Hi, I am Noah Quezada, a registered dietitian nutritionist and owner of Noah's Nutrition. Great question, and thank you for clarifying. And you are 50% right. You want to avoid highly processed grains. Cakes, cookies, pizza, white bread-these types of foods are high in calories and low in overall nutritional value (vitamins, minerals, and fiber). On the other hand whole grain product like Bran Flakes and whole grain bread (NOT: cornflake's and bread) are going to provide you with, fiber, iron, magnesium, manganese, phosphorus, potassium, selenium, and zinc, and vitamins B and E.
I love this but also... did you have to go around touching all the food I'm the grocery store and putting it back? Like it's not terrible but it makes me very uncomfortable for some reason 😂

Lean, lean and lean... Your body needs fatty meat sources.. And it's way better to go with whole dairy if at all.. And fuck the grains whole or not they are rubbish.. I know you mean well and seem to be a good person. This is just critique to your advice not to you as a human.. Healthy fats are essential for our bodys. The high carb content causes hunger attacks for most people...
Thanks for your feedback! You’re right-your body does need essential fats, but they come from omega-3s and omega-6s, not saturated fats. Eat more fish and plants, less full-fat dairy, and less red meat. Whole grains provide several nutrients, including fiber, which supports digestion and lowers disease risk. Skipping them is your choice, but it’s worth noting that low fiber intake is linked to higher rates of colorectal cancer, now the #1 deadliest cancer for men 20-49 and #3 for women. As for ‘high carbs causing hunger attacks,’ that idea is based on the carb-insulin model of obesity, which has been debunked.

I've never seen that website tool before, that's really helpful! I wish there were better definitions than "light walking," "medium walking," because I'm not entirely sure what that means. Is it spot on in regards to the weight loss projection?
That website is great and I am glad you found it helpful. I totally agree, it is hard. In most cases, I like to suggest that people choose the higher range of calories and then increase their physical activity. Because let's be honest who doesn't want to eat more :) I know I do. And we know getting more physical activity is good for us so it's kinda a win win.
I lost 18 kgs / 39 lbs doing OMAD. No macro counting or weighing anything. The key was to find what would sustain me for 23 hours without kcal intake. NEAT, with resistance training WHICH IS A MUST and no specific cardio was done. It worked for me - but there is no guarantee it would work for anyone else. When tracked which was rare - my intake comprised of 60% fat and 20% each from carbs and Protein.
Crushing it! Some people find that OMAD it a really easy way for them to control kcal intake. Did you have a hard time with the 23 hours? Or did you have a hard time getting all your food within that one hour? Thats what I think I would struggle with.
@@noahquezadardn I found it easy, and what surprised me the most, was how much kcal I could eat in an hour. No doubt it helped that 60% came from fats, large portions of that from nuts and seeds. I guess the bottom line is.... Each of us needs to find what works BEST for us as an individual.

Brilliant timing for your video, great advice that lines up with the rest of my research. I have a question: I weigh 150.6 lbs (10 stone 10.6 lbs) My rough BMI is 22.7 My first goal is: 11 stone, so I'm adding 3.8 lbs 17.7 BMI so loose 5 How long is a good time frame of that? 5 times a week I do 108 push ups min 108 sit up min 100 squats min 2 times a week I'm easing into weights with 5kg all over for arms and shoulders (I'll add in cardio next month) My diet is vedge, protein and fruit and full fat or Greek yogurt.
Thank you! "How long is a good time frame of that?" 11 stone, so I'm adding 3.8 lbs --- 0.5-1lb per week of weight gain so about 4-8 weeks for this goal. (With your current diet and routine) 17.7 BMI so loose 5 -- Going from a healthy BMI of 22 to a clinically underweight BMI of 17.7 is not something I can suggest you do! Let me know?

Great point! Yes I agree, you def don't want to eat a ton of junk food. What I am insinuating is that terms like clean eating do not carry any weight. You have nutrient dense foods (calories+vitamins, minerals, fiber ...) and calorie dense foods that lack nutrients and they both have their place.

Is there no real way to know how many calories you need per day? You just have to go off the average and tweak it one way or another based on losing and gaining weight?
When it comes to figuring out how many calories you need each day, think of it as starting with a best guess. Factors like your age, weight, how active you are, and your gender all play a role in this guess. Tools like the Harris-Benedict equation give us a good starting point by estimating your daily calorie needs based on these factors. However, everyone's body is different due to genetics and medical conditions, which can change your calorie needs. Plus, your daily activity can vary, affecting how many calories you burn. So, while these equations give us a ballpark figure, the best way to know for sure is by tracking. If you keep a record of what you eat and your weight for a couple of weeks, you'll see how your body responds to different calorie levels. This can help you adjust your intake to either lose, maintain, or gain weight, depending on your goals. It's a bit of trial and error, but it allows you to customize your diet to fit your unique needs.

I meal plan every Sunday. I made a video on my process for meal planning. A quick summary I use the notes app on my phone to brainstorm. Then, I use Cronometer to make sure I am hitting my macros and nutrient goals.
