Scott Manning - Illuminated (Lyric Video)
LYRICS
There I was in self pity
living life like you were suppose to
I had my friends but not a dime
toiling in obscurity....I was losing, yeah I was losing
down on my luck most the time
most the time...oh all the time....
something I've always been told
you stay in motion boy
I felt I had no control
to whom was I employed
but everything gets illuminated
and everything will turn out fine
most the time....not all the time
but I didn't care I wasn't about to drop the ball this time
I took a dare and made the most of it
you can't rewind time
it's anywhere you want it to be
so let's see it through this time
you can't escape the world around
you can't rewind time....no
I must have been the one to tell the world that I didn't care
forgive me....oh I misspoke
drowning in jealousy, I must admit I did not care
was it me....oh was I broke?
but if I didn't care I wasn't about to drop the ball this time
I took a dare and made the most of it
you can't rewind time
it's anywhere you want it to be
so let's see it through this time
you can't escape the world around
you can't rewind time....go go go!

Recently Mary Spender put out her cover of Fleetwood Mac's Go Your Own Way. I've been following Mary's channel for a while and thought her version of this classic tune was brilliant! So much so that it inspired me to become one of her Patreon members just so I could have access to her video and audio files. Plus it was a great excuse to try out my new Takamine 12-string! Thank you!
still listening to this until now
That's what I call a good cover
Hi sir, did you use the existing screw from edge block? Or you buy a new one for futone?? Thanks
Not 100% certain, but I believe I used the screws from the edge block.
Amazing playing man, congrats
Thank you! I appreciate it!
Can't hear, turn up louder
Very well played and nice guitar sound my friend! Keep up the good work!🎸
Thanks!
Honestly one of the best I’ve seen
Thanks!
Bad ass! One of my all time favorite Pantera songs!
Fantastic cover man
Thanks!
So when you say the neck is a D profile, do you think it’s a fatter neck or a slimmer neck?
I would definitely not characterize the neck as "fat". AND I need to correct myself on the profile and say the neck is more of "V" shape. Hope that helps.
great demo. Thanks
Thanks!
Crazy train was one of the first solos I learned how to play on guitar. The solo in the Blizzard of Oz tablature book is a little different than what’s in the Randy Rhodes tribute book. They sound pretty close, but the live version is easier to play. The extra solo on the live version of suicide solution is another great solo to learn.
I’m putting on my zebra skinned pants as we speak! You remember when we were playing cards one night with Yo and we were all messing around and you said - Wait, wait… and Yo said “this ain’t White Lion motherfucker”! Still cracks me up to this day😂
hahahahahaha, I forgot about that! Now it is White Lion!
He's always been my favorite guitar player Crazy style Great solo bro sounded killer
thanks! Randy was definitely one of the greats!
That was kool!
Yes randy!
Pretty clean bro
Nice sweep picking at the end
You nailed tapping that bend. Well done.
thanks!
rad
Always a "Tammy" in the background squacking "What?".
Too late for the party or not, whatever. Thank you for this! Do you think it could handle C tuning well? And playing stoner/sludge with it?
I'm sure it could definitely handle a lower tuning. However, it might require that you file the nut if using thicker strings.
Is there a follow-up video for the acoustic outdoor? 😂
acoustic outdoor?
Hey Scott I really need your opinion on this . I bought the Yamaha ACR5 but it keeps going out of tune, the intonation seems fine , but it seems high at the bridge and lower at the nut.. I don’t know if that’s normal? Did you have to get any work done on yours? I m thinking about sanding the bridge to see regulate it and hopefully stop tuning problems What would you say about this ? Thank you !
