What rear gear?
4.30s
God loves a 100 shot.
Hi. Great to the point content. A few questions. 1- what was peak rpm? 2- past peak hp, did you run it further and if so, how aggressive was the hp fall-off? 3- last question. I read the parts list. Was it a used engine? Any added clearance for rings, bearings, pistons(stock oe, forged, or or??etc etc.) Thanks again.
What front bumper is that
It's fiberglass. Idk it came with the truck. Been looking for something similar to buy new but can really find anything. Possibly off a body as well
I have been building my 1998 extneded cab s10 for last couple years ....was my daily for years parked it for about 5 years ....298k on a 4.3 still holds 60lbs oil pressure....and have about 50k on a rebuilt trans ....but i so want to put a 5.3 in it....would have to do a junkyard engine swap ....just wonder if it can be done for 5k i have never swap an engine with electronics ....just small block chevy in old 71 c10 i had years ago ....and i didnt build engine just swaped it ....should i try it ...and if so what advice would you have ?
Thanks for Watching! If you turn wrenches yourself you should be able to get it done for $5k. If you get a junkyard 5.3, they almost always need cam bearings. Usually the rods and mains look pretty good. So I’d plan on at least doing cam bearings, put a new dog bone in the rear oil gallery, new oil pickup o-ring and it should have good oil pressure just like your 4.3!
Great informative video thanks for sharing your knowledge….
BTW what rear end and gears were you running..?
Thank You for watching! The S-10 has a stock 7.5” rear end with 3.73 gears. The owner does not expect it to last long at the drag strip. He does have a 9” rear he’s building to replace it.
New subscriber here, thanks for bringing us along and sharing your information..
That ought to make that s-10 scoot pretty good
Nice! What cam is in this thing and fuel system?
Thanks, the cam was an XR273HR-112 and it was using a single Bosch 044 fuel pump.
Nice power from that combo
That's one hell of a go cart
Never give up the four speed. BTW, check out the Clutch Tamer. You'll be surprise how much it drops your ET. Great job.
Rises up out of the hole.Pretty to watch. Really healthy motor....
Right on, nice job driving. Unreal what an old truck motor is capable of these days. And idles like a kitten
Awesome Cobra Bro!
11.9 and the LS foxbody walked right on by
Fox is a turbo car. If it didn’t outrun an NA car on shakedown passes, he’d prob need to list it for sale. Also, I’m not sure what motor was in the fox, could be a Windsor.
@@DynoandDragyChannel Pay no mind to the trolls. Kickarse car you got there. 3 pedals is always funner than 2. It the joy of nailing that perfect shift, challenging and fun. 11 sec st car is very respectable!! Keep at it. Noobs dont know it can take many runs and suspension tweaks to get a working car.
If you're running the factory traction-lok....change to the carbon fiber clutch packs and use a spring from a 90's f250
Yea, he is going to rebuild it. I typically pull out one of the steels, use an extra friction and alternate the steels/frictions then use the Truck Spring. That combo has always worked well for me.
@@DynoandDragyChannel no doubt.
I dont know where youre shifting but my guess is close to 7k. Without some work to the internals the TKO won't like to shift past 6k rpm. I had to use the carbon fiber faced blocking rings, file every other tooth off, and change to solid pads on the shift forks. Eventually I face-plated it. I like shifting past 8k.
You are right, the motor wants to be shifted around 7k and the TKO is not interested. Did you see much difference grinding every other tooth off? Did you grind it off the gear itself, the slider, the blocker ring, or some combination of the 3? Also, if you see the blue LS swapped mustang in on of my earlier videos, it has a faceplated TKO that is still laying around, we kicked around the idea of throwing that in the 65’ to see what we can make it do.
@@DynoandDragyChannel off the brass blocking ring and the gear. The slider was left unmodified. Combined with the solid shift fork pads i was no lift shifting up to 7k much easier(still broke two cases). I switched to a 3 pad 3 - 4 shift fork and using the clutch shifts up to 7k were easily managed. There are these "gates" that the pivot ball of the shifter select which rod to actuate for 1-2 and 3-4....I had to upgrade those and install new roll pins. I can't remember the company where I sourced all this stuff from. D&D maybe...idk, but there was a write-up covering upgrades to the TKO's. They encourage you to ship it in, but after 20+ years of building and breaking these I'm comfortable going through them. I like these transmissions, but the TKX does shit nicer and easier at 7k.
@@DynoandDragyChannel Call Anaheim gear in Socal they work those trans all the time to get good clean shifts before taking it on yourself.
keep the trash Ls’s out of mustangs!!!!
That’s one cool hotrod 😎
😂😂😂😂🎉🎉🎉🎉
Oh my gosh 😂😂😂
picked up on each pass! that's a good day!
Sweet Stang Dude, It definitely is badass. 👍🏻
Great rwhp numbers for a NA small cubic inch engine. Question: Did you guys look at afr nuumbers when you uncorked the headers? Would have expected more than a 3hp gain. Nice car!
I was also surprised the mufflers didn’t kill more power than they did. I was logging AFR during all those pulls. Don’t remember if there was much difference from the earlier pulls.
Nice paint job
Forged? 11Rs? I think that lil guy is ready for some nitrous!
Definitely!
