    But what are the photos like? This is just reading spec sheets. Colours, dynamic range, RAW file latitudes - these are more important, no?

    • @everythingfilmequipment
      @everythingfilmequipment 8 місяців тому

      For photography the photos are comparable. The r6 generally has better performance for autofocus and with it being mirrorless there are its own advantages such as better information and controls. The differences will be on the margins, such as higher contrast scenes that use the DR or lower light situations that push the high ISO capability.. If you were to take photos for some sort of live event chances are you will have more usable/keeper photos from the R6 than you would from the 5D. If you have the time to set things up and want something more affordable the 5d is great and picture quality still holds up.

    I've owned a 5D Mark III since its launch in 2012, and just recently moved over to the R8 (which is slightly cheaper but much newer than the original R6). The primary reason for the change was the autofocus performance, since the 5D still holds up superbly for still photography in good lighting conditions -- the image quality between the two is comparable at low ISOs.

      Yes this would work well for this. I would suggest that the room would need to be a bit dimmed to have the most output from the light.

    Great review! Everything you said is true about this camera. It will take great shots and it is only the ability of the photographer that could limit it. To me, at this price point it is a good buy, or if you have it, it is a keeper.

    Today I own and use a 5D Mark iii as my main camera. I had a 5D Mark ii for a few years before I purchased and upgraded to the 5D Mark iii. The light and dark adjustments in manual mode are way easier on the 5D Mark iii as compared to the 5D Mark ii. The auto focus works way better on the 5D Mark iii as compared to the 5D Mark ii. I like that the 5D Mark iii uses SD card and Compact Flash memory cards. The 5D Mark ii only uses one Compact Flash card slot.

    • @og3139
      @og3139 Рік тому

      The is difference from SD to CF on the 5Diii, the SD no matter how fast will take time to free the buffer during burst mode. While the CF slot is faster. Also if you use both the SD and CF the camera is going to adapt to the slowest card. I use mine mostly in single mode, but is good to know in case you want a fast buffer to keep using burst mode

    I agree with most of your observations, except for the dynamic range part. DR is actually worse than my cropped sensor X-Pro1 from the same era and apparently slightly worse than its 5D2 predecessor. So my skies frequently get blown out. But the focus system is brilliant and out of camera results are excellent, especially the vibrant colours as you say. I bonded with this camera immediately, despite never having owned any other Canon camera until picking it up brand new at the end of 2014. The ergonomics are superb and the rubbery grip very reassuring. It feels like a professional camera and usually makes me feel better about my own standards too.

The 5DIII never fails me. I get lots of compliments on the results. Because it is FF, the pictures have something special you don't get otherwise.

    Well I hope it is, I’m getting back into photography after 10 years, still have an old 5d and 50d and still have my ef lenses, I just bought one yesterday, as I don’t have a lot of money and looking for a new camera, saw it on a well known camera shop website in UK comes with a warranty from them, I paid slightly more than I would’ve privately but the camera was rated 9+ by the shop and described as near mint with an approximate shutter count of 6000, just awaiting delivery. 👍

    • @everythingfilmequipment
      @everythingfilmequipment Рік тому

      only a 6000 shutter is great for this camera im sure you'll have a lot of time left with his camera. We still see lots of wedding photographers and portrait photographers using this camera at a professional level wether its there main camera as they are super comfortable with it or a second camera. Even though this camera is over 10 years old the pictures still live up to this date. Let us know how things go with the camera.

    • @everythingfilmequipment

      According to the Atomos site they support the C200 which from the looks of it the c200 uses the RJ45 cable. Although we have not tested this i'd imagine using the r45 cable from the camera to the monitor should give you camera controls.

    Hello and thanks for the video. I have a question, as I am considering this arm+vest. In the attachment for the arm, I see four knobs. Are all of them to set the balance? Or the two facing the front are just to secure the attachment, and not the horizontal roll axis? I would be very curious to know, as it would be probably the only solution at this price point that allows to adjust the balance for two axis and not only one. (except for Tilta Float, that has other problems, though) Thank you very much for your answer!

    Thanks for this video gys. GREAT. I have a question: The fan noise emitted at the lowest brightness, compared to your test already done on high. Is there a remaquable difference ? I need a monitor, where my Sennheiser MKE 440 is put directly to the shinobi and emits no noise. Shall I better go for the 5" version ?

    • @everythingfilmequipment
      @everythingfilmequipment 2 роки тому

      On our tests it was in the summer during a pretty warm season. To answer your question I used a NTG 4+ attached to my ursa where the mic sits right beside the monitor. With the fans on even on quiet mode I still could hear the fan but it was very subtle and personally I didn't think it was an issue in most situations especially if you are using a directional microphone. If you were to use most on camera mics from my experience it picked up the monitor very noticeably. If you want us to do a short video going over this through a few different setups we could do that. Otherwise if you want zero noise or issues the 5" definitely will have less noise but also half the brightness.
