    Events have to be more than 10 seconds to be counted in the AHI number. You could have dozens of 9 seconds events and you can still have a low AHI. Programs such as Oscar or SleepHQ can help you better analyze your data.

    I’m using the ResMed app and most every night it tells me I have had leaks. I don’t know how or where. I have used the MaskFit and I am starting out with no leaks. It doesn’t wake me up. In the morning the chin strap is still on. I have tried the Fisher Paykel Evora, ResMed N30, AirFit P30i (I also got the cushion type to try with this headgear). I am fed up.

    Good afternoon. I’m new to cpap machine. I have the nasal mask. N20. It covers my nose and comes right above my mouth. I thought I liked it but it’s not really that comfortable . And the past couple of days I wake up feeling like I have stuffy nose. My numbers on the Resmed app are fine. I’m gonna ask to try full face mask. ❤

    I’ll check on the Inspire therapy. I’m training to be an airline pilot, which means many nights on the road in hotels. Uncontrolled OSA is a disqualifier for a medical certificate from the FAA. I had to submit data from my Resmed machine to the FAA to prove compliance with my therapy, so the Inspire therapy would likely also need medical clearance.

      @@robertahosey9765 actually this is a good question. I will begin CPAP use within the next couple of weeks and would be interested in knowing also. This video is just what I was looking for. I just need to vent. I’m worried about my mother. She tends to take the mask off multiple times a night. She feels suffocated, claustrophobic and uncomfortable, she says. She doesn’t really understand how important it is to wear it for the majority of every night no matter what as long as it’s not a problem with the machine. And that’s what her doctor told her too. But she doesn’t want to understand because of the unpleasant discomfort she feels when using it. She has the same ResMed machine you showed us this video, and I saw that she’s only been using it for 3,5 hours a night for the past 8 months…. She’s already at high risk of heart problems due to really bad HCM. And her bmi is 44. And she has high blood pressure. ChatGPT is not really helping me, because I’ve already tried to talk to her in different ways with different approaches, but nothing works. Hearing it seriously and uprightly from a doctor would most definitely help. Her doctor is way too namby-pam-by. I love your videos. Thank you❤️

    Ive been using cpap for years and been a member of various cpap communities and here are a few things ive heard that were issues: 1. Machine too loud 2. Mask is too loud 3. Mask exhalation ports output a lot of air 4. Waking up with headaches 5. Dry mouth 6. Rain out 7. Still waking up tired 8. Doctors who just rely on AHI alone to determine CPAP effectiveness All of these are worth making videos about if you ask me.

    I do like that mask that you suggest (ResMed N30) but it doesn’t give me a great seal, I have marks on side of face. I’m going to try the F40. F30 was great one night (0Leak/min) and I was almost 100% at 99% oxygen, but then the next night, horrible drawdowns in SP02 with LEAK 18L/min with the same mask that gave me great sleep/0 leaks the night before. It’s so frustrating! I’m on ASV now as I failed on CPAP, then Bipap for a year, now ASV. Still getting big drawdowns. So frustrating. I wonder if there is any true help that works. I think it’s all about the Leak being controlled so therapy is effective, but maybe I”m wrong.

    • @sleephoria
      @sleephoria 5 місяців тому

      Thanks for making the distinction. Yes under the nose = nasal cradle. Nasal cradle + mouth covering = hybrid. Agree skincare can be an issue as the full face masks have a larger surface area. Timing would be helpful and if one can apply the products earlier and have them absorbed before putting the mask on would help.

    • @adila2442
      @adila2442 5 місяців тому

      @@sleephoria I have a hybrid full face mask and switching to nasal cradle style it's just easier. It's a waiting 30 mins after applying skincare then a mask liner ( you purchase a pack for the month) and then 4 cloth padding to reduce the face lines from face mask. It's additional expense. Nasals are cheaper, don't leave marks on your face, easier to put on and take off, easy to travel with, easy to do with skincare. Full Face Masks are great for allergy season and mouth breathers but you sound like dark vador.

      Great question! Yes it certainly can work to improve the strength of one's upper airway. I have reviewed the data and found it fascinating. I haven't had any takers to actually follow through with this. There is a FDA approved device called eXcite OSA that may be beneficial for snoring-mild OSA. Working with a myofunctional therapist may help as well. Also there are some apps such as snore gym or myairway gym that offer instruction on this.

    Nicely done Ma'am thank You. My dear departed Mother would rythe on the couch in the evenings, (mid 1960's) legs bent on the couch, rubbing a calf against the other knee. It wasn't a titled malady back then, nor were their meds. Looking back, She always appeared exhausted. She passed at 55 years old. Other conditions taken into account, of course. However, one can speculate, considering RLS consumed her sleep time, that it certainly affected Her overall health. My Aunt (Her Sister) suffers from it as do my cousins, and ME. I've been watching several 'tubes about the condition in hopes of gleaning something new. Thank You for noting the augmentation. The Requip (3 mg.) isn't quite doing it anymore, now the sensations are occurring in my forearms like my legs. I am interested to try the Gabapentin. I've tried alot of things, apparently in my case, medication is the only answer. But I'm so glad others have found relief in the things I didn't. Again, I appreciate Your well done presentation.
