How to Set HIKVision Recorders to record in Motion Detection, not Continuous
This is a very quick video showing how to set up motion detection on HIKVision Turbo recorders using Version 4 firmware. Other HIKVision recorders have a similar interface. By default, HIKVision recorders record continuously record, which is a complete waste of space and makes it much harder to review specific events.

Very very helpful thank you
Helpful thanks ❤
Using a log of that type to peeling so thin ephiles, makes me think seriously about your professionalism
What do you do with the unused pairs ?
Nothing, just wrap them back over the sheath.
Thank you for clarifying
Thanks
I need Hikvision NVR to always record continuous and also motion indexing. I have used other brands and "cont + mot" is pretty standard. Hik just dont want to?
It has to be the most infuriating thing... A night owl system that's old as hell has this simple ass feature and this new system doesn't? Like what the hell?
Same, it's a joke.

Thank you so much
Thanks alot
Thank You 🙏🏻
You’re welcome 😊
How long can that cable be in distance
And it DOES NOT matter what color you use. As long as you use it on both ends. Smh
The pitch of the twist on each pair is different, so you need to use the blue pair for maximum distance. You should read up on the relationship between capacitance, impedance and inductance on a twisted cable. It explains how Ethernet cable works, very interesting and useful.
@stoned You are wong.
Why are you teaching these oblivious home owners this? Lol 😂

So will hooking like this, you need to do it on the camera end and also the end to hook to the DVR? Does the balun that hooks to the DVR side of the set up also need a power source plugged in ?
These baluns don't need any power, you use the DC plugs to supply power to the camera.
hello mister I have a question? I have in my store 16 channels samsung dvr(sdr-c75300) I want to replace it for Hikvision NVR 32CH 24 PoE The cameras I have are from Samsung (sdc-9441bc) 1080p Full HD resolution Is this adapter suitable for me to install my cameras to? Hikvision NVR plugs with the cat 6 cable? If in the field you can make an episode, how is the method of converting the wires of the BNC cameras to the NVR device, meaning the first party that is installed in the camera is installed through the BNC adapter, and the other side is installed with a direct rg45 wire in the NVR device? Is this method valid and the camera transmits what is recorded to the NVR? Thank you very much
Motion recording icon does not disappear..!? So it registers continuously.. I have the same model. But I'm having trouble with this option...
Merci pour la vidéo.. Mais icône de le rengistrement ne disparaîse pas..?
You need to ensure that both event recording and schedule are enabled, (ticked), also that you have a region set in event recording, (normally the full screen), and that sensitivity is set greater than zero, normally around 40-60%

Do you cannect the cat6 cable directly to the 220V power source?
Never, ever connect 220v to the baluns, they will go on fire and maybe set your house on fire and electrocute you in the process.
Hi , We have done a install using hikvision color vu 8mp Poc cameras and only 1 camera switches on and has very bad ghosting while the other 2 are off completely. We used a Cat 6 cable for that and is the first time it's happened to us , we are tempted to just run rg59 shotgun cable and power the cameras from a separate splitter psu
For how many meter you can use UTP cable in between the balun ? Can you use it for 400 meter?
Its depend in amps
Thank you for the video. Is it advisable to triple the wires for the power? I usually only use pairs for power, however, on the rare occasion a camera will go black and white during the day? I’m using the standard Qvis 4 way power supply and a single cat5e cable for each camera. Sometimes if I use one cable for 2 analogue cameras then I will use a separate 2A power supply. What do you advise? Thank you in advance. Forgot to mention, sometimes just unplugging the power supply and re plugging it in resolves the issue. Just don’t understand why this very occasionally occurs? Would the best solution in this instance is to triple the wires for power?
QUESTION: a CAT cable had three pairs of wires. Can I simply use a single ethernet cable and baluns to connect *three individual cameras* ? Or is that silly and won't work due to interference of the signals inside the ethernet cable? Many thanks for the answer.
he gets to the end of showing one end of the cable ... and then what? Nothing, end of video, you now know everything you need. But I don't know anything .... yeah well, it's the internet ya know....
What’s the maximum cable distance you can achieve? I’ve used some “300m rated” baluns and the picture was dropping out and looked awful. Hikvision cameras, cable run roughly 250-300m (not my work!)
Also…..cameras powered locally, this is purely the video on one pair.
@@msw73497349 , we recommend good qulaity 4k 8MP blauns, like the units in this video and good quality CAT6e. Try lowering the camera to 2MP to see if it helps. There are too many variables to diagnose here, try a local installer. 300 metres is a very long distance, we would have used IP cameras and fibre optic cables for. The baluns we use state 400m @ 2MP and 200m @ 8MP.
Maybe the power supply cant supply long range. Try to put high amps power supply
CCTV with two pairs in the balun gives a certain amount of redundancy in case one pair breaks. This is especially relative and important when installs are carried out in this configuration in cold countries.
It is critically important that you DO NOT double up on the pairs going into the baluns. Ehternet cable is UTP cable with specific twists in the cable, having two pairs can cause interference and video loss, especially on longer runs. You must only use one pair, not two.
@@CCTVIreland I totally agree. I did this once on a long run approx 60-70 metres and there was interference when doubling up the video baluns. As soon as I reduced it to single wires the interference went. Thank you
@@CCTVIreland Yes, you are right, only one pair for balun needed
For Video Balun only use 1 pair? But for Power is it OK to use all three remaining pairs? What is minimum amps for 30m run? On utp

