AUTO ART - Peter GT3
Ok, I am a bit behind on content, there are a lot of timelines and projects going on, but this happened this week. This is one of many Porsche based Auto Art we created in Adelaide this week. This is Peter, absolute legend, came out on a cold wet week night to work on this project.
Way more to come on this project, but here is a teaser.

SMITH MAKES STUFF Ball of Light Tool NO.1 Refurbishment
Переглядів 502Місяць тому
This amazing tool has been sitting on my shelf for 10 years waiting for some love. In this video I refurbish my first Ball of Light Tool alongside my first ever light painting tool, and take them for a play on the beach. So much fun! I refer to the Light Junkies page on Flickr, you will get lost, but come away inspired by the complete insanity that happened back there in 2008/9 I promise - here...

I took the Hobolite Iris out for some actual intentional light painting. This idea of trying things out is not for some in-depth technical analysis. I reckon just taking them out and ,making work is better that that thing. Behind The Shot - Lotte in the Forest
Переглядів 3444 місяці тому
Popped out to the forest with my mate Lotte this week. I noticed this stand of trees on a previous visit, and they stuck in my memory. It was super dark, so a bit of fill light is added. I was lucky enough to have Lotte sit for me. And she sat super still. This is a single exposure image. These blend videos are not perfect, but I love you being able to see the process. I have broken this one up...
SALT - FIRE - LIGHT
Переглядів 5954 місяці тому
Ollie, Lotte and I headed to the salt for the first night of the astro season. It was warm, calm, and clear. The salt was pretty soft, I managed one, kind of, Ball of Light before realising I was just going to sink every time. So filmed a bit of these two and broke out some fire. We also made some portraits, crazy hard at iso 1600 but fun for sure. For more magic, visit my website - www.denissm...

MY FAVOURITE BALL OF LIGHT IMAGE - EVER
Переглядів 8255 місяців тому
All of my personal light painting this year is about the Ball of Light. Join me on the first trip away where I ended up making my favourite Ball of Light image ever. Why is it so good? Well it has very little to do with the actual final image. The trip, the company and process had everything to do with it. And it isn't perfect! Thank you Rob for the amazing company. Proof that good friendships ...

The two Jasons and Johnny Griffin are like the mad scientists of lightpainting, legends!
Hi Tim. Hope you’re well mate. They are good boys. That’s for bloody sure.
Beautiful inspiration. That reminds me of the time with my friends 2012 when we had fun with sparklers and camera. Now I find there is a name for it. 😂 Thank you 🙏🏼 Peace 🕊️ with love from Italy 💞
@SCHOOLOFLIGHT You teach the photos bur how to do videos like this? 😮
Hi mate. There is a link in the description to the software we share here.
@@SCHOOLOFLIGHT Thank you Denis! I love your enthusiasm and that you are willing to share it with everyone! Love from Portugal Take care
Wow! I just played with live comp for the first time at our fireworks show. So fun! Now I want to experiment with live time too!
I’m stoked you enjoyed it. I was actually out last night using live comp for an epic shot and it was wild.
Once again, very inspirational Denis; a huge thank you.... am going onto Weymouth beach at midnight tonight to try it out.
My pleasure mate. I had such a beautiful time putting this together. 🙏 enjoy the beach.
Very interesting. Great shooting! 👍 📷
Many thanks Denis, I am learning so much from you; it is greatly appreciated. Stuart, Weymouth, UK
Hi Stuart. I’m so pleased your are enjoying the bits I’m managing to get finished and up. Have a great weekend. Peace.
God dam mate being a dip shit is fine and we have all been there (some of us are still there) but by the gods you look like your a happy one, and it's Conagious! keep making these they are Awesome, from a Dip Shit Pom, hehe
Haha. Thanks mate. Look self deprecating behaviour can be odd at times. But I just want people to know that you can be uneducated, have mental health challenges, numbers look like spaghetti, and still manage to have a go. More fun coming.
Excellent video - the passion for the first tennis ball is obvious.
Thanks Paul, if you’d suggested 20 years ago that I’d be attached to a cut in half tennis ball bought at the $2 store, I’d piss myself. Glad you enjoyed it mate.
