We finally got the OptiTrack working with Metahumans! It all looks pretty good...it's good but not great, yet. We are tying to figure out if on the Motive side or on the Unreal Side or is it because we shouldn't use the booties provided. Maybe we should add makers straight to the performers shoes, that way we'll know that there isnt a height offset. Anyway...back to the drawing board!

We decided to take the Vive Pro out of the box for the first time today to do some Virtual Production R&D. We tracked the Ursa Mini 4.6k with the Vive Pro in Unreal. I was waiting for a jumping and move example hahaha I want use this for my game at least for some parts and cinematics, would you think it will work?
is this hybrid principle possible to accomplish in reverse? I use Character Creator 4 and have been having issues with transferring my stylized characters into metahuman... but how about just taking the head from CC4 and attaching it to MH? Thoughts? great video by the way.. I am subscribing to you now

I know a fix. I do use Xsen. U have to get the measurement of the character. It is the only way to fix foot sliding.
I was truly impressed after watching your video, The precision and ease of use demonstrated by the motion capture system were remarkable. The scene with two people simultaneously using the mocap system was especially intriguing, showcasing the immense potential this technology holds for animation and game development. Witnessing the expansion of creative possibilities through innovative technology is always exhilarating.
I just make an invisible material and add that material to the donor body. Then attach metahuman head. Then use facial animator to make the necessary face/head movement to fit the occasion.
It still renders a mesh under the hood, which is not great
How well does it work? Specifically for hand and upper body tracking
tutorial: can't delete "body" of your metahuman? Is error appearing? Well you can tell me thank you, because I found solution: 1. Delete Body 2. Press 3 vertical dots right to "Compile" button and turn ON "Jump to Error Node" 3. Press "Compile". you will jump to the node where error appeared. DELETE that node! 4. Repeat step 3 until you delete all error nodes (it is around 4-5 of them) 5. Compile and Save. Congrats you are done!

I have a Metahuman head who I want to attach to a body of a character that's skin is not a skin color I can match in the Metahuman skin selector. And I got to wondering, do you know of a way to take the texture of the original head, and match it to the Metahuman's head? This way I can match it to the body.

I'm using UE 5.0 so ( Set up rig > Select Rig > Humanoid ) isn't there. is there a work around?
I tried it on 5.2. I got a message when deleting the Metahuman body " If you delete it then those nodes will become invalid".

First of all,great tut,really specific in the little details,but i'm currently using ue5.0,i use the same method as yours,but the head is no following the body animation,the head is slightly offseting from the newly attached body,is there something i missed in your tut?

I feel like every single metahuman tutorial I try to follow fails at the beginning. When I delete the body I get errors and when I try to compile the character head disappears. (Error Component body has bound events, Bad Blueprint)
Any reason I get this message in the Event Graph for my character: "This node is disabled and will not be called. Drag off pins to build functionality." for EventActor BeginOverlap block and Event Task block?
also the hair didn't show up on my model...when i open it up in Unreal Third Person project.

Thanks for this video! Just curious, why did you parent the head+body in-level, as opposed to combining them in the character blueprint, and then dropping that BP in scene?

If you don't mind...what cameras are you using and how many ?
I have also been looking into this. Are you using the live link method to get the motion in or the 'old' method where you need to play in editor? In my investigation, it looks like the live link method does not scale the joints which I think accounts for the foot sliding. The old method does scale correctly, but it only works in play mode, which is not a good workflow for VP, recording takes and just working. I have flagged it with support but they have no idea when they will get to it. If you were using the live link skel, try the old way and see if it's better
the ue5 now dos not let you copy your metahuman and delete the boy as the blueprint give me a bad box the model mesh no where to be seen unless i hold Ctrl + Z to go back to fix and try again still getting the same problem
You have to do some deleting in the animation BP
@@TheSecretHideout could you explain which files we delete, please? edit - it says in red writing when you click on target(picture of magnifying glass next to it) which bluprint boxes to delete, i think but it seemed to compile succesfully

Is it possible to have custom-dyi cams and just use optitrack software? I don't want to pay 10 000 USD for cameras I could assemble myself for 100 usd.
No you cannot. The cameras have to go through an authentication process inside motive and if they aren’t recognized, they won’t be usable.

Thanks Brent! I appreciate that. It "looks" like my niece... but its off a bit. It looks like a "Kyla Impersonator". I wish there were still the same controls that come with the baseline Metahumans. I could REALLY hone it in. It's close but could be better. This MH jawline is a bit rounded. In real life her jaw is a bit more angular giving her a mort tear dropped shaped face. I think I my have to sculpt it a bit in Zbrush and then try it again. OR there is that mesh remixer plug in plugin that lets you sculpt the mesh a bit...If I can only remember the name. I hear its a bit spendy but I'm willing to do it.
@@TheSecretHideout Yeah, mine still needs alot of work. The first one I made was pretty dank. I've reworked it a bit, but my scan my head was slightly turned and I need to capture the back of the head to get the shape right. I think you are right about having more control though. I'm sure its a limitation to the underlying bones too. There is likely a threshold. Let me know if you figure out a better workflow. I'll keep messing with it too.
