    Havent tried any SOG's yet. But i ditched leatherman years ago for Bibury and Roxon. Both make clones of leathermans for a quater the price.

    I tried so hard to love the PowerPint, but couldn't. The scissors are useless, and the small flat head bent on the first use. I'm back to carrying my full-sized Surge.

    Great job! This helped a lot. Long time Wave user but I’m now looking at the Arc. I’m curious…. what’s your opinion of Leathermans with spring pliers? I fumble with my Wave a lot when I use the pliers. I’m curious if spring-opening pliers are more intuitive. Any thoughts on this?

    • @Kayakatools
      @Kayakatools 6 днів тому

      Hey. I prefer not having springs but I do like the pliers to be loose, stiff ones are difficult to use. That said the spring loaded ones I have used felt really natural and easy to use.

    Nice kit but it's missing some good products that could radically improve your care regimen. I would also suggest replacing the scotch with blue non-scratch pads, and steel wool with stainless steel wool. Steel wool leaves small deposits of carbon steel in stainless steel. Which can reduce the stain resistance of your stainless steel. You should also add stainless steel wire brushes and brass brushes to your dremel kit.

    Leathermans is without a doubt the better multi-tool. They will outlast the other one by a hundred years. I've been using my full size Leatherman for years, and my dad used it for years before that.

    Sadly Germany has a law against carrying one handed knives with locking blades in public. There is a two handed version of the wave (no cutout on the blade; no idea if that’s actually enough). Would be awesome if Leatherman had more classic tools or blades which only hold loosely in place, something like the mechanism in a victorinox pocket knife is entirely legal even if the blade can be opened using one hand.

      @@Kayakatools They should start making wider multitools so they feel flatter against the leg like how a phone would. The closer they are to a cylinder the less comfortable they are in the pocket. Doubling the width of this tool would give it plenty of space for extra tools while keeping it pocketable

      @@Kayakatools honestly yes I do, the original is built better and is far more corrosion resistant than the newer version, I find the handles on the new one dig into my hands as they are not rounded. If they are released the original pst or super to it would get sales

  • @didymus03
    @didymus03 15 днів тому

    There are third party extensions, Leatherman has quite a few of their own (extension, ratchet extension, rebar/bond/juice extension, MUT extension) and then they have long bits, like the ones that come with the MUT but are available to purchase separately, then it is not too difficult to mod a cheap extension to fit the bit extender. Even with all this, you will find recessed screw holes that not even the Spirit or Rebar (or similar) would reach because they are too deep or narrow. Something like a Style PS usually fits these, but it really depends on what you run into enough to warrant carrying with you.