Denis, you are not a dipshit, you are a self taught nerd who loves coloured lights! Great video!
Haha. Thanks mate. Look, the point I’m making, and I look forward to sharing this story soon, is that I left school super early and always struggled to learn. So I want to try and encourage others who struggle to learn stuff to have a go. I had a clinical diagnosis for adhd last year. It made me realise so many things.
This is so good SMITH. Really enjoyed watching this one..And I can also see and feel you had a ball with this. Well done.
Thanks heaps mate. I’m having a lot of fun.
I've recently stepped into the amazing world of Light Painting. Thanks to your no nonsense tutorials on basic light pens, I've started making my own tools! I'm still sh*t at soldering but it works with enough hot glue and wooshing noises ahah! I've always loved your first ball of light and would love to learn how to make my own!
Hi mate. We are going to making some orb tools shortly. Thanks for coming by.
@@SCHOOLOFLIGHT can't wait! And also can't wait to see your work in Scotland. That's where I am. In fact, that's how I first found you because I'm staying just outside Largs in Scotland and saw one of your video with "Largs South" in the title. Didn't realise there was another Largs so far away from me!
Did you know you have 2 playlists for light painting tools? Shouldn't they all be in 1.
Thanks mate. It’s all a bit of a mess. Thanks for dropping by mate
Nice job
Thank you mate.
Some pretty cool shots of shoes! Those scanners look really interesting to me, any further info would be much appreciated!
Thanks mate. Happy to share any info you would like.
Hi Denis, The small scanner looks like a really good way of restricting the light for smaller details. I am lousy at DIY, can you buy them any where? Thanks.
@@timwootton4649hi Tim. Yeah the different size scanners are great for exactly that. Frodo (google DKL scanner pro) is making and selling a scanner that you can snoot down to this size. I hope that helps.
I think the red/blue 🥾 is really striking. That’s a pretty evil laugh BTW Smith 😂
Thanks Di.
Really great results Den 🎉
Thank you🙏
Just ordered mine after watching your two videos on it. Great job! I love how enthusiastic you are about your art/craft❤
Thank you, I’m having a lot of fun at the moment.
Images are nice, I almost prefer the one with just moonlight. Others are cool with the hobo also.
Thanks mate. The amazing thing about these locations is the moonlight is such a stunning way to light the scene, and bring out texture. Thanks for popping by! Peace.
Great video Dennis and as always your photo’s deserve that OBE 🤗🎖️
Thank you mate. This always makes me feel amazing!
Nice one, what I always take from your videos is the enthusiasm you have for doing lightpainting just awesome dont loose that even if you stop making vids. Thank you.
Thank you Paul! I am having so much fun!
Very interesting video and yes, you were VERY lucky that you didn’t hurt yourself, Smith. I hate climbing over rocks during the day let alone at night. Really love the capture with the moon rising, reflecting on the water and your BOL.
Thanks Di. I am always so careful. What’s scary about this fall was how easily that rock broke. A super good reminder. How beautiful was the moooooooon.
Yes the moon was absolutely glorious 🌝
i know you don't care... because you said so... but for what it's worth, I love your image! And I love how every image has a story that goes with it, Something to aspire to!
I’m so happy you enjoyed it. 🙏
Such a great tutorial! I had a go and made some nice glowing balls of string lol but I'm slowly getting them detangled... the main problem I had was because I was doing it alone, I used an intervalometer so I could take longer than 30 second exposures but I had trouble knowing when the shutter was open or not... next time I'll just set a 10 second delay and run back and forth to the camera!
That sounds like……fun. I would highly recommend investing in a remote. They are super affordable now. Most of them have a beeper that tells you when the exposure is finished. Really handy. I’m glad you found the tutorial handy.
What a cool thing to do, nice to see people from 'Down Under' being recognised for their skills & talent! Good on ya! Denis, I am intrigued by the 'scanner' that you use to light the car and people, can you give me some info on that? Thanks.