Go on the last yellow, not on green
Beautiful car
how not to do it? Do have enough power for low 12's
Didn’t watch the whole video? It went 11.9 with plenty of issues. It actually has enough power for low 11s. Stick around and we’ll have vids of it once more stuff is lined out. 👍
Is that Gary Busey in the car? 😂
Hahaha, yes. He dynoed this car around the time he was filming Point Break. Watch the video where Gary takes it to the track. ua-cam.com/video/kciGSxJmF9M/v-deo.htmlsi=RjFlQKSTYNxaQBFr
Got a chance to to drive friends 67 fastback 351 Cleveland 2.75 gears . Never got past 2nd gear
What transmission does it have?
4R70w with a manual valve body and trans brake.
That’s probably about 400 hp at the crank, taking into account the parasitic losses in the drivetrain at a conservative 15%. Nice build- good combination.👍🏻
Dam that hits the tires hard on launch! Looking good! I have a carbarated 5.3 in a Gbody I'm trying for cam only as well!
My Skip White 383 is pushing 200+ more HP than that...Dart block, AFR200 heads, scat crank,wiseco10:1, comp cam 236/242-520/540, Brawler750 carb In 87square body💪💪👍
Nice, I’ve been thinking about a skip white 383 rotating assembly for my Vette.
Do it, they have best components available for whatever stage u want to go...i goy the stage 3 w the most HP, biggest cam...well over 500hp...can see my motor dyno run on UA-cam, its my name skip white dyno run... You will be very happy with chatting with the service staff can answer any of ur questions. Good luck👍
I love to row the gears as much as anyone but I learned the hard way if drag racing is your thing a well built C4 with a well set up converter like a PTC in your case about a 3200-3500 is much more consistent easier to hook and will provided faster ET’s. Sweet car and it’s got a lot left in it.
Wonder what the Performed RPM AG would do for the torque and power curve?
Would add some mid range power and torque for sure
That Victor Jr. doesn’t really give up much, if any, power. It just moves the torque curve up the RPM band, and will generally make more of it too, albeit at a higher RPM. It will definitely make more on the top, especially with the better heads and bigger cam. If you doubt what I say, watch Engine Masters’ episode where they swap out the Perfomer RPM Air Gap for a Victor Jr. and pick up over 20hp and gain more peak torque (although higher in the RPM band) for a 351W build they did.
@@leosun8469 I used the Vic Jr. on my 351W build back in 1999
With 3.42 gears and a super tall 28" tire I'm surprised it ran so well. I'd suggest going down to a 275/40-17 or 315/35-17 drag radial. The diameter is a stubby 25.67". I'm on a 295/35-18 which is 26.18" tall; however, I'm running 3.73 gears and my car is a lot lighter so I've had a best time of 11:30 @ 124 MPH. I'd also suggest changing over to a 3" main tube after your Y-Pipe. Good Luck, Stay Safe & Happy Wrenching!
Nice.
Where's the support from blue print whennshit goes bad. Go zz6 all day
It’s doing about what it should, all things considered. Has a single 2.5 crush bent exhaust.
Would love to see more of the 97 cobra
Yes, me too. Lol. I need to start working on it again.
Had Waylon used a lighter rotating assembly and shut the alternator off at wot.....he'd seen 400rwhp. I ran an old Mexican block this way from 2000 to 2005ish. Ditched the DSS slugs for a custom set of JE's and a Bill Miller aluminum rod, still stock crank(for a little while), and wot cut out for the field to the alternator.....435rwhp at 7k. Miss those days. My 93 Cobra has been laid up too long.
Nice, I’ve always loved 93 cobras. Probably should have bought one of those instead of my 97 cobra back when the 93s were affordable.
@@DynoandDragyChannel the prices some clowns want though....🤦♂️
Eh....but cutting the alternator off at WOT is free in most cases. The SRP Pro, MAHLE, and JE are the lightest off the shelf units(in ascending order of price) I've used. $700 - $1k with rings. The Eagle and Molnar H-beam rods come in a lightweight version for $750ish. SCAT's 9000 cast crank is lighter than a stock crank(last time I used one anyway), and runs around $300 maybe.....so $2k for a lightweight build on a budget.🤷♂️
@Dyno and Dragy Channel. Could you please tell me what Shorty headers you are using? I just bought a blueprint brand engine, but confused on which shorty headers will work with my third GEN Camaro. With the raised exhaust ports .500”. Does the port shape really matter I assume it does flow? Rectangle ports on head
Hey Steve, I’m not sure what brand shorty headers he had on the Camaro. But I would suggest getting a nice set of long tube headers instead. They will make more power and torque.
@@DynoandDragyChannel thanks!
Tuff Windsor in an early Mustang doesn't get much better would run a better time with a trick auto
Thanks! We are hoping it’ll get down in the mid/low 11s with suspension work, 4.56s and getting the trans to reliably shift at 7000 rpm. That may mean getting a TKX.
@DynoandDragyChannel If you are going to bracket race. Just sell that manual trans and put a TCI trans in it, transbrake, if you want to run that class, and a TCI converter about 4000 stall with that much cam. It will be quicker everywhere.
Nice I had the same problem with the trac lock went to a spool Fixed everything
Which hp rating was this from blueprint?
Hell yeah keep it up
Thanks buddy!
Lost a little time at the starting line. Nice running car.
Damn, have a similar setup in an s10. Dual plane, HEI, 3" exhaust, th350. But otherwise the same. Handful on the street. Havent been to the track yet.
