      Really depends what power you are chasing and on engine prices nowadays, I paid $4k Aud for a complete engine and spent about 20 on the rest of the build including expensive items like ECU, new harness, 1000hp drivetrain, freshened up the engine etc.

    So I have an auto Altezza. If I want to upgrade to a BRZ LSD, I'll need IS300 stub axles and axle shafts? What about the propeller shaft?

      Correct, or turbo JZX shafts and stubs. I have a single piece shaft so I’m not able to confirm if that would need any sort of modifying

      Yeah mate, at the time it was stock bottom end. Had a nitto head gasket, head studs, drop in kelford cams. I'm surprised it never destroyed an oil pump to be honest 😅

    So if I got it right, non-turbo JZX100 stubs are the same as IS300 stubs ? I found the gt86 diff, I have the 300 axles, I just need to find the stubs now and even when cross checking the parts compatibility through toyodiy I have troubles finding actual compatible parts (they list the 7.5 inch SXE10 stubs as the same as the 8" stub from the JCE10/IS300), and there are a loooot of cars listed when you look through that cross reference (aristo, crown, soarer, supra, chaser, etc). I wish I could buy all of them and reference all the sizes so there would no longer be misleading ahah, for example the toyota parts catalogue says stubs from 1997 and later model JZA80 fits, but earlier models JZA80 don't (1997+ has the 10mm bolts but earlier ones have 12mm bolts). It's all so complicated lmao

      Yes very true troublesome finding compatibility. Non turbo jzx stubs won’t work ❌ - Small splines with smaller pcd flange to suit is300 shafts and non turbo jzx shafts. Is300 stubs do work ✅ - large splines with smaller pcd flange to suit non turbo jzx and is300 shafts TURBO jzx stubs (AND SHAFTS) do work ✅ - large splines and larger flange to suit turbo jzx shafts Supra/soarer/aristo stubs don’t work ❌ - different style flange and longer splines

    Motor won't last long unless you put an extra drain hole at the rear of the head to drain the oil back into the sump ..at high rpm all the oil ends up in the head ..also a poor tune and the ring lands crack almost a guarantee

    auto is200 diffs are 4.1 ratio in Ireland, manual is 3.9 ratio is stamped on the crown wheel

    Could the y38 86 diff fit into a mx83 Cressida at all. The diff has the jzx stubs and axle’s so would suit the power of the 1jz I’ve put in it.

    Bonnet risers make a good difference. You'll see the heat demisting your windscreeen in winter. Dont know much on this particular chassis setup but If you're using the oem thermostat(opens 82°), swap it out for a Billion thermostat (opens 65°) or golebys stocks the Mishimoto (opens 68°) dont try no thermostat like you would SR, JZ hate it. If you can run a rad beneath your support or modify to v mount instead do it (may eliminate ac) but ac condenser also restricts flow significantly and heat soaks motor pretty bad. Vents may help a little but wont solve it. Ducting rad with foam or shroud to force maximum efficiency helps. Ive had nothing but trouble with mishimotos, cfm is horrible and motors randomly dying or running slower/unevenly etc. 1JZ need minimum 3200cfm, get yourself a pair of Derale/with shroud, twin 12" 260watt, 24.8 draw each, 1800cfm low/2400high so total 4000-4800cfm make a huge difference. Whatever rad youre using go minimum 2 core 35mm diametre, triple core 50mm will be too hard to work with. Find a dual pass rad also, (not just 2 core.) Get yourself a water spray kit of the rad so if summer/drifting does get too hot you can quickly cool and minimise damaging anything faster. Also been hearing about and seeing many in Japan lately are blocking off the waterneck joiner, adding swirl pot eliminates possible airlocks in back of head and bypassing where turbo and head meet waterpump so turbo water isnt heatsoaking head. (Currently researching more into this mod) Lastly if youre running 98, last choice (sucks) but may have to consider flex fuel and using e85 for the lower running temps too. On my 180sx using dual core, AU thermos(3200cfm) shroud ducting, billion thermostat etc, running temps were often as low as 68°, summer average 72-82, drifting 80-90, certain driving repetitively under elevation/load 85-110° on 98. Hottest ive gotten was matsuri 40° summer drifting got 118°. Can improve on the 180 however by doing dual pass, better cfm, and e85 options in future. Your bay design, fmic and front bar will be the biggest restriction/cause. If you can, look into alternate front bars and relo or swap ic to allow more freeflow into rad. ( side note: Dont bother trying push fans wont help) I battled cooling a decade ago too, tried absolutely everything to stay on 98. Hit up Brendan Ryan on FB. Drifts a 1jz IS200 like a boss, he may be able to help with more info pr solutions with your particular chassis. 🤙 Good luck! Hmu if needed :)

      Only non turbo jzx stub shafts. Turbo jzx has a much larger PCD and shaft thickness that suits larger 8” diffs such as the gt86 diff

      Depends what gearbox you have, I’m running a t56 and acceleration and control feels amazing with the 4.1. I know the altezza’s came with a 4.1 so would be a good idea to check with altezza owners if you’re still running the oem box 👍🏼

    for those you have to run gs300 outer tie rods to maximize the angle. Use gs300 outer and flip them. So the left goes on the right and the right on the left side

      GT86/BRZ/FRS are all the same ratio, housing and Torsen unit I believe. IS200/300 are the same housing just different ratios. They are all interchangeable
