I'm trying to turn all the Climate control stuff fully off sometimes when driving, but I notice it always shows the little "mode" icon lit up no matter if all climate things are off (airflow direction icon). Is that just how it is even when fully off? .....that icon is just always on?

Excellent video. You are spot on with the first oil change around 500 miles. The material in the oil is a combination of metal alloy from break-in and casting sand from foundry and grit from machining surfaces of the block etc. You can clearly see this in the filter element. As an engineer I have used an oil and filter change at 500/1,000/2,000 then every 4,000 after that. May sound excessive but if you plan to drive it 100k, oil and filters up front will extend the engine life significantly. $200 in oil and filters is a great investment especially when you are providing the labor. Well done!

That's my question when you said 21F/B. I thought Toyota went further cheap with a thinner oil pan. By the way, it looks like Toyota/Lexus use the 2.4 turbo across the board on almost all models. Whether you buy a Lexus RX350, TX, Land Cruiser, Highlander, they all end up with the same engine. Basically you just buy a different shell with the same gut in it.

I hate all the new vehicles use thin ass shitty oil I’m curious to see if these new vehicles hit 300k from what I understand that thin ass oil is for mpg boost but from what I’ve experienced motors leak sooner and consume more oil past 100k than thicker oil motors. I wonder if it has to do with low zinc I’m not a oil expert just a guy who can swap engines trans anything heads down and notice these thin oils leak easier on older engines