Thanks Tim. The scanner is a device I build to satisfy the desire to light everything by hand. The original idea came from the mind of the great Pala Teth. I used to make and sell them. I’ll be doing a video soon on how to build one.
Great product breakdown! Looks like a neat little setup
Thanks mate.
Hi Dennis what a great video thanks for sharing your great adventure. Love your work, your such a talented young man 🤗🎖️
You are very kind. I’m so happy you enjoyed it.
Was there anything you should have taken on the trip, but didn't?
Hi Chris (side note, my fathers name is Chris Smith), amazing question and something I’m covering in an upcoming video. Yes. I wish I’d taken a 24-70f2.8 as the only video lens. Ooh, you have me thinking now……..That’s about it really. Everything else was pretty on point.
I think you'd be a hilarious full time tech reviewer if you maintained the honesty. There's too much brand bum licking on UA-cam.
Watch this space mate.
That looks really good - good power from a small unit.
Awesome shots
Thank you.
Dennis, you're one very lucky man.. Thank you for sharing. Peace.
Mate there were moments where I certainly did feel a bit lucky🙏
What an amazing project and so many beautiful, creative photos. Yet another extension of your talent Denis!
Thanks Rachel🙏 it was a massive amount of fun.
What a great experience and thank you for sharing it with us.
Hi David. My pleasure mate. It was a buzz!
Ahhhhhh so glad to be finally watching this video. Wonderful work Denis!!
Thanks so much mate. This project literally would not be part of my life without you. I am so grateful. Immensely. 🙏
Getting some Polynesian 'firedancers' in front of your camera would look pretty cool!
Now here’s an interesting fact. I grew up in the in a huge pacific island community, my school was predominantly Samoan and Tongan guys. I remember fire at some events and thought about them when making these images. Cool aye.
Hey man! If you are still here lmk! I am from New Delhi and would love to show you around!
Denis, I absolutely love these and have been wanting to buy one for a long time, but they’ve been sold out. If you’re not producing them anymore, is there any chance you might be kind enough to give us a little tutorial or parts list on how to make them ourselves?
Hi Mate. I’ve just got back from India and will be restocking soon. Make sure you are on the mailing list and you will be notified as soon as they are up. 🙏
Oh, great to hear! I’ll sign up for that list!
Come to ladakh mate 😂
Google’s Ladakh
Oh my gosh! Yes please.
Brilliant!!!
Thank you.
Looking forward to hearing all about your backpacking adventure next time we meet 🤩📸👍
Hi Di. Can’t wait to share.
Talk about traveling light for two weeks... stay safe can't wait to see the photos.
Thanks mate. We will see how light my shoulders think it was. Can’t wait to share the results.
@7:35 not me trying to figure out why I can no longer hear the video and Siri asking me how she can help...
Classic. It was hilarious me editing the video. Same thing was happening.
Totally awesome so looking forward to seeing the results 👍🤗🙏🏻🎖️
Thanks mate. It’s going to be a special one I hope.
Looks amazing. Looking forward to seeing your images. Safe travels.
Thank you. It will be a fun for sure.
Cant wait to see the images, stay safe and have fun
Thanks Paul.
How special is that? So cool Lotte ✨❤✨
Thank Di. I love making these images.
Awesome as usual mate.. question I have never tried but .... once you have her lit up do you still have to have her stay sitting there while you spin the ball of light?
Hi mate. In this instance because she is so far away and it was pitch black she could have literally walked away and it not matter at all. Only of light was falling on the area behind her would it have mattered. Glad you liked this Lawrence. 🙏
@@SCHOOLOFLIGHT thank you sir for the response. Always good to know incase I wanna try something out. Thank you for sharing your work.
Wow what a beautiful photo 🤗👍🎖️
Thank you Stuart. If all I did was make Light Painting Portraits, I would be a happy boy!
Really interested to see what you do with the ESP development board. Would love to try it but don't know where to start.
Hi mate. Yes. That thing. I always get so excited when someone says, “dude, it’s so simple, anyone could do it”, and you look at them and buy it because you don’t want to admit there is a potato in your pantry that is smarter than you. So I might need to get the potato to help me out🤓
