another bait maker because I fear the day that john stops. Im buying into your thinking.
@Kralk.66 as you work your way through the episodes the time line of it all will make more sense. Compare my mix’s next to Johns and make your decision that way, that’s what I’d do. Let the fish tell you which one is better 😉
@@CarpChronicles how do I contact you privately. I want to discuss my bait requirements.
Ridiculously sharp hooks👌
That was a good podcast Sam💪💪 keep em coming
Thanks Sam and Dean for a great podcast and to Dean for the bait. Not easy to replace that's for sure
Thank you Sam, Dean🤝 great insights and always entertaining. Tight lines and wet nets
Gutted Dean is ending, great respect for him , he knows his onions for sure 🙌🏻 all the best Dean 👍🏻
Massive respect Dean, your The Bait Anthology book was fantastic and can't wait for the new one fella . Well done Sam for getting Dean on every now n then to keep the bait fix flowing. Steve M
If you want to quit drinking you need to get into drinking wine and diluting the wine with water and vimto or fanta or somthing (squash is better because of the water) I used to drink 7 Desperados a night sometimes 13 and i had no way of stopping at all because i couldnt mix it with anything that tasted nice. I drank like that for 10 years. One night, first night of lockdown I had mytag removed at 1am and thought I want a drink and went to the 24hr petrol station to get a drink at 4am and they didnt have Desperados, so i got 2 bottles of white wine and some purple ciders and mixed themm together. Thats tastes great and it gets you drunk, but its alcohol x2 and i knew that would get expensive, but i knew i could bare the wine if it was mixed, so i tried fanta and vimto squash, and i dranked diluted wine with no intention of stopping drinking for another year and three quarters, by this time my stomach and liver was huge from the 2-5 bottles of wine and all of that water. Then luckily one day i offended someone and when i woke up i felt bad so i didnt want a drink, but my body didnt need it either so i sailed through the 3-4 day period of not drinking. Havnt drank since and can still have a drink at Christmas and at family events and not need to drink the next day. So you will be free of it if you quit this way, and its not a mental chore like trying to quit smoking. Stopped in November of 2021 :)
Loved all of Dean's podcasts. Sam, don't let him off the hook, get him back every year. Dean, good luck with the fishing.
🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤best podcast 👏 👌 🙌 👍 💙 😍 this year 🎉🎉🎉🎉
What a great podcast, I grew up in Bedfordshire and remember the chimneys at Stewartby brick works.
@@Kralk.66 thanks! I hope to get Stuart back on soon. Sam
1:44:47 Fish from Richworth.
Good to listen again been a while enjoyable as always I make alot of my own hookbaits could you tell me the two best ingredients you would put into a single hook bait many thanks
I think you can't compare the toxicity of copper with the copper sulfate used in for example Hikari Growth.
Why do you think that? Throw enough of that in to a tank and you will have copper levels that exceed the safe limit. Of course we are talking extremes here, and obviously many carp eat copper enriched feeds without issue and even with some benefit. Edit- I should have been clearer on this in the episode. Sam
@@CarpChronicles Damn.... I was wrong here. Was thinking copper is more toxic but it's the other way around. Due to the solubility copper sulfate is more toxic. But as with all toxins it's the degree of exposure that matters. But how much is too much? I've been using Equivit. It has been used since '83 or something in boilies. Now it's discontinued so I'm looking for a better replacement (without any copper). Brewer's yeast tastes horrible but maybe it's partly an option. EDIT: They all contain copper.... Brewers yeast : 10-20 mg copper per kilo Alfalfa : 5-10 mg copper per kilo Spirulina : 60-100 mg copper per kilo Kelp : 3-9 mg per kilo Beef Liver Powder: 30-60 mg of copper per kilogram.
I completely agree. Even water is toxic at too high of a dose (to humans) yet it’s one of the most important things for us to survive!
The number 1 podcast 👌 is back love ❤️ it 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Another great listen 👍
