Exhibition of Speed
United States
Приєднався 12 бер 2018
You may have heard of us from a little feature-length video consisting of a handful of Audis all of which featuring a plucky 4.2 V8 engine. Well, here we are. Meet Gavin and Justin. The creators behind the UA-cam series Exhibition of Speed. We drive cars that we believe are meaningful, and actually worth your time. No hype-beast nonsense. No clickbait. Just earnest thoughts on cars for enthusiasts of all kinds.
FERRARI 360: GATED MANUALS!!! (4K)
In over 10 years of Gavin driving other cars, he hasn't had a proper experience in any Ferrari, until today. As it turns out, Justin found himself in the same boat... On the same road.

Mazda 6 Turbo: The Driver's Sedan No One Talks About
Great and very informative video. I'm in the UK and I was thinking of buying a B8.5 Rs5 and this video has just helped me decide to go for it
That's so great to hear! Now is a good time to get into one, seeing how undervalued they are (here in the states at least). Happy motoring!
Thanks for watching!
If you have a manual try waiting 0.2 - 0.5 seconds (off throttle) before even touching the clutch to shift onto the next gear. If done right you get pops and bangs while normal driving. Had people ask me if I had it tube to pop at low rpm. No it's 100% stock. Note: try and shift gears between 2100RPM and 2400RPM (normal driving RPM shifts) for best results. Your welcome in advanced haha If I haven't explained it clearly just message me and I'll try and upload a video. I suck at explaining stuff haha
Haha that's awesome! I get similar results in my Fiesta ST (MBRP Catback). Thanks for watching!
Still surprised if you are talking great Audi 4.2's, what about the 2003 RS6? 450bhp, more bhp than all of the other 4.2's you have there.
We were focusing on the naturally aspirated 4.2s, and the C5 RS6 had turbos.
Time to lose some weight, Gavin!
Would you buy an S5 4.2 with 300K km on it?
That's a hard one. I love high mileage things. My Saab has 340k miles and my Audi has 176k miles. I often say the phrase Miles don't matter, because really they don't. What matters more is the care that vehicle has received and how well it was assembled on the day it was manufactured. In my experience, well cared for high mileage examples tend to generally run better and be more happy mainly because the individual actually cared. People who try to keep their mileage low also try to keep original components that should be replaced as at a certain age and mileage, every component is maintenance. Basically if you get a good deal, it runs well, has a good service history and you're willing to do some work yourself I would say it could be worth it but that's entirely personal preference Justin
Them shifts made me nut
Always wanted a 900, remember seeing one at the pool as a little kid and loved the look.
I upgrade to coilovers on every car i own. Idk if i wanna risk screwing up my "new to me" FiST. 1st world decisions. Smh
I mean... You don't really need to with these cars. Unless you really need all of your cars to be slammed on the ground.
@ExhibitionofSpeed Last thing I want is to screw up a 95% perfect suspension in the quest for 98% ....and end up at 70% but lower.
@jimmynickelz Absolutely!
I find the stock suspension and ride height to be as good as it gets while driving in the real world of potholes and sharp driveway curbs. Any lower, and I'd jack it up.
It's almost too stiff for me. Sice this video has been made, I've upgraded to bronze 16" Konig Dekagrams with Continental ECS 02 for summer, and 15" black steelies with Bridgestone Blizzaks. The new 16" Dekagrams are literally half the weight of the gold Fifteen52 Integrales and is such a dramatic improvement. Like, wow.
'21 DCT owner here. I came from a long, long line of manual cars. SW20, DC5, FA5, 2 EG's, etc., In my opinion, the DCT is best in its class. It's highly customizable and shifts amazing. I daily N custom with creep mode off and sport shift off. If you haven't driven an N car, go try one. The hardest part for me was admitting it was good despite being a Hyundai product. This coming from a 40 year old JDM guy who is definitely bias toward Hondas.
YESSSSSSS
Ehh, sucks that I can't see a review like this on 1996 S6 Avant that is 4.2, but this already starts with 2001. Ehh... Fine.
Unfortunately with the nature of how things go, we didn't get the 4.2 S6 Avant here in the US, which means it needs to be imported here for us to even see one, let alone drive it for the day and give a review on it. The audience for a car that specific may be growing, but is still quite small. Thanks for watching!
