Stunning Scenery and Adventures along the Hiwassee and Ocoee Rivers in Southeastern Tennessee
This was a Jeep road trip that we did to Southeastern Tennessee to visit the Hiwassee and Ocoee rivers in April of 2024. We brought our e-bikes along in case we found a good place to ride, which we did, at the Rhododendron Trail next to the Ocoee River.

Unforgettable River Kayak Camping Trip in Tennessee: Camping, Fishing, Kayaking, and Relaxation

This kayak camping / fishing trip occurred on April 27th & 28th, 2024. Since the water level is critical to the success of running this section of river, I am withholding the name of the river and it's location in order to keep people safe and avoid them having issues with water level. This river is often not runnable without having to drag your boat for miles, and nobody wants that. When the w...

It is located close to Cades Cove, a par...

Hiking amongst the Boulders of Black Mountain - Incredible Scenery

Black Mountain is located in Cumberland County Tennessee and is a FAA radar site. The long Cumberland trail crosses this mountain and most of Tennessee. The huge boulders located here are fun to explore and climb on. Although several fire rings are shown in this video, there is only one legal campsite here and it is located right beside the Cumberland Trail, 0.25 miles down from the summit.

Lost Creek State Natural Area near Sparta, Tennessee. Lost creek is just as the name implies, lost. It goes into the ground only to appear a short distance away. This same stream can be followed in nearby Dog Cove State Natural Area, al...
Exploring the Tennessee Mountains: Biking, Hiking, and Fishing on Cane Creek

