In this video I explain a series of unfortunate events that stem from my clients PB musky inhaling a lure. We went from extremely happy because of the catch to instantly switching gears to life saving mode. I give a few tips or pointers that worked for us to get this fish back safely. I’m hoping this educational video might save a life in the future as well!

Nice fish. How many dates do you book a year? I fished the hayward area this summer, can't find a guide with openings in fall. Looking for next year first weeks of October

Happened to me this summer in July we spent close to a hour with the fish we did everything possible to get this fish back going, but she was hooked so bad and lost a lot of blood felt so bad for the fish but these things at time happen when your fishing you never want it to happen but sometimes they get the hook bad in the gills we even gave her some 7up to stop the bleeding but in the end it didn't work and we lost her...sucks when that happens just so glad it wasn't a fish in the 40's or 50's so lesson learned that day I guess..

I saw on your boat walk through on Matt Vavrochs channel you made a DIY musky storage box in the back of your boat. Would you be able to make a video on how you did that? Or point me to a video that you know of a similar build? Wanting a better solution for my boat and spending the money for custom box isn't appealing to me. Thanks! Keep up the good work!
@@CentralMinnesotaFirewood pretty simple really. Materials were still around the $450 mark, but way better than the quote I got for the same build. 1/4” Acrylic cut to whatever size you’d like and held together with loc tite outdoor adhesive. Just tape it off as you piece it together to hold everything as it dries. Mine is very sturdy and holds enough lures for an entire village. I used HDPE for the top and bottom. Hinged the top to open and close. I hope that helps.

It’s our responsibility as anglers to do the best we can. You are correct this does tend to happen more often with rubber.

The only people that would have an issue with this video is people that have caught 1 or 2 in their life and think everything goes perfect every time.
I appreciate the feedback. I wasn’t sure how people would take this. It is a part of it, and something that needs to be talked about more to educate.
@@muskyguaranteeguideservice9138 for sure. I had one I caught on top water in 68 degree water, net it in under 10-15 seconds. The hook popped off in the net. Pulled it out took a picture and put it back in under 20 seconds and it went belly up and couldn’t get it to revive. It’s just the shitty part of what we do.

Great catch. What made you make the decision to upsize? I am a newer fisherman and I would have thought to downsize but not upsize. Great fish
Most people say to downsize when the fish is in a negative or neutral mood. This fish was not, as it had just tried to eat the mid size medussa. Throwing back a bigger presentation at an active or aggressive fish will trigger the strike more so than downsizing in my experience. Reading these fish’s mood is part of the success.
