Pike and Shotte English Civil War Battle Report 1 Part 2
Lovely work. My Victrix Bavarians are glaring at me unassembled…
Lovely work
I am a bit late but as I am into doing some Napo stuff at the moment, it makes sense to be late. :) Thanks for the brilliant video, I do like the miniatures and the table and all of your comments. Due to a multitude of BP videos I have watched so far, I am not sure whether I like BP or not...leaning more towards the not liking it....which doesn't mean that I don't like your videos (going to watch them all!): Have you ever thought about switching to another rules set? And thanks for showing that one can also play smaller battles, that is very encouraging!
The constant tape measure noise OMG
Enjoyed the game and the commentary explanation, well done.
I’m just finishing off my ACW Paper Armies (Peter Dennis). As soon as you finish an army, someone comes out with something new/better!
cool!
Am I seeing things, or is the new Hannibal stuff larger than the ACW?
Good for you! For me, 28mm is only for small skirmishes of 5 to 10 miniatures per side, above that, I prefer smaller scales.
Hi, Recently subscribed, I have now watched and thoroughly enjoyed your historical batreps. Really underlines (aware this has been mentioned before) the suitability of Pike & Shotte/Black Powder rules for the smaller games. Sincerely hope you will be doing more, and your miniatures look fantastic! Well done & Many Thanks!!👍
thanks very much I appreciate that. it is a very versatile system. I'm off on tour at the moment, but have plans for when I return!
Awesome
It's really cool.
Lovely work, and already you should be proud of how many you've done so far. They look fantastic. Regards, Steve
G'day to you ! Well done, look good ,I am now 74 and have have been painting ACW plastics on and off for last 15 years or so,I have several regiments of Zouaves ,North and South plus all troops in between, including a Regimental Band, made by a Russian Company who also did a special 2 box set of all the North and South Generals, which came out quite well, have not done any painting for the last year or so cause I had a stroke! Perth West Aust.
I love painting smaller scales. I have a 6mm Alexandrian army that was a lot of fun to paint
Beautiful
Outstanding workmanship 😍😍
Their looking good. Only the painter knows what could have been possible. 😉 I find painting the ACW epics easier than the P&S. 🙂
Great video. I’ve been wanting to get into ACW epic. Thanks for sharing.
thanks for the comment!
I find hopping between scales and tabletop projects helps me stay engaged and stave off burnout, too. Think your ACW figures look great!
Outstanding work, they look superb!!
@@philRminiatures thanks mate
Very cool. I started wargaming with the american civil war and airfix 1/72 scale infantry, cavalry and artillery. We used the french foreign legion airfix models for zouaves. That’s what we had, but it was 50 years ago. Keep us posted on your armies updates 👍🏻
@@paulofreire7520 thank you, will do! Working on some cavalry bith mounted and dismounted now
Great work! Your Confederates look ready to take the field. I've been working my way through the original starter set and its time consuming indeed. But when you group all the units on the table they look amazing! Keep us posted.
@@d.r.4453 thanks mate!
I’ve done both the ACW and napoleonic. I’m just starting to do the Hannibal battle set. I have a friend that is doing the ECW and loves them. What’s also nice about the epic is that you can use them in other table games as the playing pieces.
@@dougcarmichael8782 I have my eye on the hannibal set. Hope you enjoy it!
Great work, and look great on the table top 👍👍
@@Roll-Some-Dice thanks mate. Your bat reps have been a great inspiration
@@tinsoldierwargaming7698 cheers dude, nice of you to say 👍🏻
I think they all present brilliantly at that scale. I feel like I need some historic wargaming in my life.
@@grimdm thank you. The scale certainly adds to the mass effect
With the flags you'd normally want to go with one battle flag of the northern army of virginia and then one state flag or one national flag and one state flag, also one trick I used is that you can cut the man not attached to the artillery off and move him around the base wherever you'd like adding a bit of variation to your artillery models
@@crupt7301 thanks for the tip!!
They look very nice, it's funny you are burnt out with 28mm and find the epic scale rewarding, I paint 6mm and the odd 10mm and never looked back. For what we look to achieve on the gaming table the smaller scale models allow us to paly all the massive battles of history and in a day. The sheer cost of the 28mm stuff and just how long it takes to paint up and look decent is enough to put me off but to play something like Gettysburg in 28mm would required a 30 ft wide table! horses for courses
@@RagedSmeagol I have been tempted by 6mm, perhaps I'll tackle my napoleonics that scale one day. I do like the look of HYW in 6mm too. Too many ideas too little time lol. Thanks for the comment!
Those rebels look great! Time well spent
thanks mate!
Those look great! Now do the Union.
thank you, Union on the way!
Its always good to switch projects, just to stop the burnout they look good
My burnout is coming fast and free these days, hopefully I can settle on something lol
I enjoy painting them in strips. Epic looks great on the table, very impressive. Nice work! Keep it up, and have fun with 'em! Be well.
@@bruceschmidt3404 thanks, you too!
wicked
thank you!
lovely work! zouaves gotta be my favourite, i think the flags are incorrect though, normally theres like the national flag & regiment flag but otherwise nice work :)
Thank you!
I'm going to be that guy and say that you have your units carrying both the First and Second Confederate National Flags when one of the standards should be either a state flag or a battle-flag.
cheers for the information! I was following the flag sheet without really knowing what I was doing. Thanks for clarification!
@@tinsoldierwargaming7698 Happy to help. The Stars and Bars is used till May 1863 and would gradually be replaced by the Second Flag(known as the Stainless banner). By December of that year all units in the ANV should be carrying it..things went a bit slower in the Western theatre.
They look the business sir .. Excellent
thank you!
looks like a fun project
thanks mate!
I hear ya mate!...but I'm not subjecting my eyeballs to epic lol Look gr8,you'll never see the details anyway
you just get those brits painted!
Nice set up, but try General de Armee, far superior set of rules to BP.
thank you, I've been meaning to have a look at others. Valor and Fortitude also tickle my fancy.
great looking table!
cheers!
Great set up mate 👍
thanks mate, appreciated!
looks the bee's knees mate!
do bees have knees? :D
@@tinsoldierwargaming7698 ofc! They're great looking(for knees),just like the dog's bolloc........
Very nice setup
thank you
A nice set up on a beautiful table!
thank you!
Excellent figures .. Great looking units , really like the chunky bases 😊
They look excellent, well done. Can I ask, which wash are you using? I’m just starting Russians myself.
I use Citadel Agrax Earthshade, best wash IMO
Mighty pretty indeed. So lead is more expensive but far less labour intensive?
Thanks mate. That would be the crux of the matter yes. Metals are usually single cast and minimal clean up (dependent on manufacturer) so it's usually out of the packet and straight to painting. but a battalion of metal figures usually puts you back around £50, whereas you'd get double that amount of models in plastic. I usually go for plastics, but Perry and warlord plastics for Naps are most often 2 or 3 pieces kits. victim had about 7 pieces per model which just took AGES!
Excellent work. Really like how you’ve painted the horses with the white markings. Gonna give that a try.
Thanks Mate
lovely looking russians
Thank you
Very nice mate, ye paint what you want thats what i do 👍🏻 i use pliers to straighten out the swords seems to work 😊
Very true Mate. I do love your ACW stuff, it's a tempting period also. Thanks for the tip re sword, will give it a go!
