Death Reigns - HCFF Teaser Trailer
Teaser Trailer originally made for and shown at the Hub City Film Festival for my upcoming film Death Reigns.
Death Reigns follows radio hosts and music promoters Raven Moonla and Zach Moonshine organized an underground metal music festival in small town Tennessee. In doing so, they became a target for outrage from religious fundamentalists and conservative politicians, as well as a rallying point for those outside of the Bible Belt’s suppressive culture. The film chronicles Zach and Raven’s Metal Devastation Festival, its impact, and triumph over the forces that attempted to silence it.

Aeon Flux works very well in animated form. Not everything needs a live action version. Some things are just ideal in animated form and should stay that way.

Love Death + Robots suuuuuucks. i hate ALL of them... Compared to Aeon Flux and The Maxx. those are shit drawings. you cant compare these 2 good animes to any other anime. because these were good Before its Time. which makes these animes Timeless. i dont hate anyone who likes those types of animes....buut maybe you should check out some more old school 90s animes Before considering watching any New new ones. then you can actually compare them

2:10 "I think it's a travesty that this show doesn't have a cult fanbse" - yes it does. It absolutely does. It's just that the meaning of "cult" got very muddled lately. By definition "cult" works of art are ones that are held in high regard by a small, select audience. I don't know why lately people insist on calling movies well known by everyone as "cult" ones. Like, "Tetsuo the Iron Man" is not a cult movie anymore. It used to be, but nowdays it's widely known and cited as influential for many genres and filmmakers. "Aeon Flux" BECAME a cult series, because initially it absolutely wasn't: it was really popular, lots of people knew about it due to MTV exposure, it got a live action version, and so on. But since then it fell into obscurity and is currently only known to animation enthusiasts. It has a cult following by definition. And let it stay this way. Nothing destroys cult works of art like the inflow of casual consumers does.

I watched this show when it originally aired (on Liquid Television I think) and even at a young age (10-12) I remember being sucked into the show, I watched every episode and was bummed when the show ended. It was so unique compared to other cartoon shows at the time.

I feel your pain, I really wish there was more serious and mature animation happening in the west other than Disney family movies and animated sitcoms. Sure we have anime, but it's always cloaked in Japanese culture and all has the same feel. It would be nice to see something from a different cultural perspective.

We have another sad fad to add to the list: caped crap. There's an influx of "adult" animated superhero content (movies, shows, webseries, etc) in later years.

My best suggestion for western animation is a show called Pantheon. I’ve been engaged with both western and eastern animation for a hell of a long time now, and this show has cemented itself as being one of my favorites. The show is viewable on Netflix for S1, and UA-cam for S2.

The fact that all animation style is so similar now is just truly sad. These talented creators are being robbed of any chance to truly reach their full potential at these modern studios. The 90s was the golden age of the perfect balance of Hollywood big budget and Indy influence of style and tone. The late 80s had some gems as well, but the 90s was packed with awesome, unique animation.

Sailor Moon ripped off Cutie Honey? If that’s the case why did the editors and execs constantly push her to change the manga? They would’ve had proof the series would work without fighting with the author on every single thing…or are were they delusional old men who thought they knew little girls better than a woman did lol Fr tho, I don’t think SM ripped off Cutie Honey. Even CH wasn’t “new” with all its tropes. When a revolutionary new idea comes along, they don’t invent everything. They usually introduce a few brand new ideas alongside the framework of already existing properties. Neither SM or CH is new to this haha

The same creator also did a very far out reimagining of alexander the great in a series called Reign: The Conqueror. For many of the same reasons it's one of the most amazing animated series ever created. It's quite hard to find, but if you can, it's an absolute gem.

Anime used to be what adult animation should looked like, cowboy bebop, eureka 7, trigun, ghost in the shell complex, and etc back in the early and late 2000s but now … let’s be honest it’s becoming more and more horse 💩 and I hope anime can redeem itself at some point .

As I dig further into the burgeoning adult animations of the 80's/90's, I gained a potent respect for what could have been if they have received the funding they desperately needed. I can only hope your video helps spread attention to these old gems.

It's not exceedingly rare at all if you just look. America has been producing its own anime/animated movies for decades. And if you thought this art style was unique, check out the pander brothers work in the grendel comic comic book from the 80's This show was great, but there is far more stuff out there, some of which predates aeon.
