White Peak - Miller's Dale to Peak Forest
A walk in an area I've wanted to explore for years. It's not one of the honey pot areas just quintissential Peak District limestone scenery.

Cotswold Walk - Sapperton, Pinbury Park and Gloucester Beeches
Переглядів 50421 день тому
I'd hoped this was going to be one of those sparkling bright mornings but as I approached the beginning of this walk I ran into mist, which ended up giving an atmospheric walk in this lovely area. Unfortunately it clouded up later so it's quite a short one.
Cotswold Walk - Naunton, the Windrush Valley and the Slaughters
Переглядів 3,3 тис.Місяць тому
A pleasant stroll from just outside Bourton-on-the-Water, along the Windrush valley to Naunton then over the hills to the Slaughters. Didn't do much filming in the Slaughters as it's full of tourists as usual (can't complain too much, I'm one of them!) and the sun refused to come out from behind a cloud so the light wasn't so good.
Good Weather in the Hoher Tauern

The one good day in a week of bad weather (looks like it's turning into a month of bad weather looking at the webcams). The snow conditions didn't lend themselves to climbing any peaks but it did look spectacular.

Didn't get lucky in the Alps on this trip, nevertheless, still managed to do some nice wet, or indeed snowy, walks.
Talybont Skyline

A walk around the head of the Talybont Valley. Starting at the reservoir and heading up Allt Lwyd, around the rim of the Caerfanell cwm, over the Torpantau road and over the low hills at the valley head to finish on Tor Y Foel.
Cotswold Walk - Chedworth and Yanworth

An MTB ride round the green lanes (one actually named "Green Lane") from Parsley Hey in the White Peak.
Kentmere Skyline

An overnighter round the Kentmere horseshow from Sadgill at the end of Longsleddale in the Lakes. Superb weather, starting at about 5.30pm meant I had the best of the evening light and the best of the morning light.
Beacons Outlier - Twyn Disgwllfa
Переглядів 845 місяців тому
A visit to the relatively untrodden low hills to the north of the Usk Valley west of Brecon and south of Mynydd Eppynt. The ridge doesn't really have a name but the high point of Twyn Disgwllfa is mentioned on the OS map. Stunning views of the South Wales Hills.

The first good weather day in the hills for a good while. Took advantage for a trip over the Carmarthen Fan.
Highest Wiltshire - Milk Hill and Tan Hill
Переглядів 877 місяців тому
Not really very high but the highest point in Wiltshire at 295m is Milk Hill in the Marlborough Downs. It's neighbour, Tan Hill is only 1m lower. Ever the romantics, Milk Hill is marked nearby by a grounded rail tank - n-i-c-e... This is a walk visiting both hills on a beautiful morning with incoming weather for the afternoon. Another big sky day.
Barbury Castle
Переглядів 897 місяців тому
A walk around the Marlborough Downs from Hackpen Hill, past Barbury Castle, down to Rockley and back up through the sarsen stones of Fyfield Down to the Ridgeway and back to the start. Pretty windy day which meant lots of big skies.
Winter Visits the Black Mountains
Переглядів 738 місяців тому
That rarest of things, snow covered Black Mountains. I hadn't anticipated it at all and assumed it would be just a dusting of snow that would melt off by lunchtime. No, it was full-on, drifting snow, about 2 feet deep over the tops! Very tiring for an old fart like me to wade through but very spectacular. It's amazing how snow can transform even the modest Black Mountains into something magical...

