Windsurfing Snells Beach in a NNE 250125
Переглядів 8414 днів тому
I took the local option for me today, I wanted to fine tune transitions on the new Pyro, just to get used to its balance and fine tune. I was pleased with the way it turned out today, the wind was a bit gusty but when its got too much North in it, thats what happens....

Well this was the last day in a run of windy days, I chose a different venue today just to mix things up and have some variety... Snells is great for confidence building and fine tuning your transitions...The two boards im mostly sailing now gybe a bit differently to what I am used to so today was great to dial in some more....Next I will be focussing on tacking these two boards.

A tricky Easterly wind, patchy, and very gusty, but it didn't stop us getting some fun tiome on the water......I was so overpowered at times it was difficult to do anything let alone cutting loose on the waves, but it was good practice!!

Well I really got to put some time on the Pyro today, its an amazing board and excells in the onshore conditions, its a super well balanced board and turns amazingly!! It was so much fun sailing that today, and overpowered most of the time!!

I have been keen to try a 99 Pyro for a while now, I want to be able to have a great float and ride board which is more "wave" than the Dyno..... It was very very light today, first impressions are good, but hopefully there is more wind tomorrow to see what it can really do...

This place is next level, long fast waves which wall up quickly.....I was learning about timing and working on my confidence to hit for a floater....I got the beginnings of a few so I'm looking forward to getting back there to expand on that.

The general sea temp around the Auckland area yesterday was 20.5 degrees C. Although at Snells beach its a very shallow bay for a bout 500m offshore, so the temp there is above that, the water did feel warm, so might have been ove 21 degrees, the water temp in Auckland would never get over 23 degrees...

They are different boards for different conditions, I have only sailed a Pyro once but it was excellent in the waves whereas the Dyno is not, its more of a bump and jump board....I wouldn't buy a Dyno again, my focus is more wave riding now, so I would take the Pyro.....

Smoooooth riding. One day I hope to be able to carve my 97l Tabou 3s as well as that. I can occasionally manage a ‘dry gybe’ on a good day 😂 Definitely gonna visit Pt Chev at some point too - it looks great!

Hi, good video, I want to buy that board, I really like it.... How about the build quality, that's the only thing that worries me, is it the Wood sandwich model? Thank you very much

This board is a 2019 Kode, quite different to the new ones. I do like it, its my light /medium wind board. All these modern production boards are fragile, I have had to have this one repaired a few times. I have given up on production boards now as this is the third board I have broken in 3 years, although this one could be repaired..... But it does depend on how you sail, I like jumping and I do a lot of it so that is also a factor. If you never jumped the board it would last a lot longer but where's the fun in that...

Nice one Kev. Perhaps you should put together some gybes from the years gone by to see how they have evolved into today's planing gybes ..😅

I love this - takes me back! I wish there was a nice long run like this in San Diego - well, I also wish that San Diego had decent wind, too! Shame they don’t make these anymore.

What made you select a Starboard over a Severne board? just curious.

I've had this board for a few years now, its smaller volume at 94L than the 105 Dyno, its more agile and better in the waves, so I'm using it as much as possible to dial myself into it for when I go back down to the Taranaki for wave riding..

I loved my Equipe so much.force4-5 with a 7 metre sail and I just got in the rear straps and flew on a 2 mile run.
