Enjoy listening to you have a pleasant voice tone
This doctors seems to be just parroting what he memorized in school. I guess I'm spoiled by listening to the scholars and doctors on these mental and personality disorders. People like Otto Kernberg, Frank Yeomans, Kolk, Gunderson, etc., as well as all the experts they quote and refer to. Also, the excellent, informative videos from Sam Vaknin...(sp?). Sidenote: that woman constantly coughing should leave the room. The commenters are easily impressed with the title of "doctor". The doctor keeps referring to his women patients as "girls"....ugh! He seems totaling alienated from his patients. Seems like he is just trying to get his presentation over with.
This guy has a big stick up his ass and I would not go to him as a client or take my child to him and if you paid me triple bucks! So bad when you hear his presentation on Borderline Personality Disorder, at another place and time, & you would hear how dismissive he is of his (female) clients/patients. Best wishes to everyone!
I have to say this is better than the strange almost misinterpreted views of ahdh that are often presented. The totall misinterpretation based on stereotypes usw. this is better its definitly and upgrade a lvl up good job. Russel Barkley is one of the best sources by the way. And remember there might be a 2. Attention Disorder proven soon (work since 20 years S.C.T. (a big % of the innatentive adhd people but it can preliminary be comorbid with adhd)
I would listen to him all day. Would be great if there was more letures from him.

Your excellent lecturer, clear, concise and structured.Relaticely easy to follow despite complex substance.Too bad some of my former lecturers didn't have your brilliant communication and presentation skills.
Thank you, dear doctor for this and the schizophrenia lecture! You solved a 3 year hellish riddle for me, THANK YOU! UA-cams so full of patients that make funny videos showing how easy it is to live with mental issues but Ive seen what its really like and its e x a c t l y as he says wherr a l l aspects of life are effected from work to relationships. But in our pc society we arent allowed to talk about that anymore. So thank you, Dear doctor.
I only watch videos by doctors or academics now, a lot of the individuals making a brand out of their illness are fakers

Completely unscientific. Making it up as you go along....or at least that's what the people who wrote the DSM did.

Narcissists are always on the hunt for something they are never going to find. They pretend to be someone else to ensnare the victim with deception, lies, pretending to feel one way, when they feel the complete opposite. A Narcissist should not be trusted and are often toxic with an excessive need for admiration, disregard for others feelings, an inability to handle any criticism and a sense of entitlement. I used to think that love could cure anything but it only fed my narc's enormous ego. It is important to be wise when dealing with a narcissist and I’m glad that cyberhackinggenius helped cloned my husband’s phone. I got access to all his dealings both on phone and social media without touching his phone. All I did was share his phone number with Cyberhackinggenius and I was able to read both his new and deleted messages from my phone through a remote link to a programmed App containing cloned cell information. My husband was a cheating Narcissist and I’m glad to find out all his secrets and infidelity with the help of cyberhackinggenius. I’m finally going through divorce with lots of evidence against him. I read all his deleted and recent chats on Whatsapp,Facebook,Wechat,Viber,Linkdn,Skype,Twitter and Instagram. You can contact this great hacker “Gavin” through his email cyberhackinggenius@gmail. com and WhatsApp: +19256795146 and I believe I’m saving a soul with this message just as I was saved..

Hate this guy. He is so derogatory to sufferers.
loved this series ! very educative !
I fell asleep while listening to something else on UA-cam and woke up to #5 in this series. If I hadn’t, I might not ever have known the association between Bipolar, Borderline & Personality Disorder. I’ve been thinking that I was misdiagnosed with BPD and I’ve been “favoring” Bipolar as a diagnosis. In fact I have Bipolar, BPD and ALSO have PTSD. When the professor mentioned all three in one sentence I felt like I’d been hit by lightning. No wonder I’ve struggled all my life. Thank God for this series! Thank you, Professor.
I have Bipolar, BPD and PTSD. I knew about PTSD but I had discounted BPD in “favor” of Bipolar (probably 1). Now I know I have a very complex series of dangerous diagnoses. At 67 yrs old I’m actually lucky to be alive and relatively functional. I’m still piecing it all together.
Absolutely, this guy nails it.Oh to live in Canada with access to good mental healthcare.

This man is extremely unpredictable. Can u imagine the mental health state of the homeless? No hope. No retribution. Serious topic.
This lecture series is extremely interesting. I'm doing my master's in mental health nursing at present, and Dr Costigan's presentations are a great adjunct to my coursework. Thanks!
The almighty psilocybin mushroom is the real miracle treatment. Not the bandaid treatments that are used now.
@Wally BingBang The high dose under the supervision and recommendation of a therapist can be much more effective
Dr Costigan, bipolar is VERY often misdiagnosed Complex PTSD. Many psychiatrists simply lack the diagnostic ability or knowledge. Many people have been polydrugged and misdiagnosed. PS- the "chemical imbalance" is a myth created by pharmacy, to sell multiple prescriptions to each person. There's zero proof of chemical imbalances.
@ Bless you. I'm glad you got out of the prescription and misdiagnosis trap. Same thing happened to myself. We need to wake others up.
My "adult ADHD" was caused by psychiatric drugs. Once off the drugs, this nonsense ADHD diagosis has disappeared. Adult ADHD is often misdiagnosed CPTSD. I noticed you've declined to do a video on that. Canada is still sleeping.
loved this series ! very educative !
Dr's are killing us with benzos and benzo withdrawal. Psychiatrists are diagnosing life circumstances and disorders. We're not lacking understanding with what psychiatrists are doing. There is zero proof of the 'chemical imbalance' myth. Tell the truth. The DSM has been written by pharmacy to apply drugs to anyone who walks through the door of a psychiatrist.
I am so pissed off. My doctor put me on effexor about a year and a half ago and I've gained a ton of weight, over 40 pounds. Ive also had headaches and insomnia and depressive episodes. I am so glad I watched this.
Background coughing is annoying and distracting. That lady should have the common decency to leave the room. That said, this guy's a fine lecturer. Informative video.
Doesn't even sound like they are covering their mouth either. Not cool. Had a hard tine focusing too. He IS a good lecturer
My experience too, GIRLS !
Ridiculous... if youre 30 and been depressed 3 times you should take anit-depressants? lol - Depression is a result of bad things happening.. it would be weird to NOT be sad, thats some psycho shit. Such a nonsense way of thinking and justifying and placing blame on a disease than just a part of life. Anyone who is 'clinically' depressed is so because they've been told its ok to feel that way and that depression is a disease and thus have accepted that as THEIR WAY.
Wut
??as a junior doctor specialising in psychiatry myself, that’s not at all how depression, the mental disorder, works. low mood is normal if there is a cause, though, but depression is not just low mood.
I’ve been depressed for 6 years, I havn’t gotten any help because I always think I can handle things on my own. It has developed in to something I cannot express to a person who havn’t been depressed, it’s not just sadness. Maybe it all started because of a few turns in life, but now I should be fine if that would be the answer, because I have nothing to be sad about anymore, but I have a hard time to try to like my life and understand the meaning even tho I have big plans for the future.
I definetly have NOT accepted that I am depressed, I never have. I’d be dead a long time ago if I would have. You seem really uneducated in this
@@johannalindstrom6262 to accept that you are depressed doesn't mean not learning to cope with it. It just means you're aware and thus able to recognize when your body and mind are off balance. Accepting a situation allows you to work around it and it def. Doesnt mean you "beat it".
Eft emotional freedom tech , another good treatment for ptsd ext tapping is used mainly it does work i've used it you still have the memory but the emotion gone from it so dosen't cause anxiety any more
ativan was the best for me with panic attacks
