Say the word motorcycle and the most common image that comes to mind is that of the classic leather clad biker, denim jeans, and loud pipes. What image do you get when you hear the word scooter? Most people think of a little old lady and her Hoveround or maybe a little kid on a razor scooter or at the very least a Moped. Some might think about a Vespa. Many might associate the motorcycle with freedom or rebellion, the scooter is associated with fuel economy or commuting, but the fact is that many scooter enthusiasts are just as fervent as their motorcycle counterparts. Just like a vintage Harley rider loves his 58 Panhead more than his own mother, so does the owner of a 58 Vespa GS 150. We spend thousands of dollars to meticulously restore our vintage scooter, travel hundreds of miles to attend events, ride with reckless abandon and live for the lifestyle. The dangers are just the same; a sandy road, a careless driver, we face the same hazards but never garner the same respect.

Sorting a "67" Smallframe Part 2
Переглядів 860Рік тому
In part two I make some much needed modifications, and discover some new issues along the way. I spend all day and night getting this little lady ready to head out for a day of riding and games at the continuation of the Crescent City Crawl. I also make a modification to the rear brake and fabricate a custom T5 brake conversion set up. Photo Credit: Susan Poag Additional Videography: Jason John...
Sorting a 1967? Allstate (probably) Part 1 - I don’t know what this thing is.
Переглядів 657Рік тому
I’m finally getting to this late 60’s smallframe that’s been sitting in the shop. I was so busy working on other scooters I only have two hours to go get this little lady sorted out so I can ride to my local scooter rallies meet and greet. She “ran when parked” but the suspension is trashed so I’m going to swap the front and rear and spiff her up with a new seat before I take off and see how sh...
Fixing up a "1960's" VBB... Yeah, its a bodge
Переглядів 2,2 тис.Рік тому
Today I'm getting to work on this mid 60's VBB. I actually don't know the year of it, and who's to say its even correct? That's because this is whats referred to in the vintage Vespa world as a "bodge" which is short for Vietbodge and refers to Vespa's that have been "restored" in Asia. There are tons and tons or them out there for sale, found on eBay usually they can often be built from multip...
Resurrection of a 1974 Vespa Rally 200

On the anniversary of what would have been the 16th Big Easy Weekender Scooter Rally here's a look at the raffle scooter from the 6th BEW held in New Orleans. This 1974 Femsatronic Rally 200 was the big prize back in 2013. Its been sitting for some amount of years from a blown clutch side seal and and full of ethanol fuel that did a number on this ol girl. I strip and rebuild the engine, and br...
Fat Tuesday - Mardi Gras 2023
Переглядів 299Рік тому
It's Carnival in New Orleans again, and another Mardi Gras Day video! A little different than last years. Still without comments... For reasons. This year I was busy making pizza with my friends Leo and Marco the night before, I staged up a car for Fat Tuesday and rode Leo's Vespa home, then brought it back in the morning. Another beautiful day doing one of the many fun things there are to do i...

Bennett's scooter was STOLEN, and Recovered!
Переглядів 1,5 тис.Рік тому
Just like the title says, my friend Bennett's 1979 P125X was stolen and he managed to recover it on his own. It rolls back into the shop for some basic repairs as the thief messed with the wiring, it had been laid down and they did some other questionable "work" to it. I get it back together and in good running shape and Bennett regales me with his harrowing story of triumph over adversity. Sho...
I'm back! Back to working on Vespas and Leo's is back in the shop
Переглядів 712Рік тому
I took a hiatus from life when work called me out of town for several months. I got back, and got back to work on a previously unfinished repair that took some odd twists and turns and ended up just being a pain in the butt. My friend Leo dropped his 1979 P200 off for a little maintenance and it ended up turning into several months of me not working on it, and creating my own problems, but hey....

