Bro how? Links please
@@KhanJoltrane some switchback straps from Amazon.. Have to open the headlights to put them in..
Xkglow 2piece 24" sequential switchback led strip kit
This is awesome! I just looked it up. To do this did you tap the wires for the turn signal only? Did you remove the parking lights?
@@KhanJoltrane parking lights and turn signals are both in the headlights housing..
Sweeeet
Thanks...
Cleaaann as hell. Love my LS460
How well has this repair lasted? I have an 07 with the EXACT same issue.
What’s the name of those wheels?
Honestly don't know.. its a clients car.. not too mention many years ago
Take care of it...mine was neglected by the previous owner, both A pillars are destroyed, the floors has been rusting fron inside the pillars the roof leak was folowing the seam and destroyed a foot of structure behind the airbags....a nigthmare....1 month later , getting closer to fixing it...prevention would have helped 😂
Glad to help... Sucks that people don't take better care of their FJs!!!
im having the exact problem right now, i thought i fixed it like 10 times already, but this time i got fed up and removed the entire headliner. i also thought its from the bolt holes. ill have a look at the entire seam to check that like you were saying. i put some seam sealer on some of it already, but i may have todo the entire thing like you showed. any other advice you can offer?
yes make sure you clean the outer edge well... I used a wire brush wheel attached to my cordless drill.. use clear 100% silicone and allow it to dry 24hrs before full assembly
love the big boy LS
just bought an L version today
That's sick I'm gonna have to get that for my lexus
Who makes them?
Muth mirror systems but they only provide the mirror.. I got mine with the heater option and tied that to the defrost signal
Good to know whats in store for 5th gen 4runners as they age... especially for peeps that overload the roof w aftermarket racks/tents w 400-600lbs on top sleeping people lol.
Glad to help.... inexpensive fix... just a lil time consuming..but my results have lasted yrs so far
DOPE!
SLAPPIN!!!
Silicone goes on the outside not the inside. if you seal it on the inside it will just work its way around it. Need to do it like a roof on a house with overlapping protection so the water always is directed out and away.
if you paid attention I did silicone the entire exterior drip rail after cleaning the area 1st. then I also sealed the interior edges.. Zero leaks since.. but thanks for the comment..
@@dclarke2814 I did but just trying to help anyone else who has the same problem. Because like at the beginning where you had siliconed around the inside of the roof bracket. If it was leaking there all that's going to do is push it several inches down the road and it'll leak there. So much easier to use the structure of the car and other items like a house.
@@dclarke2814 because from the top of the house to the bottom of the house everything is overlapping to keep the water going away from the inside of the house because as we all know there's lots of things in a house that will not tolerate water. I get it you didn't know any better but at the same time who else is going to watch your video and then slather silicone on the inside of their roof of their FJ thinking that it's helping.
Was this a kit from Viper?
Thank you for this. I did a previous repair and sealed the rack bolt holes and retaining clips but never knew I had to silicone the seam. So thanks again for this. Cheers
black car with chrome trim so ugly..... the trim stand out more then the car. very bad eye sore color. silver best for lex car
This is great and would love to do this but now looking for dynamic white to amber bulbs for a build like this!
that's how the switchback bulbs came originally white/amber... I had to put an amber lens over the light to keep it the same
Thank you for the video. My 2014 is starting to leak.
G’day from down under! How did you manage to spread the silicone so evenly? Im looking at using Sikaflex, however, it’s quite thick and not runny, so tricky to apply.
Is this an 07 problem or does this happen to every FJ ? ....I have a 2010 with 250,000 km & I've never had this .
Name and specifications of the tires and rims?
This was a clienrs car..
Looks Like it was Built Within a Carbon Fiber Trunk.Classic shit Bro.😎👌
Rims are dope they would look nice on my gs430
I would not want it to blink in the mirror I need to turn from. It be a bit blinding.
Great mod, Can you explain how did you do it, i am interested
Absolutely.. gave description in previous comment.. Switchback led tied to parking light & turn signal.. also added Muthco mirror
Where did you get this at? I have a 2019 Lexus ES350. Will this work on it?
it's completely custom... not available for purchase..
Niceee what year do u have
2007
Just noticed on my 2007 drivers side above my door
Skip to:014 You are Welcome
Can this only be done to the overseas headlights? Mine has the headlight sprayer which creates a separation through the nike check.