Can I use 2 wire only on power supply. I see you you use 4 wires in power supply.
Sure can
What if I make 2 wires each for + and - for video balun?
Yes, but only for the power, not for the video.
@@CCTVIreland oh that's why when i made it 2 wires for the video balun the output looks like has a shadow
@@iamjhie6795 Yes, watch the video to see how to make the connections.
Is this correct way of wiring all surveillance camera??
هل هذه التوصيلة تتعطل مع الوقت
Good work same work in Pakistan
can i use video baluns for a distance of 200m from the camera to the dvr?
Yes, but only for the picture, the power won't go that distance. Use good quality CAT 6 for better results.

Not very tidy, use rj45 connector for cat5 and a video/power value. Terminates neatly, looks professional, and never get earth issues
Thank you for your comment. This video is about video baluns with screw in terminals. They are a lot smaller and more discreet than video baluns that have RJ45 connectors built-in, which are generally a lot bigger and harder to hide. The problem with almost all Video baluns that use RJ45 connectors is that they don't work very well with HIKVision Turbo cameras. We have tried over fifty different types and haven't found one that works properly. So my expert advice to you is not to use video baluns with RJ45 connectors if you are using HIKVision cameras, they don't work properly.
@@CCTVIrelandhow about dahua cameras? Are they ok with rj45 baluns?
Hi, Can you tell me for Hikvision camera how to connect the camera with the CAT5e cables please 🙂
Sorry, that's outside the scope of this video. I suggest you use a certified installer for your camera system if you are unsure.
Can i use two wires each for the video balun?
no, just use one pair only.
Can i use two wires each for the video balun?
thank you sir, How i connect an ip cam to analog dvr in very essay way 😊
You cannot, they are two different technologies. Unless you have a hybrid DVR. It's much too complicated to discuss here and has nothing to do with this video. Maybe you need a professional installer if you don't know the difference.
Hi. CAT 5 cable have 4 pair. i saw you use 2 pair for power connector and only 1 pair for balun connector. Then there is another 1 pair is left not use on that cable. what is the impact if we use 2 pair for power connector and another 2 pair for balun connector. It is possible? Appreciate your feedback on this.
It is important that you only use one pair for the video connections on the balun. CAT5/6 is UTP cable, that's unshielded Twisted-pair. Each pair is twisted with a different pitch to prevent crosstalk. You can use the remaining three pairs for the power, the more you you the less voltage drop over longer runs. But definitely only one pair for the balun for video transmission. Using two poairs will reduce the distance and may cause ghosting on the image.
@@CCTVIreland can I use the spare ones with another camera?
Hi I have a 6 camera setup but last month there was a lot of interference meaning that all channels were scrambled. I bought a new DVR but the problem is still there. I'm using a 8 way power splitter but will only work with one camera at a time. How can I get all 6 working again?
Sounds like you need a ground loop isolator
Hi , first viewer. Can you share your email with me ? Regarding cctv will ask questions! Regards ,
