The other has a 3.0 single turbo making 420hp, has a lengthy 4-speed gearbox, and has its engine in the wrong place. Both are quintessential versions of cars that WANT YOU DEAD. I really like what Hyundai have been doing with their N division. I bought a 2013 Genesis coupe, bk2, 3.8, and it's been great. I've put 143k on it, lightly modded it, and decided to add a 23 Elantra N last year, and so glad i did! Hyundai / Kia have really been trying to listen to the car community with their designs, and some of their performance stuff. I loved the Kia Stinger, and the N stuff with Hyundai is such a bargain. I was torn between getting a Veloster N, Kia Stinger GT2, Camaro SS, or Elantra N. I mainly decided on the Elantra N was due to the price and the warranty

    Still have my original 2004 R32 Blue - and every time I drive it, the magic I felt in 2004 when driving away from the dealership, is still there. Unbelievable. I live in SoCal - 158k on it now - and I still have folk stop to comment on it - or give the thumbs up on the freeway - motorcyclists , car drivers, truckers. Happens 3-4 times every month. And it's a 20 year old VW ! Magical. It's still hard to get used to. Parked next to a 170k Mercedes and it is the R32 that gets the looks / questions. Heater core leaked after about 14 years and the timing chain replaced after 18 years (That was expensive - had the clutch replaced also whilst in the shop although the clutch was still ok) - New suspension of course. VW got it spot on with the R32. Plenty of cars faster or more exotic...but there is nothing I would want to replace it with. Makes even driving to the dentist a joy !!

    It's a GT car in a hatch body. Every blogger compares it to a hot hatch which it isn't. The gearbox is fine when you know how it works and makes decisions. Anyone who drives like a moron will confuse it. It drops to 6 quickly in drive to save fuel. Stick it in sport if you don't want that. Drive smoothly and the dsg is still world class. I've driven more modern dual clutches that are much worse.

    • @ExhibitionofSpeed
      @ExhibitionofSpeed Місяць тому

      HOOO HOO HOO BOY. Let's unpack this one. To be completely candid here, calling ANY Mk5 Volkswagen a GT-Car is outrageous and trying to call one that is honestly a joke.. Not even the Mk7 or Mk8 have gotten there yet (really). They may not have been going for the same demographic as people who wanted the smallest and most nimble and chuck-able hatch, but if they weren't trying to make a hot hatch, then why would they literally integrate a checkered flag into the logo of the model? I don't know what you call driving like a moron, but when I shift up or down, I would like a new gear, and I want it now, please and thank you.

    • @ExhibitionofSpeed
      @ExhibitionofSpeed Місяць тому

      Id love to know where on earth you're getting that figure from, because that's not correct. This being an SPG, it has 175 HP and did 0-60 in 8.5 seconds which in the late 80s was a respectable figure. As far as just as much as "any civic", that's a laughable statement. Only the top end fifth Gen Civics broke that number and it wasn't until the ninth Gen that most of the base model cars were above that HP numbers. So by that measure, maybe 50% of civics ever made have as much as or more than 143 HP. You don't have to like Saabs, but if you're going to spit "facts", at least view things in context and make them accurate, because none of that was. -Justin

    Just a clarifier, The V8 used in the C4 chassis was first used in a standard S4 and S6. There was no such thing as an S4 plus and the S6 plus used a slightly different, more powerful engine.

    • @ExhibitionofSpeed
      @ExhibitionofSpeed Місяць тому

      Sorry I think we may have omitted some things just to make it a little quicker, but the standard S4 and S6 cars had the five cylinder and optional V8 whereas the plus cars all had the V8. I think your feedback could be precious to me. I am selling my vw troc R and want to come back to a s6 (2003) or c5 rs6 (2004) I was wondering which one you would recommend? Gearbox issues ? And what make most difference except the hp. Fyi I am in mountain alps resorts with snow in winter 🙏

    • @ExhibitionofSpeed
      @ExhibitionofSpeed 2 місяці тому

      I would 100% say the S6. The RS6 is an amazing piece of kit, but it was a big technological leap for the time given it was the fastest sedan in the world! There's quite a hefty RS6 tax on parts and labor given so many are specific to that car and nothing else. The S6 on the other hand has only a handful of primary issues, and in a lot of cases they're already dealt with. The gearbox is one, but in my experience they can be pretty reliable but are slow slushbox autos and their death is either valve body or torque converter, timing belt being done is another, oil cooler pipe is a third and front suspension is the fourth.

    • @MrsCap2
      @MrsCap2 2 місяці тому

      @@ExhibitionofSpeed thank you so much for this feedback. So the big difference is the cost of part, right ? What about the reliability in general? I understood that the gearbox in rs6 was more reliable than the s6 is that correct ?

    You will daily a car more often than you thrash it! I've owned a lot of GTIs 4/5/6 - S3 8L, 8V and now an R32 mkv. I can imagine the Mk4 R32 being closest to the S3 8L, which was an electrical gremlin and really hard to thrash around the streets or between traffic lights to 'express' myself. The R32 can thrash far more easily and far more controlled than the Mk4 (gti) and then resume casually driving rather than keeping a buzz about itself. It can do it all, its just a master of none - apart from the noise.

      The noise is really the only department that it excel in. It's true that thrashing/pushing a car takes up very little of the ownership time frame. Thanks for watching! -Gavin
