great comment! yes pretty amazing time for them and super fun to get to watch them have fun playing roller!

The wiffle is the best handling ball we've ever used! no bounce, no squishyness, moves super fast, it rewards good hands. plus it doesn't hurt too bad when you block them without pads. there has been lots of development in pucks, green biscuit roller pucks work great on concrete, but you have to pad up significantly more to play a 'real' game with it. our surfaces are rough and playing with any puck outside makes the game worse. in our opinion.

By the way, One of my shifts started at 6 am. I was pissed at the scheduler because they were 6 and7 year olds. I show up and it was crazy. Almost all the goals had 2 assists. The kids were insane, and you wouldn't know their age until one of the squeaky voiced kids called for the puck Might have reffed Conner in that tourney....lol j/K but for sure I've reffed a lot of elites. Many roller kids are ice players these days. The Czech National team back in the day played as much roller as they did Ice. A little history, The first metal Chassis in the usa was made by Scott Acongio (AKS) He's like family. I worked for the Labedas when inline first started as a pro speedskater, Ran their factory for 6 years before that. Curt decided to make metal chassis with speedskating tech and charged $250 just for the chassis. Nobody thought it would work, who would pay that? (Everyone) He ended up making a deal with Mission to licence his name as long as they bought wheels from Labeda. That deal went south, but the cat was out of the bag and every skate company had metal chassis. Its funny, Canadas known for ice hockey, but southern California's known for inline and roller manufacturing. Its kind of validating to see great NHL players playing on tech, I was a part of developing.

@@coasthockeyshop The owner used to have a small 3 on 3 rink in his high end office chair factory that was also a church for his employees. HE ended up having 8 teams at a local ice and roller facility called "side by side" The guy was a legit business man. (Ken Gibo) He actually upgraded Side by side with tempered glass on the roller side, probably one of the first legit roller facility with tempered glass. The floor there was hardwood which sucked for the puck but skating? Holy shit I could scare people. HE saw the limitations and was a control freak so he opened his own place and killed it. "The OC Blades" is the roller org he started out of his rink. At one time his son was the number one roller player at Narch. All of his sons were doing Michigans before the Michigan actually happened. lol The Ducks bought all the Orange county roller facilities. I wasn't a fan of that but it happened. I believe the demise of C2C was because of that.

along the seawall there are minimal hills... I'm only thinking of one slope after Brockton Point Lighthouse.. but it's quite smooth, long runway.. but sometimes pedestrians crossing. overall quite flat, beautiful path!

Roller leagues are different all over NA and it's different in general from ice. Notably less contact, no offsides or icing. No blue lines, idk if you could tell. 5v5. It's like ice but just less intense i'd say. Dudes with great puck handling can kill it in roller because they can deke and dangle all day and nobody is gonna put them on their ass. Good way to keep your skills up if you're offseason for ice.

Yeah all we had growing up for roller in South Florida were shitty outdoor concrete rinks. Puck did NOT glide like it does on this rink, not that we could pass it like these guys if we were on ice anyways...
