    i'm not interpreter, i learned english, italien in school but i can't become interpreter and even my english or italian isn't perfect. That's a work to be an interpreter even if you can speak another language, that's difficult to be interpreter and it's like translater, book translater for example it's not just because you can understand or speak another language that you can translate a book easily, translate a book you need to understand another language and translate yes but you need to adapt the expression and you need to be a writer. And i memorized so many vocabulary thanks to kdrama and i can understand 45-50% but i don't have any memory of a quote from a kdrama, book, i can't remember quotes even in my languages lol.

    I'm intermediate 중급자 level, i have been watched kdrama since 15 years, i love kdrama! I think it's hard to focus on 2 subtitles, i watched with eng sub. If you want to learn it's better to watch a kdrama you had already watched or re-watched an ep. I can understand 45-50% i think of an ep of kdrama without subtitles. I learned so many vocabulary thanks to kdrama and i noticed grammar i learned watching a kdrama.

    This is the most useful way I've seen yet to study Korean. My sister and I were already planning to do this once she finishes the class she's currently taking, but we didn't know exactly how we would go about doing it, so this post is very timely. Thank you! My only problem with learning Korean on ANY platform is that it's always translated into the English SVO sentence structure, so the subtitles will never match the dialogue. I understand why it has to be done that way on platforms like Netflix because they're about entertaining, not education, but all of the Korean language learning channels, including this one, do the same thing. I would like to see all of the language learning platforms (UA-cam channels, online courses, mobile apps, etc.) change their English subtitles to the Korean SOV sentence structure so that we as Korean language learners can actually learn how to "think in Korean."

    • @StudyKoreanwithSol
      @StudyKoreanwithSol 4 дні тому

      Turn off the English subtitles then!People spend too much time comparing English and Korean. Instead, focus on Korean sentences after you’ve understood the meaning~ When I first started learning English, I couldn't grasp the sentence structure either because Korean and English are so different. I had to memorize patterns, just like I mentioned in the video. If you want to study with K-dramas, watch them with English subtitles first until you fully understand the plot. Then, turn off the subtitles and watch again with only Korean subtitles. Focus on understanding through the context and situation

    • @arka181
      @arka181 4 дні тому

      From a Japanese learner's perspective with the SOV order as well, I get more benefit with English subs now that I'm way more proficient in Japanese. At first, if I tried using English subs while listening to Japanese audio, my brain couldn't really link the two because the grammar is fundamentally different. Now if I choose to watch with English subs (which isn't often), I will almost instantly read the English, predict what the Japanese will sound like, and if there's a known English word that is unknown in Japanese, my brain can easily pick out the word in the sentence because I can tell what the phrase is saying and how it's supposed to sound minus that single unknown vocab. Definitely agree with turning off English subs though if you feel like you're not absorbing the Korean because the English is in the way. It really is all about "getting a feel" of what Korean sounds like after many hundreds and thousands of hours. If you can't understand the content at all without English subs, Sol's recommendation of rewatching the content after knowing the plot works extremely well. If you have enough context, your brain will just make the connections on its own. Super side note and probably applicable only to a small percentage of learners, but I like having Japanese subtitles on Korean shows because at least the SOV order lines up pretty well.