2010-2012 us spec too. No sprayer
What the heck lol
yeah high end quality build on the Lexus Flagship... lol... I'm currently looking at some Mercedes... Lexus seriously dropped the ball on this one
Very helpful!!! Thanks
How did u did this
I installed a switch back (or dual element) led in the stock light housing.. an ran a wire into the truck to the blinker wires above the fuse box... the mirror is a product by Muthco.com or MUTH Mirror (mine are heated as well as turn signal)
How long did it take to do this?
What year is that 460?
2008
@@dclarke2814 do have it still, & would you consider selling?
@@eugenebutler8722 thats not my 460.. my 460 is currently in the bodyshop getting some touch up work done... mine is an 07.. doubt I'd sell.. but anything is possible
@@dclarke2814 Would you mind asking the owner If they would consider selling and get back to me?
@@eugenebutler8722 Sure
Thank you for this, I have an 07 and haven't had the problem "yet" but when I do, I'll know right where to go and what to do.
Are those 20’s or 22’s?
22".....
Shibumi1 thanks for the response, in your opinion, I have a 2013 Lexus gs450h, white, low AF miles and In mint condition, would you go with 20’s or 22’s and why, I’m leaning towards the Rohanna Rc7’s or the Vossen CV3’s I like deep concave. Orrr do you have any other suggestions as far as rims, tires and size.
@@johnnyblaze2257 I prefer Vossen myself.. size will be personal preference
Shibumi1 thanks, the reason I’m asking about size is how large the car is and the size of the wheel well.
any update??
still a work in progress... back at the bodyshop for touch ups
You didn’t clean the metal before adding silicone?!
actually I did.... i used a wire brush wheel to clean the area as well as mineral spirits. But seeing as I was not about to repaint the entire roof. I didn't strip down to bare metal...
Shit I bought an LS500. Cheaper built than a Corolla.... 😔 I had a dash rattle on that trim above the gauges.
Very cool! But you need to put something on that back wall, it looks pretty bare
Should have used a product called seam sealer..made for that application
well the original seam sealer failed... so why would I use it again? its been years now an the silicone is holding up 100%....
Incorrect sir, I sell silicone for a living. 100% silicone, especially those produced for commercial market (Momentive, Pecora, Dowsil, Tremco and Sika) are the best for this. Just because another product claims it is "made for" a certain use there is nothing out there that will last as long or bond as strong as a commercial weatherproofing silicone.
nice i have 2009 ls 460 .what did you charge to do or consult me thank you Mickey 6613126164
Let me check to see what the parts cost me...
Disappointing build quality. I don't think I could do that with my 2009 Camry LOL
exactly... Lexus has fallen far in the passed few yrs.. there's not 1 i would currently purchase
anyone ever figure out a take over solution ? i have a 2013
there will be no takeover solution from Viper.. Lexus won't allow it.. if you were so inclined you could have someone wire in a complete alarm remote (using the dball3 as the bypass module only) then link that too a smart start gps to start it from the phone because 3x lock start isn't compatible with the dball3 connected as an interface.. then MAYBE you could have takeover.. "maybe" as the takeover process would be about the same as starting the car again anyway... 🤞🤞
What's that track called
First, thanks for the video. Have the same issue. Second, how do I remove the strips? Are they just sitting there under the roof rack mounts? Glue? Will they bend or break? Do I pry them up? Are they metal? Thanks for any and all info!
yes they are pressed in.. not too tightly..
I use a plastic pry. I bought a full set on Amazon for $15 they come in handy for nearly everything
@@dclarke2814 Alright, thanks for the info. Just didn't wanna break anything! 😃
Hey please let me know how do I get the add-on remote start on my 2007 Lexus 460 LS...
where are u located?
I’m in the DMV
@@malikking8953 there are a few options. I dont know any shop up there that can do the install.. but u can use either a Directed DB3, Directed 4x10 or 5x10, as well as the Directed/Viper Ds4 (which is the newest unit available)
What were your tell-tale clues it was leaking ? I have a dampness sometimes after it rains on the floor mat that I can't figure out where it is coming from.
I had watermarks on the headliner just above the A pillar. I'd say pull the kick panels & a pillars then look for dried watermarks.. if u cant find any. pull the seats out an have someone DRENCH the fj while u crawl around to find the water..... sounds silly but it works
