AMAZING BEAUTIFUL 😍😍

Good content It is a shame! It is hard to hear your voice over the music
Don’t look at free diving it as something that you have to pass, treat it as an experience and enjoy every moment of it. Though, I haven’t been free diving but have talked to some diving instructors over the years and the key is to enjoy, don’t overthink. 😅 You cannot fail at something that you do as a recreation. 😊 Also, the diving community are one of the cool and most relax people I know of.. unlike in the corporate world, where some are very toxic individuals. 😂 Someone once said to me in my job once, “You weren’t supposed to be here!” I just looked at her, with a blank expression on my face and a wry smile. Thinking to myself, so you just need me to sign the job offer and then submit my requirements?! Because that’s what the specific instructions were, to send my signed job offer and other clearances! Lol! Some people who had something to do with it were people from my first job in manila! 🥴😏 Plan uncovered! What am I a ghost employee then? So who’ll be receiving my salary if I wasn’t supposed to be here?! Lol! You cannot believe how people can be so GREEDY and VILE in the corporate world. But, their karma will be coming for them. Whatever they took that weren’t theirs, they’ll loose 10x of it, including interest. If there’s anything I am thankful for is that I am out of their reach. Those people are scum! I know that they’ve been tracking me through my phone throughout these years! Real scumbags! I now know who those people are!
I wish I had that nose clip in 9th grade swim class

Damn Rachel! That was my childhood right there. Though before I was into diving. And I never got to find that clear of water. I hope you get some swim time with some manatees!
Oh my, Florida has so many amazing spots with clear water! I hope you get to go back!
@@thesailingsiren i back perodically. When I was very young my parents took me to some central Florida springs where we rode in glass bottom boats. That's when I fell in love with seeing the world under the water.

