A commercial for the 1990 Japan tour of Starlight Express. I'm assuming this is an early commercial regarding early ticket reservations as the date of the commercial before it lists a date of January 28, which doesn't match known touring dates for the 1990 tour. Footage shown is proshot from the first Japan/Australia tour. Starlight Express is property of Andrew Lloyd Webber/Really Useful Group.

A clip from the second touring production of Starlight Express in Japan. In this video, Rusty and Pearl have their final moment together before the rest of the cast come onstage to perform Light at the End of the Tunnel, the finale of the show. Following this song, the cast would do their skate-round and bows before ending the show. I won't list actors for this cast because that's a death wish ...

In this clip, three of the actresses playing the Coaches perform the first of two songs found on a promo CD released during the revival show's run. Two commercials for the 1990 Japan tour of Starlight Express. Rather than the previous two commercials having clips from the actual show or from a different production, this particular set of commercials uses footage recorded from the rehearsal stage of the show. One features Greaseball and some of the Nationals, while the other one features Rusty and the Coaches. An interesting thing to note i...

The clips range from late 1994 cast to the 1996 cast, with several swings/understudies interspersed. Some cast members give small intros about themselves and the characters they play, while others have fun and goof around. This selection features only the 1996 cast, and I'll try to name all tha...

This is beautiful 😭❤️
The tape’s quality is a shame 😢. I wish that it was higher quality. I have a vcr and it would be so cool to have a high quality recording of this production.
This has to be one of my favorite songs in the entire show. The harmony of “SILVER DOLLAAAARRR” hits so hard omg.
When you have ADHD, you don't have a single train of thought. You have multiple, and they're always performing Coda Freight.
司会の古舘さんはブレードランナーみたいと言っていたけど、スターライトエクスプレスの衣装は、全て機関車、装甲貨車、冷凍貨車、客車に変形するトランスフォーマーみたいに見える。
Hey! Someone found my email on an old blog post asking to trade and it relit my starlight obsession. Hope you’re doing well!
I’m doing great! Thank you for checking in, and glad to hear you’re picking up trades again!!
Looking for full video of Japan tour
If they recorded the original cats cast, why couldn’t they record the original starlight express cast?
Is there a link to the whole thing?
スターライトエクスプレスのダイナ、バフィー、アシュレー、パール役の女性達が、シングルCDを出していた事を近年知った。
Love..love this!!! Any chance you have the entire Broadway show with this fantastic audio?? Thank you for all of these!!
This is a beautiful scene, thank you for posting
i crush on Greaseball. WISH I HAD BEEN THERE.BUT WAS BORN IN 1984,SO WOULD NOT HAVE UNDERSTOOD IT
This is the cast we saw in Melbourne, Australia
Happy 40th anniversary to Starlight Express!
A criminally underrated musical!
Ummm how, played in West End for nearly 20 years, played on Broadway for nearly 2 years, has been playing in same venue in Germany since 1988! Had many successful tours worldwide since the 80's for decades! The original cast album sold millions worldwide/still sells- it it still gets mentioned/shown in many TV documentaries, on Radio, on social media, etc And as you know has had a successful revival in London, and is loved still by millions worldwide So veryyyyyy confused here Victor!!!!
@@mikekaraoke Underrated here in America.
@@victorhernandez8723 You mean, because it hasn't toured in US or been at the another venue for many years?? I saw it in Las Vegas Hilton where it was yet another hit there for just over 4 years- Hilton on 14 September 1993 to Nov of 1997! And then the 1st US Tours in the 80's/90's running for a few years and then the 2nd US tour-opened in Biloxi, Mississippi on 1 April 2003 and toured the U.S. until 13 June 2004 in L.A.. It shuld def do a revivalagain on Broadway and/or do another US Tour! Why don't you come to London and see it??
Happy 40th anniversary to Starlight Express!
Did you hear starlight express is coming back to London in June of this year 2024
Recently found an old ticket for this show from June 1999. Dress Circle...... £12.50!! Those were the days!!
The ALW mega mix 😂
Yes!!!!
Awesome
来年、starlight expressがロンドンに帰ってきますね。1987年、1990年のように、また日本ツアーにも来てくれることを願っています。
Loved/still love this TV advert, I remember as a kid thinking why did he say available on Album/Cassette + not say Compact Disc though it says on there + Compact Disc! I remember on other adverts for the cast recording it would say Compact Disc/CD from the voice-over !
I just love how the Mexico cast has free form Tickovers
HOPPERSSSS
Love these Mega Musicals that first came out in the 80's, and also other favs like: Cats, Les Miz, Chess, Mutiny, Phantom of the Opera, Metropolis, Miss Saigon etc.......
YEAAAH MY SINGING TEACHER AS ROCKY 3
I was lucky enough to see this 3 times in its opening 2 years in London. My first time was just outside the inner track and then second time inside the inner track. Third time was nearer the back. It really was the most extraordinary thing I've ever seen, and we used to listen to the soundtrack at home REALLY loud! (" CONTROL CONTROL....!!"). Loved Pops.
I Love it XXX ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you for sharing this. I have no idea how to describe how it makes me feel.
Ahh, Bobby Collins. My first, and still favourite, Rusty.
I literally watch this everyday, my day isn't complete without watching it at least once.

