Insert Moving Phase Change Lines into ABA Line Graph in Excel - How To
Переглядів 32 тис.4 роки тому
This video describes how to insert moving phase change lines into behaviour data in microsoft excel. Describes the process outlined in the following journal article: Dubuque, Erick M.,(2015) Inserting Phase Change Lines into Microsoft Excel Graphs, Behavior Analysis in Practice, 2015 Oct; 8(2): 207-211.
Thank you so much for a wonderful video! I followed your "recepie" and now I want to add trend lines within each phase, how do I do that?
Glad you liket it. Now click the + sign on the top right of each graph and select 'trendlines' (usually linear)
@@jennabales2144 thank you so much Jenna! My problem is that I am not able of making a trendline for baseline only, then a trendline for the intervention phase only, and follow-up. When I have made the data set as you have done, the baseline trendline includes all the blank spaces, and continues across phases and is misleading. Fully understandable if you dont answer this question, just thought I could try and see whether you knew, or have made a video on this that I did not find. Best wishes, Linn
great help - thx so much!!
Very, very easy to follow. Heads above others. Thank you!
Thank you for this video, really helpful!
How do you create that gap, my lines are connecting
Late reply, sorry, but I’ll answer in case someone else has the same question. You have a few choices: 1. Add a blank row in the raw data or 2. Right click on the data point on the graph and format the data series to ‘no line’.
would you like to do some consulting work for my comany Safe and Stable Families Wellness Center PC in Richmond VA?
Thank you for sharing, Jenna :)
What is the name of this experimental design? Is it an AB design? or a Multi treatment design?
I guess if it had to be classified it would be an ABC design since there’s no withdrawal or reversal- not a true experimental design, just made up data!
Why is the hidden and empty cells menu not popping up when I press select data?
Not sure. Older version of excel? You could try going to help and search ‘hidden and empty cells’
I really enjoy your channel.
I appreciate that!
You don't explain how you draw the Phase line. You didn't draw it so how did you place it where you wanted? You never explained the process. You assume too much, you must go slower and explain what you are doing otherwise the video is of no value.
At 2:55 in video- click on your ‘insert’ tab and select insert line. As soon as you click anywhere the line will automatically insert itself and then you can drag it to where you want it to go.
Thank you so much for your help🙌
Happy to help!
I forgotten what I learned when I took single case design at the University of California Santa Barbara (UCSB) last year. This ABA Multiple Baseline Graph in Excel has refreshed my memory.
UA-cam won't allow me to turn on subtitles so details of faded sound below: Subtitles for faded sound: 1:56 "delete because ABA graphs don't have grid lines" 2:06 "this one will be frequency and this one will be date" 2:42 "how to insert phase change lines" 3:03 "because we want it to be black" 3:51 "this is my intervention data" 4:10 "if I want to add my second column in there, if I click on the graph" 4:24 "it's automatically going to insert"
This was the easiest video to follow. Thanks so much!
Ma'am you are saving my life
Very helpful thank you!🙏🏻
Your video has been incredibly helpful to me. Thank you so much!
Thanks)
This was totally so helpful. The best video so far explaining this.
thank you so much!
Very Helpful! Thank you!
would it be the same procedure for momentary time sampling?
For MTS you would graph the percent of + intervals, over sessions or days, yes
my husband showed me how to do this lol
Thank you, this was very helpful!
Would love if you made a transcript for the audio. Mostly great video, but you cut out at some pivotal points, making it a bit of a guessing game at some point.
took me a while, but DONE!
Thank you! :)
I'm Brazilian and your video helped me a lot, thank you so much
Thank you so much for sharing, I'm Brazilian and your video helped me a lot
Helpful, but what is happening with the audio?
Your voice completely faded out and I wish I knew what. you said so I could do that part correctly.
I appreciate so much. You are a life saver. I needed this for my thesis.
Thank you!!
it didn't do anything for me, the new data point was not created, why?
even for me
THANK YOU FOR THIS
Out of the 15 videos I watched, this one was the least complicated. Thanks for uploading this tutorial!
When I do this my spaces don’t show up in the graph. Like you have between your first three dates then the second set of dates .my graph doesn’t recognize the space .
Sorry don’t check comments often but I’ll answer anyways! Do you have a space in your raw data? That should add one right away. Alternatively, on the graph select the data point that you want the line to the left to disappear-right click -choose format data series-click on the paint can to get to series options - then on the line select no line
Hello. I wrote mine down like yours but my line graph did not separate between the spaces. Is there a reason?
This video is great! Adding phase change lines in the old fashioned way is much more difficult than this! I do have one question, though: Is there a way to make the line dashed? Edit: I figured out a way after playing around with it on Excel! If you change the fill to "pattern fill" and select horizontal lines, it comes out looking like a dashed line.
Hello, I'm trying to make the line dashed. I changed the fill to "pattern fill", but it doesn't give me an option to choose horizontal lines. What am I looking for to select horizontal lines?
I have followed your instructions on your video which has been very helpful but I can't get the spacing between the baseline and the other data to show up on my graph when I go to make it. It connects all the points together.
MaryLeigh226 is there a blank row in your data set between the data that you want disconnected? That is probably the easiest way. Another way is to right click on the data point that you want disconnected and select format data point and then no line. Hope that helps!
This helped me with my group project thank you! You were properly cited for about 30 other students to see.
Thank you!! This was so helpful
Now how do I copy the entire thing into word?
If your graph is small enough, you can use the snipping tool.
Snipping tool works or you should also be able to just click on the graph and then select copy and then paste into a word doc
Copy and paste only works if your graph is one figure and not multiple-how do you make it one figure? I would greatly appreciate any help!
jenna your a life saver! thank you!!
Awesome video! So easy to follow and do! Thank you!
Thank you so much for taking the time to do this
Thank you so much for this tutorial! I'm totally not learning this last minute the night my paper is due :)
thank you! do you know how you make a dashed phase line?
Sorry didn’t see this. You would have to be drawing in the line to make it dashed
I figured out a way after playing around with it on Excel! If you change the fill to "pattern fill" and select horizontal lines, it comes out looking like a dashed line.
How do you get the baseline and intervention lines to not connect? Mine keep connecting
Sorry late reply, just saw your comment. You can either add an empty row in between sets of raw data or double click to select the data point on the graph, right click and select ‘format data point’, and choose ‘no line’
It was so helpful! Thank you for sharing 😊