which airline doesn’t care that you just carry your fins like that 😭
I actually have them strapped to my pack as I board the plane. I use the quick release buckles on my pack, load my backpack into the overhead compartment, and put my fins along the wall when I sit down. Hope this helps!
I like to dive with a nose clip. Much more relaxing to not use my hand and it prevents overpressure as it doesn't lock the nose 100%. I would also recommend Frenzel instead of blowing into your nose.
Hi @dariusoutdoors, thanks for the comment. Just an update, this video was created several years ago. I've successfully become an instructor and am now dabbling in competitions. :) It's crazy looking back on this video and seeing how much I've grown as a freediver! Hopefully it inspires others to keep at it when they have equalization issues or other road blocks in their freediving journey.
@@thesailingsiren Great to hear! Would definitely enjoy some more content on here ;P For those non insta folks!
try ramming your fingers behind your ear when it starts getting tight. an old school diver did it to me once and never had an issue since. 100+ dives
Hi Will, thanks for the info! This video was at the beginning of my freediving journey, and I'm thankful to say that I've made a lot of progress since then! I'm now a freediving instructor and competing in the CMAS World Championships for Team USA. I'm definitely not one of the deepest divers, but a 50 meter dive is super comfortable now! I hope the update is inspiring for others who think that freediving isn't for them because they're encountering an obstacle in freediving. Practice, mentorship, and patience is key. :)
Saw you on American Ninja Warrior tonight (repeat) missed it earlier in the week ! But saw you and it looked like you had fun so I googled you and found out you have a UA-cam channel. You are quite an interesting personality ? You went to what ? 8 yrs of Pharmacy School to become a Mermaid ? / Freediver / Instructor / Fire Performer ? And now N.W.I. T. Watched what UA-cam videos I could find and they are all quite good. Why did stop doing videos a few yrs ago ? I guess you already had too much shit on your platter ? I gave a 👍 and subscribed and hope you pick the camera again ! You are entertaining, gorgeous and fun to watch. Look forward to a notification. ✌️💙🎵 From STL MO
Hi Dave, thanks for the message! I am sitting on mountains of content haha! I took a temporary break from content creation when the pandemic hit to be a full time pharmacist when I was needed. Now that things are going back to normal, I'm back to freediving, performing, teaching freediving, and doing pharmacy (very part time). I'm currently training for the CMAS Freediving World Championships and hope to post more freediving and travel content when I'm done with the competition. :)
Why train to level of freediving instructor not done more than 10m simple equalization? To be blunt this can be learned without paying any instructor but the instruction divrcenter industry sell the idea that you will make career in making money on teaching freediving. Hell there is few basic bicycle training centers..... Should be the same in freediving. I thing different physiology and ear canals and ability to click eartubes open or use toung plate to equalize is just not training and knowing those muscles control. I equalize ears withoutmoving jaw and no pinching of nose. This is maybe what should be taught and coached not found out reaching 4 to 6 meters.
Hi and thank you for your comment! I understand what you are saying, but several years later I'm very thankful for the decision to take the course. Since the filming of this vlog several years ago, I've worked underwater stunts in a major motion picture, become a commentator and athlete in freediving competitions, and all of the issues I had when I was first starting out, I am now able to help my own students through as an instructor. :)
so...what does a freediving course give you qualification for... sure I can just go out to the sea and start freediving myself, whats the point in this certificate?
Hey and thanks for the question! As someone who has taken a course and moved into the more professional side of freediving, I'm always going to advocate for the safety aspects of learning so other people can continue to enjoy the sport. When you hear of a freediving accident or death on mainstream media, a deeper look will often reveal that the person was diving alone, didn't have the proper training, and didn't have proper safety protocols in place. When you are just getting into the sport, you don't know what you don't know and can miss blind spots in a DIY freediving education. Freediving courses aren't just about holding your breath longer and diving deeper. They help you become a well rounded freediver and a competent safety for your dive buddies. Hope this answers your question!
do they not stop you?
One person stopped me, but I explained that I store them under my seat and that they don't take up overhead cabin space. They let me go. :)
Can you do this with a full wetsuit??
You definitely could, but I didn't want to be warmer than I had to! If I was doing a longer trip and needed to take more changes of clothes I would wear the top as well. :)
How beautiful
How butful mermaid ru 😅
the other side of Hoover Dam can be pretty darn wonderful
Haha yeah, I agree. Although it's nice to have!
Light is over rated
I now have issues clearing (especially my left ear) from years of scuba diving and surfing in 50-65 degree water. I have been to a ear doctor and was told I have boney growth “surfer’s ear”. Sometimes I can’t go under more then 20 feet when it won’t clear.
Oooh, that’s rough. Sorry to hear that. I have a doctor friend who went through photos of tympanic membranes, what looks normal, what doesn’t, etc. do you have any hearing loss if you don’t mind me asking? I’m all about preventing injury as I progress!
Have you seen pictures of your tympanic membrane?
you created incredible travel-take care~;)
Thanks! Glad you liked it. :)
She's a sorcerer or witch that's why she's putting up those hand symbols
Hahaha I’m a freediving instructor and a scuba diver. That’s how you demonstrate to your dive buddy that you’re ok during or after your dive. Diving is full of hand signals as you can’t talk underwater!
Don't concentrate too much on how long you can hold your breath, but focus on how much you enjoy being under the water. And soon you will find out spending 5 minutes under the water is easy as you think.
Hi Albert, thanks for the kind words. I've been an instructor for a few years now and freediving has become a huge part of my life! This is the video that I use to motivate people to not give up on freediving if they are worried about "failing" a freediving course. Appreciate you interacting with my content!
Beautiful 💖😊
Thank you!
Thanks for creating and sharing this Rachel! It's a huge help.
Absolutely Deon! Hope it helps! Are you having problems with EQ right now?
You'll do good on the show😀
Thanks for the kind words!
Good job👍
Def never seen that before.
Lol yeah. For science. Tried to see how many obstacles I could do in a mermaid tail without help. Turns out not very many lol
@@thesailingsiren they need to have underwater American Ninja Warrior
Go Racheal, GO!!!
Love your videos! I just saw your channel and you seem very professional! I wish your channel will get more attention that it deserves :3
Aww thank you! Yeah I'm reactivating this channel from when I was super active awhile ago. Definitely loved the online community when I was sharing my freediving journey from the beginning. :)
@@thesailingsiren OMG you are welcome! thank you for responding and I hope to see more videos of your amazing works! :D
You are awesome!! I’m loving watching your updates. Keep it up and Goodluck!!
Aww thanks Liza! Miss you lovely lady! <3
Keep up the awesome work!! Thanks for sharing your journey with us.
Absolutely! Thanks so much for checking in. :)
Alright! So week two of training for American Ninja Warrior is down, and huge thanks to everyone who trained with me this week. It has been fun exploring new communities in Vegas while getting in shape to compete. So what do you think? Would you compete if you had the opportunity? Are you a former competitor and what was your experience like? So excited to keep sharing this fun journey with you all. See you next week!
Great video and good job on your first week of ninja warrior training! Stay strong, keep going! 💪🏾
Thanks coach! Fingers crossed that you get a call, and see you in a few weeks!
Did your hood have ear holes to release pressure?
Hey hey! Good question. I was diving in tropical water when I took my level 1, so we weren't diving with hoods. Just an update, this video is several years old! I was fortunate to make it through a lot of the beginner freediver challenges, and I'm now an instructor that often teaches and trains in colder water. I teach students to flood their hood as part of the pre-dive protocol if they decide not to put a hole in their hoods. :)
Very cool! Love the video and very entertaining!
Aww thanks my friend! I saw your comment on FB...and definitely get back into vlogging! I love seeing the videos you post. :)
I’m so excited for you!! I’ll be cheering for you all along the way. You will absolutely be a crowd favorite. Have a blast babe!!
Aww thanks love! We'll see how it goes. :) Miss you and love seeing the performance content you post!
Yeah! Represent the water tribe...
So glad you didn't poop yourself. Let's train!
This makes me SO happy! Keep these coming so I can tag along for the journey. <3
I'm so glad you were part of the journey! Here's to many more Erin! <3
😍😍 lovely
Thanks for watching!
Okay, so my goal for the next two months is to level up on upper body strength while still staying in shape for freediving! I'd love to connect with other freedivers and ninjas! Feel free to drop a comment about your training routine. Always up for exploring new ways to improve!
Awesome !
It's just a begining, next time, you will make it.
Way to go Rachel!!!! This is so awesome!!
Thank you! It has been a dream come true to be a part of this, and I'm thankful for the opportunity. There's so much more to learn! Hope this news clip is able to help bring awareness to the safety aspects of learning how to freedive. Hope you enjoyed the movie if you saw it!
