Taking an over mature and very poor condition beach tree down to a standing stem, so it was much safer next to the house. The stem was retained for habitat so it can decay naturally.
The easy way to do it

Removal of a line of leyland cypresses trees along the back of a house. Poor access meant the best way was to get help of the Merlo Roto from a fellow company to help us out. In and out in a day with a 4 man team.

Part 1 of a large removal of a Monterey Cypress and Pine from the rear garden of a property. The Monterey Cypress was believed to be suffering from the pathogen called Phytophthora causing canopy dieback and large branch breakage. The decision was made after the condition of the tree was becoming worse and concern from damage to the house. The pine behind it was also removed due to the poor sha...

Felling leylandii trees near power lines

Demo Week - Ditch Witch SK800, Cast Loader 33TLX and Vermeer S925TX Skid Steer.
Переглядів 7 тис.4 роки тому
On a recent church yard clearance job from earlier in the year we tried out a few skid steers and loaders to see which one to buy. After selling our old small skid steer last year we are in need of a replacement. We had about equal time with each but unfortunately did not get much footage of using the Ditch Witch. So which one did we go for? Any thoughts on these machines? A review will follow ...
Felling Fun - removal of three large trees

A throwback to the wet weather of Autumn 2019 when we felled two large acacias and one large holly tree in a large garden. The trees were all leaning backwards towards the neighbours property so hard to be winched over. They were being removed due to poor condition of them and a new building was going to be put up in the garden. Our little skid steer tank saved the day and got all the timber ou...

Larching About

A little climb the other day taking out this small larch. Opted to play with a little speedlining again to save the new lawn, otherwise we would have felled the tree. All in all it only took us a few hours to complete.

Crane Day! - Huge old oak tree removal by crane.
Переглядів 11 тис.5 років тому
On a hot day in July we removed a large oak tree that had to come down due to large basal decay. Using a crane allowed us to get the tree down in a day and bring the timber down in large enough sections to be milled into usable timber. A great job well done with help from the whole crew.
Let there be light - Part 4

Part 4 of a large garden clearance from spring 2018. This video includes all the days when we got onto felling lots of trees so I thought I would make a compilation of them all. We were only removing all the damaged, dangerous and low value trees from the garden ready for building and landscaping works to being. I can say master tree faller Tom was in his element on this job.

    Good one 👏👏 I hate those trees with a passion 🌲 my heart always bleeds for my saws if having to lumber them on the ground, I just wish a hole would open up in the ground, swallow them and magically cover over. 😂👍

    Top! 🌲😎👍 Ich hätte allerdings lieber das Video in Echtzeit gesehen, ohne (nervige) Musik (schliesslich hat jeder Mensch einen anderen Musikgeschmack 😉) und mit Arbeitsgeräuschen der benutzten Geräte. 🤷 Aus Erfahrung (durch viel Ansehen von Gartenvideos bei YT) weiss ich, dass die meisten User lieber längere Videos mit Original Sounds ansehen. Solche Videos bekommen auch mehr Likes, Kommentare und mehr Abbonennten. Letztlich endlich kommt es deinem YT Kanal zugute. 😉🌲🌼

    Good stuff. I see you're crossing your lanyard to choke the spar, however it looks like there might be chance of interference with your ART positioner. Here's a trick I learned, that when tied in with your lanyard, you can tie a prusik (3 finger), or a sewed thimble loop on one side of the lanyard, connect a carabiner to the prusik, and clip in the far side of the lanyard (making a bridge). Voila! Adjustable cinch that is very helpful. Perhaps not applicable in this climb if you are concerned about the tree failing, but might be helpful otherwise. Climb safe.

    • @fincharb
      @fincharb 3 роки тому

      Thanks that is a great tip! I was crossing the lanyard here to help prevent me swinging one way or the other as much on the leaning stem.

    Nicely done. I hate dead beeches. We did one here in Germany before Xmas from a caterpillar platform, we also used the winch technique to pull the stem over. Endless heavy weight and a lot of dodgy big branches and cordwood. The more control you have over your working position the better I find.

    To be fair to the groundman here, that was a big top and a tall thin pole..unless it was perfectly rigged, with no obstructions, there would always be some movement, It looked like you both handled it without too much stress. Best of a difficult situation .

    Depends on wether you want to sit in or stand on machine. I like the stand on machines with 360° unobstructed view and the ease of getting off and on the machine. But I really like how the arms extend on the Ditch Witch but I would have to go with the Vermeer. If you get the SK1050 from Ditch Witch that would solve your problems.

    • @fincharb

    • @fincharb
      @fincharb 3 роки тому

      Went for the Vermeer in the end. Price and finance was very good. Can lift a bit more than the ditch witch too. The Ditch Witch was the better machine though, better built and good features. The next size up would be good. The cast loader was ok but felt cheap and tacky. Mini loaders are not my preferred machine really, easy to tip over and slower to use.

    • @NFAtoys
      @NFAtoys 3 роки тому

      @@fincharb I agree with the choice of the Vermeer, especially when you can get a 40 HP gasoline engine option in the SX925tx that ups the power and lifting capability to almost that of the CTX100. One more thing, the Vermeer grapple is Ok, but for serious tree work you're better off with a Branch Manager 56″ T1010 BMGR with powered rotation. www.branchmanagerusa.com/shop/rotating-grapples/bmgr/

    • @fincharb

    Keep in mind that Ditch Witch machines only have two auxiliary hydraulic couplings (High and Low flow) on their very High End machines. Vermeer has both on all but their very basic model machines. This can be important if you're using attachments that have both a motor and a cylinder, and you don't want the hassle of using electric switching to power both; which can't be done if you need to use both at the same time.