What i liked you can drive these car as family car whit a big engine❤
The 5 valve motors (355 included) just have a wail to them that is unbeatable. Great video, guys!
Thanks homie! 355 is a goal car to drive for suuuure!
When I drive my 900, I think of the engineers that designed it. It’s so well laid out. I get this real saabiness that just isn’t there in my newer Saabs.
I often daily my 87 SPG and you hit the nail on the head. It’s a really great car. Bulletproof so far. It’s so well designed. Mine has 240k and I know it’ll last a real long time.
Yep they definitely should! - Justin
the shot at 8:33 sold me. WOW
❤️
Such an amazing sound, especially over 7000rpm. Like the part where you mention the manual swap allows owners to enjoy the car more, I imagine that would be the case as the F1 is tempermental.
Thank you! With cars like this being so emotional, losing the thrill of driving it due to a clunky and uninspiring gearbox can be tough on these cars. It truly is a win-win situation. Thanks for watching!
🔥🔥🔥 I personally feel the manual swap is mandatory unless like you mentioned, you can't dive manual, they are just more pleasant to drive
Thanks James! And we couldn't agree more. Especially when it allows these cars to drive more and not sit around rotting away.
I love how you explain this car amazing job .I hope you could get a toyota aristo jzs161 to do a video on
Oooooh THAT'D be an interesting video!
Awesome shot at 4:46 could watch that all day!
Thank you for noticing!!! We truly put a lot into what we do, and we appreciate when others notice. Thanks for watching!
It's actually fairly hard to roll an unmodified one of these, if you start to roll over one of the rear wheels lifts up and the open differential spins it rather than the wheel on the ground. So you loose drive and slow down, dropping you back onto all three wheels. And on the topic of speed limits, fairly certain the Regal was in production when UK motorways had no speed limits. We only introduced the 70mph limit after somebody did 150mph on the M1. Now if you want something really crazy, take a look at Bond. Not 007, but the Bond Minicar or Bond Bug. The Minicar was a front wheel drive three wheeler, with the engine turning with the front wheel. While the Bug was a tiny sports car based on the Reliant Robin's chassis... ..but cut down to make it smaller. Yes, smaller.
WE NEEED FIESTA VIDEOS
We JUST dropped our most recent video with two Ferrari 360s! We nailed the exhaust audio perfectly and hope you enjoy that!
United Motorsports flashes the engine, the DSG & the Haldex...perceptions & conversations may change!
Perhaps. And that is something that could be said about any kind of issue with any car. "Oh, X Car isn't fast/efficient enough? Buy this tune/part from Y Company to solve Problem Z." We always try to get cars on camera that are as close to original as possible, so we can showcase the purest experience and find the essence of what each car is. We can't deny that there is a joy and a fantasy of solving problems, and in some cases, reverse engineering a car into something new. Unless we state otherwise, that's not really what we are after. Thanks for watching and commenting!
My Winter Car
Excellent choice!
I just saw one that same exact color in Utah and it ripped up a gtr
Thanks for watching! I imagine that you're referring to the Rossion? -Gavin
@@ExhibitionofSpeed yes I am. It ripped like a bat out of hell
Heck yea! A tip of the hat the the owner🎩
Excellent video! Anyone know where i can find more information on modifying the 1991-1993 V8 4.2L?
I've wanted one for years and now I can afford one! It's smaller than my'72 Datsun 1200, which I loved, so I can't wait to get my hands on one and drive it like I stole it! It will fit in my tiny garage too!
It was so much fun! Come circle back after you get yours!
Hi brother, actually I have a problem with my vanderhall that when I turn off the engine the front & back lights stay on I can’t turn off even with the ignition switch in park position. I should disconnect the electricity from the main battery
We are not associated with the Vanderhall brand, or any of it entities. Have you tried contacting them?
Great segment (from a fellow Swede). I had a series of SAAB 96s in the old days and they were the coolest ever: 1968 (Shrike) 1966 (Type 95 Wagon) and 1972 (Type 95 Wagon). Thanks.
Thank you for watching!