Do You have the complete Show????
Hello! I do, but I do not upload full shows to UA-cam. If there is anywhere to privately message you, however, we can try to work out a way where I can send you the full file itself if that is okay!
"Relaaaxed. Relaaaxed.... PISSED OFF! PISSED OFF! ARRGGHHH!!!" 2:11 😂
1:27 - A Lotta Locomotion 3:36 - Starlight Express
Thank you for sharing this, it’s Great! I dressed from 87’ to 88’ and the memories come flooding back xxx
Hello do you have àny mtv épisodes from Channel nine With Richard wilkins ?
Watching the rehearsal for Rolling Stock makes them all look like they’re working as one unit
Bobby Collins is my favourite Rusty, he's so cute!
Omg- rusty is so fricken cute and his voice is wonderful!!! Just watching this made my dayyy!!!
Bobby Collins❤️
3:21 proof that Broadway was never really afraid to cast BIPOC in whatever role provided they had the talent and were right for the part.
Cutting C.B. was the worst decision relating to this musical ever
Where The FUCK is Caboose?!
Around this time Caboose was taken out of the show.
@@moony1857 Why?!
@@JoeyMBrooklynHe was cut from the show in the early 90s. I think he might've been cut for time. I'm not really sure, but he did come back in 2003.
Damn he’s incredible
This sounds like it’s from a mic check or tech run at a meeting venue. I think you can hear some of the crew talking in the video
I think this was filmed in the tech booth during an actual show, but I'd have to check the full boot to see.
What are these new lyrics with Buffy and Ashley? I’ve never heard them before.
"I'm Buffy, have a sandwich, each one is curled by hand!" "I'm Ashley, I'm a smoker, the last one in the land!" "I stack the snacks in plastic packs, the range is really wide." "Eat the plastic, that's fantastic." "But don't touch what's inside!"
@@CallMeRedon very interesting lyrics.....
The audience clapping along kills me hahaha especially during the apology
Greg Mowry is the definitive Rusty. So damn good.
He was good, but definitely not definitive! Ray Shell and Bobby Collins were better than him by a wide margin!
@@bladeobrian2144 I do love Ray but apparently I am in the severe minority on my opinion on Bobby. He’s great don’t get me wrong but he just doesn’t have the vocal chops for Rusty for me. BUT that’s just me. I want my Rusty to be able to sing the house down (Greg Mowry, Ray Shell, Greg Ellis, and the 2019 Bochum Rusty though I can’t remember his name). Bobby definitely does embody the character well but he just doesn’t have the voice for me. Greg Mowry, however, is one of the best singers I have ever heard. Granted, this is all my opinion but no one will ever top Greg for me.
@@danielbaskins6601 Greg was definitely good for singing, but for the acting/character parts, he seemed a bit milquetoast compared to the others, though that may have to do with how the Broadway version was written. Even at his best, he kind of got outshined by the rest of the cast, which tends to happen to Rusty a lot.
@@bladeobrian2144 I can get behind that but I think that’s because it’s such an ensemble show