What are you using to communicate with each other on the bikes?
@@rhondareadybishop1639 We both use Sena M1 helmets that have microphones and speakers built into them. They work very well.
@ Thank you!
What’s biking like in Murfreesboro? This trail seems nice
Why music?
All electric "motorized" bicycles should be ban from all bike paths. She's towing a cart with her dog in it that takes up 2/3rds of the bike lane. Maybe we should allow all motorized bicycles like gas motorized bicycles. If you want to ride on a bicycle path buy a bicycle, you might actually get some well needed exercise.
@@tonyblake7318Everything that we did is legal for a class 2 e-bike like ours. If you are going to comment on my channel, please try to be less insulting. It is not necessary to make your point and it just makes you look bad.
Just drove right by Bald River Falls with no mention of it....most all of these roads are accessible by car..
I recorded this is mid April 2024. River road and the Bald River Falls area was closed at that time due to it being washed out from flooding in the Fall of 2023.
Looks like the e-bike, pulling the trailer is a great idea. Wouldn’t that be great to carry a camping kit, tent/tarp, sleeping bag, cooking stuff with food & water…etc.. One could go all over the park maybe? Quietly…
@@papajeff5486 we do exactly what you said, use a bike trailer to camp. We have several videos doing that. Here is an example: ua-cam.com/video/qjYENaqkd4Y/v-deo.htmlsi=cgn0Sgwv1NpyuHHH
Green Cove had a store but it was mainly a shirt store plus they had the station open so you could walk inside and see the museum. Also in Taylors valley there is 2 cafes. I guess it depends on what time of the year you go when it really opens up.
I won't name this area out of respect, but that river holds some awesome musky. Great upload
What a fun bike trip - two cute dogs too
Nice AA2 set ups. What streps do you have on front basket?
@@mhill2510 That is a metal mesh grocery basket mounted on an Aventon front rack. It is attached with zip ties. I assume that you meant my wife’s bike with the dog.
@@Tennessee-Explorer I was wondering what you used to strap the chairs on your bike.
@@mhill2510 oh sorry, I misunderstood. Those are just elastic bungie cords.
That's a very nice way to celebrate your time together. My wife and I have ridden the Creeper. However, a question, U S Forest Service says Ebikes are not permitted on the Virginia Creeper. ???
I am just as confused as you. As you know, e-bikes are everywhere on the trail. The shuttle service stated that they were working on an exception to Forest Service rules specifically for the Creeper. He also stated that it is not enforced there. So I still don’t know what to think. You clearly don’t need an ebike there of course. That is just what we own. The only bikes we own.
@@Tennessee-Explorer Thanks for the response.
@@rechard-jb9cr your welcome
Thanks for making this video. I see now that bicycling is the best way to see Cades Cove.
Nice video! It looks like allot of fun! We will be in Chattanooga at the beginning of August to celebrate our anniversary. We will be bringing our E Bikes and are very interested in the trail system there. We are RV'ers and plan on staying at an RV resort, and exploring from there. Where can we find information about this greenway?
I thought e-bikes weren’t allowed on the Virginia Creeper trail. Did that change?
@@sportkiteflyer the possible issue would be with the National Forest section, which still regulates e-bikes differently than many other agencies and it varies by state. It is all very confusing to everyone. Our shuttle service stated they are reviewing the laws again regarding e-bikes specifically on the Creeper trail. So more to come. They did say that restrictions have never been enforced here. It would hurt their economy badly if they did because there are lots of e-bikes there. I am certainly no expert on this so you need to do your own research. That being said, you don’t need an ebike here since it is downhill unless you ride both directions on the trail. Be safe out there.
Hi! I messaged you before on your bike rack! Now, I was wondering if you could tell me the name of the dog bike trailer (tote) that you all have for your dogs? It looks sturdy! Thanks Again!!
@@ChrisAndersen-fd7yo It is a Burley Tailwagon dog trailer. It has a mesh cover but I usually have it removed since my dog likes that better. I also bought the fat tire upgrade for it since we often pull it off-road and in sand. Nice trailer, one of the best out there. Folds flat for transport too. We are using it at the beach right now.
Thank you again for the information! We really appreciate it. Enjoy the beach !
I'm so excited to see this video of Cades Cove because we've been wanting to go for quite some time now! It was a real pleasure to meet you and your wife and doggies this morning at HBSP. Have a great time!
Beautiful video! Can you tell me what bike rack you have on the front of your ebike? We have Aventon bikes, and we are looking for this type of rack. It looks very sturdy! We are interested in how you attached it to your bike. Thanks!
Thank you. We bought the front racks from Aventon. Attaches with 4 bolts to the existing attachment points already on your bike. Simple. My wife has a metal basket cable tied to her rack in order to haul her dog.
@@Tennessee-Explorer Thank you! We also want to get a basket for our dog! Your videos are awesome! Have a good ride!
Great video. 😊
I ❤ Townsend,Tennessee. The quieter side of town.
Adding this one to the list for sure!
Love this video. We're planning on biking the loop in the fall and appreciate the awesome video so we know what to expect
Thank you so much for your videos. We have the sams bikes and similar interests so your videos have given us more places to explore. Would love more maps to help us see where you're exploring around. Keep up the fantastic work!
Open the layers section of Google Maps mobile app and turn on the bicycle layer. It will highlight most bicycle routes green. You will find more places to ride that you could achieve in a lifetime. Also, if you need advice about an area of TN, just ask. Enjoy and thank you!
@@Tennessee-Explorer thank you so much for that tip!
Music that dosent repeat and repeat! Also, I thought e-Bikes weren't allowed... ? Hope so that they are.
That narrow bridge at 12:50 looked pretty cool!
Yes sir it is. The trailer barely fit. It is the dam for the lake.
I love your bike setup! Can I ask what bike and cart that is? I’d love to get one for myself and dog to ride on the trails! Thanks 💙🐾
We ride Aventon Aventure.2 e-bikes and pull a Burley Tailwagon trailer for the dogs. We also have the excellent Earth-Kin Mule cargo trailer for pulling camping gear and etc. Both trailers are excellent quality, unlike many bike trailers that are too cheaply made. On the Burley, we swapped the tires and wheels out for the Burley fat tire kit since we ride off road and in sand. The Mule trailer comes with fat tires so it would save you a lot of money there and you can pull a dog with it as well. They even have waterproof tops for rain protection.
@@Tennessee-Explorer thanks so much!
I would love to find someone to ride with me! nice video my camera work needs help ❤
Beautiful video!
Thank you very much!
Thanks for posting this video. I have so many questions about the area. Where did you park your vehicle? What did the other riders tell you about the dam as they passed? Are you allowed to ride the bikes on the road? Thanks
This is a loop road around the lake and the top of the mountain. You can park many places, we used the visitor center. The other riders said that cars were parked on the dam, blocking the road. We just waited on them. Not only are bikers allowed but the whole mountain is a mountain biking favorite in the area. Trails are everywhere, top to bottom. Some are black diamond or worse. This is a TVA storage facility, an enormous battery basically. So the water levels change drastically and rapidly.
We shot another video here recently. I hope to post it over the next few weeks. I have 7 different trips to edit right now.
@@Tennessee-Explorer thank you! I finally located a map and it looks like the road around the reservoir is the only place e-bikes are allowed. Can’t wait to check it all out!!!
@@danak9245 the dirt trails are for mountain bikes. I have no idea about e-MTBs there. I don’t ride MTB.
This looks like such an enjoyable experience. I have a trip planned in May to that area. I hope to spend two days on the Creeper and two on the New river trail. I'm really looking forward to both.
They are both wonderful. New River trail is usually very flat compared to the Creeper. I have three videos from the New River trail and I still have not seen it all.
We are returning to the New River Trail next month!
Tina and I did this trail last year. We will probably do it again next week. Great footage. Thanks for sharing.
We love Townsend. I rarely even go to Pigeon Forge or Gatlinburg anymore. The crowds just suck. We stayed in Tellico Plains last weekend and rode the Indian Boundary lake and campground. That was awesome too.
Tina and I have to do this one day. Awesome footage. Love the insta 360.
You are right, you have to do the Creeper trail. Most people don’t camp of course but there is plenty of lodging in Damascus or Abingdon if needed. I highly recommend Whitetop Campground, right off of the trailhead, if you want to use your camper.
LOVE that trail! I wanna be like you guys when I grow up…and actually camp somewhere trailside. 😂 Truthfully, I’ve always been more of a hotel guy … but who knows, maybe I’ll get into the camping thing eventually. Nice video!
The New River Trail also has many campsites along the river. It isn’t far from Damascus. We rode it last year but plan to bikepack it this year. Have you rode that one? 57 mile long park.

Beautiful vid! Thank you!
You have the BEST ebike in the business. Upgrade your rotors and pads, and the sound will go away. You can thank me later.
I like the video
"E bikes" are motorized vehicles..... They are NOT ALLOWED.
Sorry but you are mistaken. You can even rent e-bikes from the Park service right there in Cades Cove. We did not rent though. Park volunteers are often seen using them there as well. Class 2 e-bikes like ours, with 750 watt motors, are not considered to be motorized vehicles in the US.
Signs are clear "motorized vehicles prohibited". Y'all can't have it both ways ..... Either the area is open to.the public (all the public) or its not!
@@mike-vq7mc correct, no motorized vehicles are allowed there then or on any bike trails. Class 2 e-bikes are not considered motorized vehicles by US law. That was my point. Have a great day.
