82nd Anniversary of the Bataan Death March commemorated in SF
The Bataan Legacy Historical Society, in partnership with the San Francisco National Cemetery and American Legion Corregidor Post 510, commemorated the 82nd anniversary of the Bataan Death March.
This annual celebration memorializes the approximate 75,000 Filipino and American troops who were forced to surrender to the Imperial Japanese Army after fighting in the Bataan Peninsula in the Philippines during World War II. The troops were forced to endure a 65-mile death march to their prison camp. Thousands died during the march.
The program featured members from the US Armed Forces, Bay Area law enforcement and firefighters, ROTC and JROTC cadets, veterans, and civic and youth organizations.
The Congressional Gold Medal was also presented to several Filipino families whose ancestors fought in World War II.
We remember and we are grateful for the sacrifices and the service of all who fought for us all.

There is no such thing as a style. There is only movement. “Styles” only serve to separate people. Culture is one thing, movement is another. Enjoy and share!

Styles do exist and they are a good thing. Without style there is no individuality and culture becomes communist culture. The nation of the Philippines is not one culture. Yes the national language is Filipino, which is a mix of Tagalog, English, and Spanish, and the laws and rules and government are written in English. But our individuality, our true culture and style is division, it is Ilokano, Ifugaw, Igorot, Cebuana, Visaya, Pagasinan, Mindanaw, Moro, Waray and more and more . The truth of our culture expands beyond the nationality of the Philippines, because before then we were much closer to the Malay and Indonesians, and even the Native Taiwanese. Style is good , because humbles us as a people.

So because they’re students (in name not, in function) they can do whatever they want and disrupt the schooling and classes of other students also paying, but instead actually just trying to learn and get through their classes and move on? They all should’ve been expelled and banned from returning on the condition of an extended apology, if even that. The TWLF communist inspired garbage should never have been caved to. All ethnic studies should be done away with as soon as possible. Only the “tuned in” radical understands that all they do is encourage parallel historical selective in-group thinking. Psychologically and at time epically further encouraging even more alienation and separation from the country as a whole and causing more tribalism and fragmentation throughout the country. There is one history, American history. Properly taught. That would include teaching everything possible, whether it be examples of abuses against blacks, as well as teaching about black thuggery and self-destructive community views, etc. It must be unified for perspective in totality, not indoctrination with ignorance and emotion.

My late grandfather enlisted as Philippine Scout on December 10, 1928. He was POW and survived Death March of Bataan. Then went on to serve with the US Armed Forces and deployed to Korea. He survived and transferred to the U.S. Army Air Corps which later became US Air Force. He retired on January 31, 1960, with over 30-years of combined military service as Philippine Scout, U.S. Army, U.S. Army Air Corps, and U.S. Air Force. He was laid to rest in Punchbowl National Cemetery of the Pacific in October 1981. Lolo Tito Perocho Amasol, Sr., served honorably. Thank y’all for your service! #VeteransDay2023 Salute to All Veterans! Sharing the story of retired United States Air Force Tito Perocho Amasol, Sr., of Alimodian, Iloilo, Philippines 🇵🇭. Tito paved the road for all of the Amasol Clan that served and currently serving in the United States Armed Forces. Tito Perocho Amasol, Sr., best known as "Lolo Tito", started his remarkable U.S. military career as Philippine Scout on December 10, 1928, enlisting with an 8th grade-equivalent or 2nd year high school education. During WWII, he fought alongside the U.S. Armed Forces in the Philippines. Unfortunately, he was one of the POWs when the US Armed Forces surrendered to the enemy forces. He survived the grueling "Death March of Bataan" as POW and went on to complete his military career with over 30-years of combined military service as Philippines Scout, U.S. Army, U.S. Army Air Corps, and finally with the United States Air Force where he retired on January 31, 1960, at Clark Air Force Base. He survived combat tours as POW during WWII and deployed again to another combat assignment to Korea. His tombstone reads, "WWII and Korean War", and now laid to rest at Punchbowl National Cemetery of the Pacific in Honolulu, Hawaii. My mission is to gather his military awards and decorations and continue sharing his story so his legacy lives on. I have been sharing his story during military appreciation on board cruises:). Lolo Tito has been vetted to receive the Congressional Gold Medal (CGM), and he was awarded on Saturday, November 13, 2021, at Gold Coast Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, NV 🇺🇸. Thank you Lolo Tito for your selfless service in the U.S. Armed Forces, fighting for our FREEDOM, and paving the road for us. RIP "Lolo" Tito P. Amasol, Sr., WWII and Korean War. Date of service - December 10, 1928 through January 31, 1960. Note: Photo includes his three sons. Two were drafted in Vietnam 🇻🇳 and his youngest son retired from the U.S. Air Force. Six of us grandchildren served, retired, and currently serving. Now, three of his great grandchildren served/serving. One recently graduated from college and earned her commissioned through Air Force ROTC and now the first female from our family to serve. The source of Lolo Tito’s military service is from official DoD records that I requested from Archives.Gov “NOT” Ancestry (dot) com. Lolo Tito’s orders of transfer from Philippine Scout to the US Army was signed by then General Douglas “I shall return” MacArthur one of the 5-Star General of the United States 🇺🇸 Army. Again, thank y’all for your service and God Bless us all!
