    Good job! I’ve had those carbs apart but for some reason I don’t remember that main jet being removable. Maybe I was working on a slightly different model. Someone else mentioned increasing your audio volume. At the loudest sequences it was fine - just variations in volume from one clip to another, so I had to adjust volume at least three times. More consistent volume is what’s really needed. Great editing, by the way - I always appreciate speeding up fastener sequences.

    No matter what I try.....I can't get the torx screw off that holds the clutch drum on. This one I'm working on is a Craftsman.....but as you know it's the same. My screw is a T30 and it looks as if someone may have messed it up. Any suggestions. I sure hate to drill it.

    • @SHONEY21Z
      @SHONEY21Z 5 днів тому

      That’s a tough one. Stripping that screw is a major ordeal. I would search Amazon/harbor freight or anywhere you can think of for a long skinny stripped bolt extractor. Another option I’ve seen ppl try is hammer a flathead into the bolt head to try and make new groove and turn it that way. I’ve also seen this done with a slightly larger torx T-handle

    What do you use to clean the outside housing and make it shine again?

    • @SHONEY21Z
      @SHONEY21Z 6 днів тому

      Are you talking about the painted deck or the plastic engine cover?

    • @SHONEY21Z
      @SHONEY21Z 6 днів тому

      I usually pressure wash the deck, top and bottom, careful not to get too close to peel the paint or stickers. Then I use a cleaner/polish like Honda spray cleaner and polish. If the plastics have lost their shine, I’ll use a torch on low setting and heat up the plastic lightly to bring back the original color. Sometimes this doesn’t work, just depends on the type of plastic.

    Holy crap. Someone actually doing a cylinder leak down test the right way. Most videos on UA-cam about how to do this test are wrong. It’s nice to see someone doing it right. Lol. To find top dead center on the compression stroke, I put a little bit of air pressure in the cylinder. Like 6-8 PSI. Then I turn the engine until I feel the hard spot where the cylinder is compressing that air at TDC, I move the engine back and forth over that hard spot and stop in the middle of it. It’s really quick. If the engine is at exact TDC you don’t have to clamp or block the engine to keep it from turning. It will stay there.

      That’s a great tip and how I did it in the current video im working on. It’s a 1970 craftsman rototiller with a 6hp Tecumseh vertical shaft engine. I’ll try to get that video out in the near future. It would start with starting fluid but wouldn’t stay running, carb was immaculate checked compression, 25lbs. CLT had 65-70% loss. @@SHONEY21Z Thank you! I appreciate the video and the prompt reply to my query. I bought a set of long-handled torx wrenches at amazon and it includes the necessary size. My weed whacker is not the same model as yours, but it is very similar and your video helped me muddle through the project. I pulled the thing apart, put new line on, wound it up, etc. etc. It retracts nicely in its plastic housing until I reattach it to the weed whacker and pull the cord against the resistance of trying to turn the piston. Now when I pull the cord, it is not engaging the engine. It just makes a ratchet-sounding noise like it is slipping; clearly it won't start the engine this way. Any ideas? Might the part that catches the engine be worn out? I can't see that it is, but I don't have a lot of experience at this. Thanks.

    Does anyone have a source for the "lock nut" that holds down the starter recoil as shown at 8:20? I split it removing it.

    • @SHONEY21Z
      @SHONEY21Z Місяць тому

      The part isn’t sold individually. You’d need to buy the whole starter assembly for around $25. You could try to match it from a kit of end cap clips like this one from Amazon. amzn.to/3KSrGDZ

    I have husqvarna 236 x torq and first i change the pump. Result no oil. Then i chance worm gear and all the houses and also that metal blade. It worked about 4 hours and suddenly no oil again. Cleaned everything but no oil. Everything seems to be ok but it wont work. Next one is try to adjust worm ring and hope the best.

    • @SHONEY21Z

      Was the plastic gear on the pump chewed up? Is the plastic gear on the new pump chewed up? If so, it’s because the metal worm gear on the crank shaft has shifted. You would need to use a long socket big enough to sit over the crank shaft but the same size as the worm gear, then lightly tap it down (closer to the engine) to put it back in position. Doesn’t need much. For some reason they can push outward with use.

      Idk if the models are exactly the same or not. One thing I would check is if it has oil and if it does, empty it and look at the duckbill check valve inside the oil tank. It’s against the far wall looking into the tank. Make sure it looks to be in good shape and not broke/malformed.

    Rope in cylinder trick. But rope is stuck. What can I do ?

    • @SHONEY21Z
      @SHONEY21Z Місяць тому

      Rock the piston back and forth while pulling. If that doesn’t work, probably have to pull the exhaust off. The rope is likely pinched between the piston/cylinder and sticking out the exhaust port. Appended once or twice to me. Gently force in the right direction usually pushes the piston down enough to free the rope.

      @@dgjunior68is the clutch still attached? If so, use a wrench on the clutch to move the crank back and forth. By pulling the back cover off, you can see the crankshaft and see what direction you would need to go to get the piston to move away from the spark plug hole.

    I wonder how much fuel was used for each mower? this could be a factor too. I also figure the swath of each machine could be a factor, how many trips across the yard did it take for each machine? I does look like a fairly significant difference in your thumbnail photo. thanks for tyhe video.

      I've been using the TimeMaster for several years now. I have a yard that is just on the edge of requiring a riding/zero-turn mower. The TimeMaster has a about a .3 gallon gas capacity and can run about an hour. That being said, for the size of mower it is, the engine is pretty small. One of the things most owners do is eventually change to a stronger engine.

    • @SHONEY21Z
      @SHONEY21Z Місяць тому

      The Timemaster is a gas guzzler with a pretty small tank. And if I let the grass get a little high or it’s a little damp, the Timemaster struggles to mulch and bogs down. I usually cut 2x a week in spring and it’s fine but if I miss and it’s more than 6 days, it struggles and l it is def underpowered in that instance.

      @@SHONEY21Z I run a Craftsman YS4500 With a B&S 21HP Intek. I bought it after having a heart attack and couldn't do the push mower thing any more. I got the 21 HP so I could mount a snowblower on the front of it, so I have been running it year round for about 13 years now. I've kept up the servicing on it myself and even made a few modifications (no not ABS lol) and it seems to be running as good now as when it was purchased. I can now do the push mower thing again and have a Mastercraft that Canadian Tire sold quite some time ago (as a friend of mine would say, "It's old enough to vote."). It have a Tecumseh LEV100 engine on it and the guy that gave it to me said he thought the carb neeeded a "kit". I took it apart and cleaned it and after an oil change and cleaning the air filter...It is alive...well it runs good enough to mow the little patch of grass in front of the house (not big enough to call it a lawn). Will run it till it dies, then it can go top the scrap trailer down the road. lol Cheers from New Brunswick, Canada (eh) 🇨🇦
