Tam Lyn is one of my favorite tunes, because it's got this cross-picking type vibe. It's an old Celtic tune, if I recall correctly. The camera hiccuped a couple times, then ran out of battery and overheated. I have sped up the parts I had put in normal time, because the inside of tunnels are not that interesting - other than Eisenhower tunnel being super long, at about 11k altitude, and crosses the continental divide.

I recorded this on a sunday morning, going up to Estes for Snowygrass - about two weeks before the Alexander Mountain Fire broke out. As of what I know now, the fire hasn't gotten down into this canyon, but as of a couple hours ago it hadn't burned down into this canyon... yet. Hwy 119 just south of Pearl st, through Nederland to Rollinsville. Gained about 3,000ft in altitude. I tried to catch the Boulder Falls, but was way too busy trying to keep an eye on all the idjits on the side of the road. I’m leaving it in because the random clip of me singing along to a chorus of Stormy Horizons cracks me up.

I was *supposed* to be working on You Can Call Me Al... but in noodling around I was reminded of this old tune I used to love playing along with. Ragdoll, from Sonia Dada's Test Pattern album. The shine on that bass though!! If the purfling on my '66 wasn't chewed up I'd probably give it a go. Great channel btw - love your transcription videos!
Thanks! I'm actually in the process of polishing out my '56 after I refinished it. Part of the trick is to repair the chewed out parts of the edges with wood or wood putty and then try to color match. I've got some more time now, so I hope to do more transcription videos over the fall/winter.

I just found this comment... one of these days I'll figure out how to work UA-cam on the channel side (where's my facepalm emoji when I need it?). It's on my to-do list to transcribe the little filler solos you do on the live versions to fill while the guitar and banjo move their capos... I don't know if it's easy to catch in this video but I put "(sneaky key changes are sneaky)" over the first one. I was about 8-12mm in after the first change and that section was driving me nuts until I went and got my bass. I had been judging the intervals off the old tone center. Normally key changes are pretty obvious but y'all do a good job of camouflaging them here. And happy B-day!

The year I was there, I remember this room being deafening.
It was pretty darned loud. I struggled to hear to test some Blue Chips on my guitar. And this is when it’s just limited to conference goers. I imagine it’ll be pure bedlam tomorrow and Saturday.