I got the sunburst one , and it’s the second one already , I have insurance with guitar center so I was able to send it back and get a different one , but the same problem happened
@@E-man100 I didn't have to get any work done on mine. I got mine from Sweetwater. My advice would be to have a local luthier look at it unless you're really comfortable making any necessary adjustments. I asked a local luthier here and his response is below. Good luck! The truss rod is NOT for adjusting the action. The truss rod is to counter the 160 or so pounds of tension from the strings to keep the correct amount of relief in the neck when tuned to the desired pitch The nut slots should then be checked to ensure the are deep enough to have easy action over the first 5-6 frets but not so low that the strings produce fret buzz on the 1st fret when played open. This is checked by fretting each string at the 3rd fret and while holding that you check the clearance between the string and the 1st fret. So yes, the strings are always closer to the frets at the nut than at the last fret by the sound hole. When the truss rod is set correctly and the nut is checked, the action is then lowered by shaving some material off of the bottom of the bridge saddle, taking care to keep the bottom of the saddle flat and level.
Great Scott , thank you so much for that 🤟🏼🤟🏼
Fabulous visual production and video editing. So beautiful, sweet and smooth. Much inspired and talented. A real peaceful and relaxing pleasure to listen. Full of poetry and tenderness. Brighting musical production and orchestration. Unique creative style. Superb interpretation. Vocal and instrumental. Good for the mind and the ears. Big big big like for this fantastic perform and brighting sharing. Splendid and luminous.
Thanks for the kind words!
What strings do you use on this guitar sir?
I have D'Addario Phosphor Bronze EJ16 .012-.053 on the guitar. Those are my favorite acoustic strings.
Tkss 👍🏼
Serious question.. how long did it take you to feel comfortable picking that way in the beginning of the video?
I assume you are asking about the hybrid finger picking stuff? Honestly, it's something I'm still working on. I've never given it the attention that one might if trying to develop a technique. It's just evolved over the years as means to an end and also because I never found a thumbpick comfortable.
That was it👌🏼
Spot on. His playing on this album is not only darker, but a bit more difficult than his usual good time, party tunes had been to this point. IMO. You nailed it.🤘
Thanks! I agree that his playing on Fair Warning is a bit darker and a little more fusion like. Maybe it was the Allan Holdsworth influence.
@@ScottManning7 You're right. I'd never even thought about it before. They were hanging pretty heavy around this time. Again, great playing.
One of Eddie's best solos IMHO
Agreed
Thanks for confirming what I always knew..... Vito barely used his pick during this solo 😂
Vito was a smooth operator.
So clean 😮💨
Damn great stuff.....brilliant voice and perfect 12string support.
Very nice tone through the head ear hearing thingees!
Your voice sounds great, Scott. Love the video, too.
Thanks Scott! Hope you're well!
Thanks for the great demo Scott! I tried a few Taylors yesterday at Guitar Center and was not blown away. I'm leaning heavily towards the AC5 series because of Yamaha's commitment to quality and their workmanship blows the competition away. Even their $200-$300 acoustics beat everything in that price range! Thanks for helping me make the decision to buy one!
Dave, I'm glad the video helped! Good luck with your new guitar!
They have some $300 guitars that destroy $1100 Mexican Martins

Well done, definitely the best rundown I’ve seen of this guitar
Thanks Dave!
How do you like it after a year now
Still like it a lot! The action on it is just so smooth.
@@ScottManning7 awesome trying to get one for my 85 st-335 squier made in japan
@@PACK-ge5gu very cool! Hope it works out for you.
Had a $3000 Taylor. Sold it and bought a used AC5R at Guitar Center for $900. Sounds and plays just as nice as the Taylor any day of the week. So rich and deep. 5 stars hands down.
Nice! Congrats Mike! They really are great guitars for the money.
How does this compare against Yamaha FSX5
I haven't played an FSX5. Unfortunately, I can't help you. Good luck.
@@ScottManning7 thank you
Sounds beautiful! Thank you for a wonderful review. Looks like I'll be adding another guitar to the family. 😁
Thank you for the kind words Annie and good luck with your new guitar!
Just ordered the stone tone Jeff Loomis granite block. I hope it works as described.
Tenacious D?
Should probably be wearing a mask cuz that was SICK bro!!
Thanks!
Love that you pour soul and passion into music
thanks for watching and the comment!
@@ScottManning7 I’m also thinking bout getting one of these. It felt great when I tried.
The Orion arrangement is fabulous!
what pickup do you have in the neck? It matches the Brobucker well!
It's a Seymour Duncan Pearly Gates.
