Welcome to Matts Garage DIY. This channel is all about DIY projects, gear reviews/testing, gun repairs, camping, bush craft and survival on a budget. I started this channel at the beginning of COVID as a hobby and a way to share some of the interesting things I have learned or tried over the years. This channel, like most things continues to change and evolve based on my current projects, feedback, comments, and cool stuff that I find along the way. My mission is to provide step-by-step instructions so that you can do, test, and use many of these same ideas and products yourself, as well as giving straight forward and honest feedback on the products I use and try. All items or products used in my videos have been purchased by myself (much to Mrs. DIY’s displeasure), if this changes or I use an item given to me I will openly disclose that fact. Find links for many of the items in my videos, the good, the bad and the ugly.

THANX .. I am finishing a restore for a friend; his father gave him the gun and Florida storage got the best of it. The action is all that remains and your video saved the day!
I just got one to move left n right the left side of scope was all the way left n wouldnt move
Thanks for posting this! I was looking for this exact set of instructions, but my search kept pulling up paracord wraps over handles, not paracord handles...lesson learned!
Right on, very handy, I've made some rifle slings using the same idea. Works great!
Nije los za 38€ na akciji Lamnie 🤣🤣🤣
Also, thanks for the demo on the flammability of the cordage!
U bet!
Love it
Thanks! May look at doing an updated version this year with a 22/410 over under, but we will see how my time goes.
Have you shot the 22 lr through it does it shoot straight or does it wobble down the barrel and fall out or hard to tell where it goes????
Hey Richie, shoots not too badly, i can consistently hit a 6" gong at 30 yards. Its not the same grouping as shooting from a longer barrel but it is manageable. I think I would buy the 9" barrel insert if I were to do this again. I did have to spend a bit of time shooting it in the beginning to figure out where it hit, but that was in part because I made a peep sight for the shotgun and need to figure it out a bit. I have included a video link for making the peep sight. If you skip to the end of the video you can see some shooting results. Hope this helps. ua-cam.com/video/Yv-SSioj8F8/v-deo.html
Thanks
Well done sir! I will be trying this out on my canvas tarp asap. Thanks for the video
right on!
The carrier isn't engaging the shell stop. Is there a special way to install the lifter or carrier?
I did a separate video disassembling the rest of the shotgun, hopefully this will help. ua-cam.com/video/f_W9n029LzQ/v-deo.html
I own 4 SKS'S 2 YUGOSLAVIAN AND 2 CHINESE TO ME THESE FIREARMS CAN HANDLE WHAT EVER YOU THROW AT IT. AN THEY ARE EASY TO CLEAN. GREAT VIDEO
Thanks, hope you found it helpful. I agree, a very reliable firearm that just keeps going.
This will come in handy. An old, rusty and cheap model 31 may well be in my collection soon and its going to need a full takedown and conservation.
Nice! Sounds like a good project.
Great video!!! How did you achieve the silver color...is it repainted hi heat paint?
Yep that's exactly it, just simple hardware store high temp paint and it has help up really well to the heat.
TRIGGER GROUP NOT POPPING BACK IN,LITTLE BUTTON HAVING HARD TIME TO GO BACK THRU HOLE,OR? ANYTHING ELSE THAT MIGHT COME TO YOUR MIND. THANKS
A couple things to check first off. I found a couple times that I did not have the front end of the trigger assembly quite in the right spot where it hinges, even slightly out of place seemed to cause me issues. This actually can be compounded by the mag not being quite seated correctly, if I remember correctly the mag not being seated properly (at the front)was usually the cause of the trigger assembly then also not snapping in. Next, make sure you have the rifle on a firm surface when you slap the trigger assembly, don't just hold it with your other hand. Lay it on a bench or across your legs and give it a good whack. Third if the rifle has not been apart a lot or recently, oil the button and work it with a punch to make sure it is not binding or causing extra resistance. Let me know if this helps
make sure the safety is on
I got an order Marlin glenfield rifle it doesn't want to shoot the standard aguila
FPS is definitely on the low side of what is recommended for semi auto actions, I believe 1250 fps is in the the ideal range

Oven racks make awesome fire grates
great idea, never even thought of that....wonder if my wife would miss them :)
You can do it, man, and you don't dont need to weld style!
my spring seems to keep popping off the s hook any time i move the bolt. cant ssem to find anything that might be knocking off, maybe the spring is bad?
Hey matt, i hope you're well! Can you share the measurements/blueprint of the firing pin of this rifle, as I've lost the firing pin.
check Numrich Gunparts they have lots of pieces for older guns, definitely my go to. I just checked and they have firing pins in stock. www.gunpartscorp.com/gun-manufacturer/armscor/rifles-armscor/semi-auto-rimfire/squiresbing-16
@mattsgaragediy thank you very much for the reply. The website doesn't work in my country, forget about ordering something. Anyway thanks for showing concern. GOD BLESS!
@@Mr.muchacho07 Thank you!
Do they still make parts for this model. It was my granpas. It is mising trigger componets plunger/spring and pins.
Mine one's firing pin broke into two pieces and i lost half of it. The sad part is that i lost the rear end of it otherwise i would had built it on my own. Now i don't know what to do about it.
@Mr.muchacho07 i got in contact with Armscor and they sent me the parts diagram to order. I can send it to you if you want .
@@andresguerrero5330 yeah i do want it. Gracias hermano!