Regarding 4:15: The original tire size was 165R-13 on most 124 Spiders, with 1981 onward having 185/60R-14 as an option which was made standard when Pininfarina took over the importation of the Spider. I had a 1979 Spider that was also creme colored. It was a wonderful car. I also had a 1975 Fiat X1/9 that I bought in August 1979 and kept until 2001. They were both wonderful cars to cut the canyon roads with as I made my commute from the San Fernando valley over the mountains to jobs in West LA and Beverly Hills. Now I have my 1972 Datsun 240Z (for about 30 years) for my automotive therapy sessions.
I just got mine not too long ago, I have wanted one of these for around 3 years now and I did it after so long. A dream come true
Congratulations!
Just got my low mileage 2020 VN PP 6spd.
Nice!
Bro your complaining about good brakes.... beta crap
No, I'm highlighting a shit chassis. Read up homie. Thanks for watching.
Also, *you're
I will forever check for 900 SPGs for sale in my area for a project, they were just cool as hell
I've always thought about a rally build with the engine turned up a bit would make for a fun project. -Gavin
47:47, every generation of Honda civic type r while they were n/a also had 100hp/liter while being n/a. Even the eg6 sir ii with the b16 had 100hp/liter. Definitely impressive but there are far more than 3 cars
That's a valid point.
Over powered, under weighted. Said no car guy ever...
"Better used on long, straight, empty highways." How's that?
Good video
Thanks!
NSX was the first daily driver exotic
We did an entire generational film on the NSX! Feel free to check it out if you haven't already! We really love those cars.
@@ExhibitionofSpeed it’s one if my dream cars. I’m more than content with my built S5, but an NSX would be a blast on a track. My S5 prefers the highway
What size tires do she have on there? Looks like it’s staggered. I love the way it sit.
I just bought mine with 230,000kms in United Grey. Mine is 3915/5000 (according to the steering wheel placard). I've spent north of $5000 just trying to refresh suspension/bushings etc...but I'm starting to feel why these cars are so beloved :)
Nice!
Newer clutch is more refined. Unheard of.
❤
Who could add all that to this car if I bought one? I live near mpls. MN. I would want the knock sensor and traction control but I’d like to be able to turn off trac control. Is there a shop nearby mpls.
I had a 2011 audi a3 with a s-tronic box and now own a mk5 r32, weirdly the mk5 dsg feels way better.. i thought itd be sluggish in comparison but its not
I'd take the mk4 manual over the mk5. Id rather the 8p A3 vr6 with the DSG if i went auto. Or get the mk2 TT VR6 manual
Finally! Someone with some sense has entered the chat!
I really like what Hyundai have been doing with their N division. I bought a 2013 Genesis coupe, bk2, 3.8, and it's been great. I've put 143k on it, lightly modded it, and decided to add a 23 Elantra N last year, and so glad i did! Hyundai / Kia have really been trying to listen to the car community with their designs, and some of their performance stuff. I loved the Kia Stinger, and the N stuff with Hyundai is such a bargain. I was torn between getting a Veloster N, Kia Stinger GT2, Camaro SS, or Elantra N. I mainly decided on the Elantra N was due to the price and the warranty
Gents - very insightful, job well done! i'm still driving my 2013 b8.5 rs5 (also pared with Co. car 2013 b8.5 rs4 for 4 years). what i could add on top of your findings: b8.5 rs5 can be compared to - leonardo da vinci in terms of the interior / exterior design and engineering johan cruyff in terms of the elegance ronald reagan in terms of the reliability and efficiency levi's 501 in terms of the durability led zepp & deep purple in terms of the engine sound beethoven in terms of the audio system quality montreal canadiens hockey team of 70-s in terms of the agility german shepherd dog in terms of handling and response michael douglas in terms of the most handsome and sexy man italian riviera calm breeze when driving the comfort mode nuclear power station when driving the dynamic mode
Excellent comparisons! Thank you so much for watching!
I bought my 15 ST in 2020 with 103k miles for 7 grand from Toyota now it has 153k miles currently
Nice! I just crossed 85k on mine!
@@ExhibitionofSpeed I haven’t had to many reliable issues so far, thankfully