Thanks, it was a beautiful walk I enjoyed a lot. Simply nice, beautiful and quite.
There is no bad weather 😁 there are always great views and nature walk!
Wonderful video, just what I needed at a time like this when I'm either indoors at home or at work.
Thanks for sharing calm beautiful walk in countryside 👍! Support and Subscribe 🔔 from Vyrij
Hello! Walks in the morning are always so peaceful and full of hope 💚🤍
The Cotswold Walk scenery is so beautiful. Greetings from Germany 🥨
It's really beautiful and very pleasant, natural friends, beautiful and comfortable for all of us
Beautiful landscape. Thank you. Greetings from Ireland☘️
Thanks Rosemary.
that was so relaxing thanx for sharing 😊❤
Enjoying this from a cottage in France Lynch. Hoping to be able to find the path and do this walk later today before we have to leave this lovely place. If you find this and can reply with details, I wold so appreciate it!
Hi, if you find the Kings Head pub and head down Lynch Road then Sturmes Road, you're about halfway along the route. If you follow that down to Keble Road then Coppice Hill and pick up the tiny lanes on the right that go down to Lower Chalford High Street, you can then turn left and follow it along on the route of the video. Sorry it's a bit difficult to give a whole route description on a YT comment! There's a wealth of delightful little paths and alleyways in that area so even if you don't find that exact route, you'll still have a nice walk. Good luck and hope you enjoy it
@@hillsthings4077 oh, thank you so much! Was hoping to get to the wilder, greener bits and that they aren’t too far away. It just rained so everything will be a bit slippery. Thank you again. 🌿
Such a great place for explorer. The Cotswold Walk scenery is so beautiful. Thank you for sharing. I am enjoying the video. Have a wonderful weekend 👍👍
أماكن خضراء رائعة..! شكرآ لك 💫👏🏼✨
It’s just look lovely like where I live ,the Perche,in Normandie, twin sister country, except that war II caused so much destruction there is less old houses in some villages so throughly bombed
Beautiful place
Lovely video.
Had to mute the music before I could watch.
Say "the North of Wales" please. We're a country, not a region. Thanks.
Is it real? like a dream of Heaven! Thank you! ❤
Stumbled on to you. Fantastic
Lovely to see this route - it must be 20+ years since I did almost the same circuit - I started though at the road just north of Ystradfellte (Fan Llia CP) and did Fan Nedd 1st and then finished off on that long barren track between Penwyllt & Sarn Helen. Anyone I know who has walked that path comes away with the sense of wilderness so in that respect you are not on your own. I was wondering if you was going to pass Maen Madoc - I took a friend there a few months ago as he had never seen it - we spent a few hours wanddering the limestone outcrops south of this before wandering along. I was surprised how defined the path was leading up to the Fan Nedd ridge.. it wasn't like that many years ago . Love that view from the cairn looking down into what people affectionaly call the Lorna Doone Valley (it was filmed there back in the 90ts) Blaen Senni. Last time I was up Fan Ghyhirych was a few years ago when me and some mates walked up in the snow - short video on my channel - the summit is a bit bland but that view of the north side is a cracker. Really enjoyed watching this.. thanks for sharing. atb Alan
11.19mins into the video where exactly is this spot on the os map, I'm trying to find it but I don't wanna be second guessing ha thanks if u can help 👍
It's SN090163, a tiny limestone crag just by the bridleway leading over Bwlch Glasgwm. You can walk round it!
@@hillsthings4077 I type the ref no in os maps gave me another place haha
Glad you enjoyed it 👍
I sat up There on Xmas day 2023 beautiful blue sky snow frost icicles wild goats it was like the land that time forgot Local rumour is wolves are still up There however I’m yet to hear the howling !
Thanks Steve. Yeah I got lucky with the weather. I've wandered off the northern part of the ridge in the wrong direction in the mist before now! Wonderful area, full of secret nooks and crannies. Only Scotland has wilder places in Britain. Must be brilliant to have that as your local dog walk. ATB
I’ve walked up Numerous times with my dog in all weathers your vid I think Shows it off the best ! Not often such perfect conditions can be treacherous and dangerous but wild beauty for sure
Ah brilliant you showed off the Area perfectly! I live in Wern Fach at the foot of those magnificent mountains ! Pop in for a cuppa if you’re here again
Fabulous circuit and some distance for sure... I did Carn Pica this year and its quite a pull up there.. to then go and do the circuit inc Tor y Foel I have to doff my cap to you. There is a lovely spot that I have visited (and camped at ) at 11:00 which as great views down onto the res. I have even done a few Summer Solstice sunrises from there. great watch.
That’s a hell of a distance! I was tired doing half of that, fair play! Great walk and video thanks for sharing. I have a Brecon Beacons channel myself .. nice to connect with local walkers Best wishes Adam
Thanks Adam, yeah I was pretty knackered after that! ATB
@@hillsthings4077 I’m not surprised! Great effort look forward to seeing more
Wow big walk this one! Impressive ! Really enjoyed , fantastic clear footage- a fantastic place! Good effort on a tough hike there. Best wishes Adam
Been up that way a few times, precious memories.
Amazing landscape. Thanks for sharing your adventure!
Totally enjoyed-Thank you 👍👍
Great little film! So near to the hotspots of Kendal and Windermere, and yet 'a thousand miles away'
Beautiful but strange place. Sometimes looks like ancient vulcanic origins, stones splitting in such regular patterns. Guess there are no wild animals left and it gets real cold and wet in winter. In Mediterranean areas like this there'd be a lot of snakes / reptiles in all those boulder fields - so quite an uneasy feeling to hike and camp.
