Strat-O-Matic Basketball: 85-86 Celtics at 85-86 Sixers, first 2:00
Those rims were tight asf.
It was 45-37 Rockets at halftime, that would be the score after the first quarter now because they have abolished defense in the league now.
When the NBA was the NBA the intro music alone got me hype. I don’t know what we got now…dam I miss the good old days.
please tell me your rankings of the suns and rockets including three players who in my OPINION were top fifty stars being charles barkley elvin hayes and moses malone and a player who in my OPINION was a legend being hakeem olajuwon
Glad we still have these to watch again and again!
That 1988 Renault Medallion was sharp.
McHale played the whole playoffs with a foot fracture. He was all nba 1st team and all nba defensive 1st team That fracture limited him in the playoffs.
LeBald wouldn't last a minute in this world
Thanks for posting. Cool hearing Dick Vitale doing an NBA game
Whoever preserves this is heroic.
Thanks for the trip down memory lane!
Laimbeer did not deliberately take Bird down. Watch it at 1/4 speed, and you will see it was Rodman's leg that flew up and knocked Laimbeer into a falling Bird. Complicated dynamics, but clear enough. Bird understandably thought Laimbeer attacked him, but he was wrong.
These rosters combined for 9 future hall of famers. Incredible.
6495 $US for a brand new Jeep Commanche pickup truck.
I never knew there was this big hoolahoo regarding David Robinson before he came to the NBA. Really interesting stuff! In all walks of life including in sport, you get penalized when you react to provocation. I wish Bird had connected with that right hook and knocked out that fool Laimbeer. It's really not surprising that a lot of people around the NBA didn't like him.
Some great talent on both teams.
Some? Try 9 total hall of famers and the greatest all around player ever (Bird).
When it comes to the 80's - something that I don't think people remember is that Milwaukee moved from the Midwest Division in the Western Conference to the Central Division and the Eastern Conference in 79/80. It's a sneaky big thing cause though the Lakers would have still dominated the decade - if Milwaukee was still in the west they may have been able to challenge the Lakers years after year opposed to the random Suns Nuggets Spurs Mavericks Rockets year after year. Other than the Celtics and Sixers the Lakers had no rival in the west in the 80's. The Bucks could have been that team to compete with showtime in the 80's.
Detroit played dirty. There is a difference from playing physical and playing outright dirty.
I totally agree! they were known for playing dirty but they always denied it.
Dantley destroyed Bird
No he didn’t. Bird played much better than Dantley overall (had a triple double). Basketball is a lot more than individual scoring. And that’s part of what made Bird the goat. Even if his shot wasn’t falling he’d beat you 7 other ways.
I was there .. this was Saturday game 4 was the very next day (went then too) great times to be a teeenager
This is so freaking COOL!!
Great to watch the game with original commentary. Familiar names on the floor for both teams. Wish the second half was here, too. Watching ☘️ Larry Legend move without the ball is a highlight in itself.
Thank you for original broadcast and commercials and ….. newsbreak!!!
my Celts!
You guys know exactly what LeBron James would do in this era.. and it would be much worse than what he did in his.. ima leave it at that.
Lebron would be faster and stronger than anyone in this series.
That steal by Bird to Rodman tells you anything you need to know about him. Amazing.
❤️ tommy heinsohn super great basketball player, coach& broadcaster very sad bill Walton passing
Pistons didn't need to play hockey. They were an excellent team without all the physical beat down stuff. Even still this is far more drama fueled than today's product.
Loved 80's basketball
37 years ago, this brings tears to my eyes because it was when both my parents were alive and sitting and watching these Celtic games with them, brings back memories of them I'm sure there's plenty of other people reading this that can relate, love you Mom and Dad , miss you both still!
30 years passed and i cant suffer to see ht Pistons winning the Celtics. Just i cant.
37yearsgo My God time flys bye so fast ! 65 stop the world and let me off will ya! Im tired of going round and round !.
Thanks
Excellent
❤️ 1980s nba basketball
Roberts was not good.
With 58 seconds remaining in the 4th quarter, Charles Barkley hit the biggest shot of his entire career. If he had missed that shot then Phoenix gets bounced in the first round and Charles Barkley never gets to play in an NBA Finals series. In my opinion that was the biggest clutch shot he ever hit under the circumstances!
3:03 Quinn was AMAZED by that layup by Dumas! 🤣
🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉memories of basketball❤❤❤❤
Wow, this broadcast, the commercials, nostalgia personified. Wish the Celtics would have put the Pistons away in this game. Was that truck only $6,590????
The game is great, the commercials are stellar
37:25- Isaiah should make ASMR videos!! 😂😂😂😂 Seriously... His voice is angelic. 😂
34:13 Bird steal and assist to McHale. 35:48 Replay
This is when the NBA was the NBA.
back when it was AMERICAN basketball, instead of pure trash we see nowadays. the only similarities from this era was Howard Cosell's toupee versus LebrownJames' wig =D lmao
I loved when the NBA was an all American game. The U.S. doesn't produce basketball players like Bird, McHale, Ainge, Walton, and Laimbeer anymore? I don't buy it.
I hated Isaiahs stupid victory dance. He looked like a Pussy.
I've been trying to find the game that they played James Brown - The Payback. As an intro
Needed Walton
Heinsolm said it was a great game..., actually it was.
Lamidiot did his job commercials r Kool,Rodman a normal human being
