This audio tape was created by Clayton Cook and with the diesel sounds of Terra Transport mixed 917 westbound to Corner Brook. The sounds are from the locomotive as it makes its 1500 ft. decent from Pond Crossing to Kittys Brook. The photo is from my collection.

Metro Bus Christmas Express 1998
Переглядів 1073 роки тому
There was a float in the 1998 Downtown Christmas Parade in St. John's depicting the "Newfie Bullet". It was done by Metro Bus and it showed the role the railway played in transportation in this province. Credit goes to NTV. I converted it from an old VHF tape to digital format. I wonder what ever happened to this float. They did a great job.

Today in history let’s go
We got hoodwinked trading the railway for a divided TCH from St. John's to Whitbourne. We should have had that anyway as a national standard.
There is a group working on rebuilding the Newfoundland railroad and restoring it to its rightfull glory...even considering a bridge to Labrador ....
Double F40PHs hauling the ex-Nightstar stock. That gets a like!
What's the name of these songs?
Wow, I was there as a kid…..I believe it was a few years before ‘94. They don’t have air shows like that in NL anymore!
At Riverview Motors!
How are the trucks treating the roads eh
The biggest mistake was cancelling the Newfoundland railroad and some think its time to bring it back for the future of the island and its future...imagine the possibilities...the prospects...the ultimate success story ...nothing would be greater for the island and its people...
I just wish that they bring back the railroad on NFL some days.
great video ...Sadly....the narrow track was another disadvantage and cost lots of $$$$$ to switch when freight from the railway cars had to be changed over from North Sydney size track to newfoundlands narrower track... this was just one of the reasons that CN decided it wasnt feasible businesswise...
Would have make a great scenic railroad.
:48 "Da Omni" 😂😂😂 best part! I have a large piece of property in paradise, right along side the trackbed with a switcher to the beginning of the b-line leading up to the Esteel/ McNamara buildings. I miss the trains...and my omni 😂🤣😂
Was it the Mulronney gov't that cut the rail service?
Nice to hear the train...it used to run right in front of our house! My father drove the snowplow on the West Coast
You can see the end had come.
Where was that overpass @ 3:40? I am guessing it no longer exists?
That is just before marble mountain ,the overpass has been taken down
@@thatonetrainguyfrom2576 I remember it as a child driving with my parents. But had forgotten about it until I saw it in the video. Thanks for the info!
awesome. thanks for posting.
Thanks to have posted it.
A flanger car there!
What year is in the video?
1996?

I hope it survived the hurricane
Are the train cars still there?(
No, some went to the dump. some relocated to Bowring Park in St. John's, then to the Railway Coastal Museum in St. John; and some went to Clarenville.
Got'ta love those "arm-strong" turn tables. So smooth if the locomotive is balanced just right. 👍
and now the idiots are letting the train rot away to nothing. a buddy of mine worked on the train site in p.a.b ,and he said he could make money for the place rather then have it lose it. no one cares and p.a.b is taking the train out of it now anyways. if the town workers are to be believed.
I was 8 months old haha
I saw myself😂
Nice. Just add to the tracks and start a commuter train
Too cheerful
Trudeau likes to waste money. Time to rebuild in standard guage.
Wasnt trudeau , it closed under mulroney
0:00 Port aux Basques 0:38 Humber Valley (lower Humber) 0:48 South Brook Park (now South Brook Point) 1:03 Deer Lake (Main Street - The Spud is still there!) 1:30 West of Kitty's Brook (now called Agnus' Washout) 2:13 Holyrood 2:17 Bowring Park (St. John's)
Was this train a mixed train?
Amazing
As a kid growing up in Corner Brook in the 70's we spent many a summers day at South Brook Bowater Park, if we weren't swimming we were climbing over every inch of this loco. I am amazed the wheels were able to roll, I assumed everything was seized solid.
Was that 11 locomotives on the bridge at the same time? Ironically the last train across was also likely the heaviest.
Last call for the St. Johns train.
My sweet Uncle Gerald Vaters! Miss him so much!❤️
My Uncle Gerald Vaters!❤️
Wow. There are some really good action shots in this clip. It's hard to find any footage of this railway in action.
man, NF210 924 has seen some rough days over the past year, spray painted, vandalised, broken up.
this is incredible
Enjoyed the new video today.
After all the money and effort to build it, ripping it up was a terrible short sighted waste.
What kind of bell is on the locomotive at 0:45
What a beautiful mural!
I wonder do trains still run from Truo like this one? Neat to see the mix of new and old cars.
It's always a treat to see footage of trains running in Newfoundland.
Love the video.
>Serves All Canada Yeah. Appropriate thing to have rotting away with our railway...
The railway deserved a better fate. Abandoning it was a very short-sighted decision.