What is your size ?? About 6'2 230 ??
It is criminal that you are not getting paid. Here in Dallas you would make a good living working on these bikes !!!! You have a lot of talent.
You do a great job with the bikes. Where did you get your training ???
Excellent work sir
Ride on ride on
Anything new coming? You disappear from time to time...
We would refuse to work on the pile of poo 💩 we have done in the past in the uk people have had the fold up the list is endless do work on the then open a can of worms fix one thing then theres something else
Great video and very useful. I am currently fitting the exact same upgrade to my PX150, question, is it right that a head gasket is not required as there is not one in the kit and could not see if you fitted one?
Anything new happening?
Where you been?!? No new videos in 5 months? You all good?
I'm fine. I fell into a hole of other hobbies, work, and life. I started shooting another rebuild but it went sideways. I just wasnt into it. Ive been missing my vespa world though, and thinking about getting back to it. My poor shop is a disaster! I need to get back on the horse though... but its almost mardi gras again.
@@americanscooter504Well there’s only so many times I can rewatch all your old videos. 😅 Glad to hear you’re good, hopefully maybe some scooter Mardi Gras goodness? Like how many beads can fit on one Vespa? 🎉😃👍🏻🛵
I've actually figugred it out, and tried to haul quite more than one would think. Durring the parades the rider will also toss their trash which incudes the bags they haul their beads in, and you can pick them up along the route after the parade is over, or even just grab them as they are being tossed. Its how people haul their loot home. Three on the back rack, one on the floor for me. Anyway, I'll get back to it at some point! Money and time are my two biggest obstacles. @@grumpyjay215
Thinners to clean tank. Pool acid to clean rust. Red etch primer of best quality to stop rust. 15 years of experience 😂 Test etch primer with gasoline first. South africa etch primer works well. Even after 6 years. No issue
Or, save all that time and energy, and chemicals...
Absolutely fantastic- I do this to every P range and large frame I get through. It makes the rear brake much more effective!
Its the best mod!
Great video . Got my subscription for sure . Great work
That's as much fun as I've had in ages! Thanks for Part Deux...I learned a few more things I have no reason to know, and I got to spend some time with scooter folks. Win/win!
To paraphrase: "It's not registered...or insured..." I laughed my ass off! I grew up in Jackson, MS, spent a LOT of time in Nawlins before moving to California over 30 years ago. You, sir, are a wonderful embodiment of the best of both New Orleans folks and scooter riders. I really dig your channel. Thanks for your content...and keep it up, please!
"Don't huff the grease..." Words to live by!
Dude! You sho' 'nuff live in N'awlins! I grew up in Jackson, Mississippi and have spent plenty of time in N.O. This rebuild series tickled me no end! Great job on a formerly orphaned scoot. BTW, we had a honest-to-gawd hurricane/tropical storm blow through Palm Springs last month. First time here in 84 years! I'll start another vid from you shortly.
The way Marco is there and he doesn’t get involved kinda makes me think maybe its cos he’s a biiiiiiiiiiatch! 😂🤣💀
You give the same speech every vid I watch of yours…Y’kno the dont have a patreon, cant remember what ya done blah blah blah…
I dont understand, why isn’t Marco fixing his own scooter?
If you guys drove on the correct side of the road like we do in England then your sidecar wouldn’t be in the way of the engine.🤷🏻♂️
So you need a $34 kit and a $65 tool! 😂🤣💀
Questa e uguale a quella di mio babbo negli anni 60,poi prese una rally 200.
Bellissima però per me e più bella con lo stop originale piaggio.
Bello vespone 200 px🤩🤩
Love it !
No Way!! Sweet man! Hope you enjoyed or are enjoying the vacation.
mixture screw is 1 ,3 quarters turn buddy, reason fuel is running down engine case is that 2 half open is to much.. ive been rebuilding vespa px for many years ..regards from uk
I had my tx in to get a new top end fitted to the engine. The mechanic said the engine itself was the dirtiest one he had ever seen he scrapped about a kilo of crap of the block could of caused the thing to over heat. I blamed the previous owner 😅
I know it was a while ago but don't those " it will be a a quick job" type jobs never work out like that. Loved that ladies combination and the Stella sounded sweet.
got one of those right now. was supposed to be "in and out" and its just beating me to death
Go on Bennett get that tramps gear off the Scoot.
Bennett should of batterd that smell bag who stole his scooter. Lucky to get it back without too much damage.
That's a brilliant starter scooter,
Love it !
Yourself and Marco are like brothers. Starting to think about putting some upgrades on my own tx 200.
Love the format style of you videos. Too many restoration videos showing a flawless and mistake free restoration process, wheres as i rather see the mistakes that inevitably happen even with a mechanic as skilled as yourself.
the only skill I got is failure!
@americanscooter504 😆. To be able to use unsuitable parts by modifying them and making them work is a skill lacking theses days, most scooter mechanics I meet are just parts replacers and are incapable of thanking on the fly.
Love the content and the style in which you film and edit everything. Much respect from Ireland.
"Not too bad" that was excellent. It sounded great and lashed up and down the road with no drama. Great mini series ( would have loved to see the plate of carbonara)
Ive though about doing an episode about just this too! The carbonara....
Stop smoking in the garage bennet 😂
Thank you for the very good video☺
Would drilling the heart out make any difference to a stock jetted carburetor?
it aint gonna hurt!
@@americanscooter504 The bbs boards are all over the place on the idea of doing it. Saying it’s not worth it with stock jets. But better on bigger jets. Have you ever done it?
@@grumpyjay215 yup. you can find a million different opinions about any given topic. In this instance, I will it affect your performance so much that your winning races as a result of it? No. Is it going to hurt anything or be a detriment to performance? No.
@@americanscooter504 Thanks man, I’ve been in the garage for the last two days up jetting and putting in GGR Hot Reed in my Stella. But thanks again for the response, and I love your videos. By now I think I’ve watched all of them. Also caught your short at SIP. I hope there’s a video to come about your visit too. 🛵🤘🏻
@@grumpyjay215 ohh god. I am getting killed by a stella right now! Its been such a massive pain in the ass! I had big plans for a vid about SIP and my trip but I dont think there's enough to really make a good go of it.
are you using BGM exhaust? the sound exactly same like mine, i like it, sound good when its rev
nice video, i love that barberque rack, its dificult to fine here in Indonesia, salam satu vespa sejuta saudara

Another brilliant video Buddy. 🛵👍
just wait for part 2!
Just found you channel... Good stuff man. I'm mentally preparing for some for some up grades to my 05 Stella Fireball... New crank before it blows up on me, possibly a BBK and new shocks... I will spend the rest on the rainy Memorial Day watching all your old episodes...
Man I can't tell you how many times & Hours spent and wasted staring at, trying to fix, being frustrated by my scooters over the years until I switched to Electric Conversions. Now nothing but riding.