Man if you threw some shotgun primers and black powder you could always muzzle load your shotgun with miscellaneous shot.
👍🏻
Hi Matt my dad's gun didn't have a spring or plunger, so it just flops fwd n back, how many coils are on that spring?
Hey, 10 coils on the spring. I include a link for Numrich gun parts. Part number 6 is the spring, current out of stock but gives a good close up view.
oops for the link, here you go www.gunpartscorp.com/gun-manufacturer/winchester/shotguns-win/840-win
I got one I just need to trim it to size thanks
Oh I'll use a nail trimmed down for a plunger, does it go in the fry or the bottom of the bore?
@@joesezzz4324 Goes in from the bottom....Plunger end towards the bottom, on the video I show a clip with the pieces laid out with the proper orientation. Hope that helps
Every time I put the springs back in my bolt gets stuck and I can’t pull the charging lever.
I had a similar problem, bolt kept getting jammed when I worked the charging level. There is a small horizontal pin (about 8mm long) that had worn and was sliding sideways in the rebound level. I made a new pin and put it in with Loctite and that has fixed the problem for me. Yours might be caused by something else but worth checking, I took this gun apart probably 6 times before I figured out that was the case of the jamming. Here is a link for a diagram...part 52 is what I am talking about, if you then look up part 52 you can see the small pin I'm talking about. www.gunpartscorp.com/gun-manufacturer/armscor/rifles-armscor/semi-auto-rimfire/squiresbing-1600
What kind of shotgun is this?
Cooey 84
my bolt wont go all the way back to rack it
Have you unscrewed the cap on the back of the bolt/spring. Possibly assembled wrong??? has it been like this as long as you owned it or new problem?
Thank you
Welcome!
On the back of the action assembly what is the tan nylon piece called?? Mine is busted.
I believe the part you are talking about is called the "buffer" should be lots of options out there, I think some people even 3d print replacement ones hope that helps
I had a go with my stove but it didn't hold pressure beyond a few seconds, and also it leaked from the tank filling hole. I've tried but can't seem to fix it. The pump, taking it apart, seems too basic for the system to hold pressure. But yours works, so I'll try again.
Ya, that seems strange I don't want to over simplify but here's a couple things to check. O ring gasket replacement, check for possible cross thread or damaged threads, also burrs in the area where the O-ring seats that may be cutting or damaging the seal.
Thank you for your informations. I'll them soon !!
Hi. The stove comes with a long wick. When you cleaned out that pipe was there anything in it like a wick, please?
Hi, no wick in the tube, I did add some fine copper wire to help with heating. I believe what you are describing is actually graphite rope, which is used to repack the seal in in the jet / flame adjustment knob.
Great video had a problem and the thing u made worked for mine
Awesome, glad to hear that.
Thanks for making this video
Welcome!👍
Excellent.
Thanks
Where can I purchase the trigger assembly screws?
Numrich gun parts, here a link www.gunpartscorp.com/gun-manufacturer/marlinglenfield/rifles-marlin/60-new-model
Used this video to take the gun apart and crimped the poor recoil spring 90 degrees. Still put her together and it’s running like a champ.
Excellent!
Excellent video. Thanks
Easier to slide the front of the trigger group up and into the reciever before the back👌🏻 nice video👍🏻
Perfect, thanks for the tip
What about Res taking the cartridge bar ?
Great vid, thank you
Very welcome, hope you found it helpful
Fire ribbon works better for preheating.
Interesting, I've never tried it but will have to check it out
Great video. Thanks for sharing. I'm definitely going to try this with my hessian tarp. All the best 🙂👍
Thanks, good luck with the project. I just checked out your mini axe video. Great channel
Really appreciate you doing this! Had similar ideas and you just made it seem absolutely doable. Thank you so very much. Very well thought out and practical.
You bet! Very doable, if you leave the very back panel alone and just make the front support by the seating area a bit longer that will make it even simpler, I squeezed out an extra 3/4", but initially I didn't realize i would still have to add some extra support. Good luck and shoot me a msg if you have any questions as you go.
Very nice!
Thanks!
Excellent video. I currently use the wazoo cache belt. High price but high quality as well. The top opening allows easy item access while wearing.
Ya top opening would be a nice touch, i will have to take a look at it. Great gear on that site.
You mentioned you had to mess with the bolt mine won’t closed all the way what did you do
move the bolt forward and backward while tripping the trigger thru the square hole
You mentioned you had to mess with the bolt mine won’t closed all the way what did you do
Hey Andrew, I had a very worn out cross pin, I believe it is called the sear pin. It was too short on one side and getting caught inside the bottom of the groove in the bolt. It almost looks like a chrome wire, similar to some of the pins that go though the trigger assembly. I ended up making a new one and playing around with the length a bit. If I remember correctly it needed to be about 8mm long in total and exactly centered. I did put some Loctite on it as well as it wanted to slide side to side and as soon as off center it would jamb again. Very frustrating process, would cycle well by hand but as soon as I put rounds through it it would jamb again. Eventually got the right length and not sliding around, works better now then it ever has. Hope this helps.
My bolt is not going in all the way
i figured out the problem... pause the video at 22:55 and see where he points his finger. theres an opening he is pointing at and you will see its a part of the trigger.. i dont know if yours will say it as well but mine says "Trip" on it. you will see in the opening on the trigger part theres a little hole. put something like a needle through it and push it to the left as the gun is on the video. when you push it to the left slide the bolt in and it will go in all the way.
Thank you for the video. Im going yo habe to find a different video though because being the genius i am i took the assembly apart without putting a blocker in for the timy rectangle piece that has about 4000lbs of pressure on it. But i got it back together now, I'll still have to take it apart because i have thors spring on the wrong side.