Hi Stefan, yes it is, that's part of it's appeal for me. The rocks are ancient seabed, coarse dark sandstone and mudstone, dating from the Cambrian period, a rock known as 'graywacke'. Yeah, in the UK we've lost most of our 'interesting' animals!
There are wild goats up there.
I'm taking a Cotswolds walkabout from America in 10 weeks; staying at the Crown Hotel in Blockley the second night. Thanks for sharing!
Brilliant, you'll have a great time, as long as our fickle weather co-operates!
Very nice. You had beautiful weather. Good video👍
Excellent video
Thanks so much mate. Just watched it again. Loved your comment about the heron gill wanting to enjoy your sandwich too, and we like what looks tremendous is is not. You're such an awesome guy, quite 😂 a lot of the time. Love it. Hope you do more mountains in North snowdonia so we can all enjoy. Thank you ❤
And a well deserved pint 👏 👍
❤❤❤
Great video again. Was up there about 6 weeks ago with the clwydian ramblers, but on my ankle, I couldn't do the final scramble to Aran Ffawddy. I could get up, but I would have struggled to get down. It was a safe call. ❤
Cracking ridge isn't it.
Yes it is. Did Aran Benllech before from the Valley floor. But recently with the clwydian ramblers we went from Llanwchllyn. Didn't realise it was going to be 12 miles of up and down. Loved it but would have been better on my fixed ankle eventually 😂❤❤❤. Thanks for all your videos. They are so helpful to us all watching ❤❤
I know where the bridge up you are talking about. I come from nant peris side. I can follow the wall from nant peris along a footpath so far to get into the cwm that you clambered up to reach the base of Llechog. It's from there at the base that I'm confused. Did you scramble to the top, or is there grass flanks to get up the left (the side you tackled it from) side to get up onto the ridge? ❤
I can't really remember that level of detail, I went to the right and then bypassed a grade 2 section on the left. But I can't really say exactly where that was, it was below what I considered to be the start of the scrambling proper. Not sure if that's useful.
Yes, that's very helpful. I read a short report on the trail on a climbers/graded scrambles. It says to stay left (on easier terrain) of the big tower with the clefts in your video and chamber up stone slabs (great handhold you commented when started climbing it) that I saw when I watched your video again after reading it. Then it says ascend the rib to the next tower and go right to bypass the tower and stay on the rib until you accend onto a prominent shoulder. The next step is climbed on the left where the ridge eases. then stay left for the least challenging route to the top. does this sound like what you did? Thanks for all your support. I Am determined to do it and come down the gryrn las ridge that you came down. Do you remember how far down in metres is the gully you have to come down if following the grass path from the top gyrn las ? ❤❤
Sorry mate, I just can't remember that level of detail. I kind of just read the terrain and climbed what I thought looked ok for me. The thing with scrambling is it's a lot less precise than climbing where you can identify individual moves and features clearly. Again with the descent I just located it via the map (it's a bit tricky to find as you can't see it from above) until it coalesced into a ridge then followed it down and tackled obstacles as I encountered them. As I've said before, you need to be confident in navigation in steep mixed ground, you don't want to fall down Cyrn Las!
I think I should go up gyrn las 1st before coming down it then. Your video is so awesome, and so are you. I'm trying to find all the routes off the llanberis ridge down to nant peris avoiding llanberis where my brother and I got stuck for a couple of hours after we missed the last bus. I was so exhausted and feet killing me that I couldn't walk the 3 to 4 mile road to nant peris. I know there's at least 5 off. The 610m contour mountain is one. Bwlch coch is another llechog another, gyrn las, and a few more. Thanks for all your help. Will leave you alone now, mate. Must be getting on your nerves by now 😂. Will keep watching this fantastic video for clues, though. I do know how to use a map and compass, but after a breakdown in late 2017, then covid, kinda lost some confidence. I was a really good navigator before. Just getting the confidence back. My brother has no navigation skills at all. It's all down to me. No pressure 😂. I got us on the ridge last time, though, plan B. I always have a plan B ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
👋 I tried to get up from nant peris up the right side and got stuck a few times. Thankfully, my brother was with me. When I got up there, there was llechog to my left, 2 subsidiaries, and the 610m contour mountain to my right. Llechog seemed impassible and too steep above the cliffs. So knackered after the steep climb from nant peris, I went with plan B and headed for the 610m contour mountain. It was the safest move. Didn't find a path till high up. Will be trying again from the left side accent to see if that is easier. Thanks again. Just thought I'd let you know how I got on. I've a recovering ankle injury, too, which doesn't help, but I'm stubborn. If I want to do it, I'll do my best to do it. I find it hard to follow your video as we are starting in a different place. Are you starting from the metal footbridge???? to get up, llechog????
Brilliant! sounds like an epic. If I remember rightly it was the metal footbridge, I might be wrong about that though.
I tried the right side going up today but didn't get there. Looked lolly bad after taking a wrong turn I think I'll try from the west side, the left sides 😮. Got up the 610 contour onto the ridge instead. It's really dangerous and hard
Ah well, at least you had a go
❤❤❤
Whats with the ridiculous music??? Youve ruined a good video..
Nah!... best part of it...
I’m so glad I’m visiting Blockley on this glorious meander! Wonderful video ❤🎉
Thank you so much❤
Is the right side easier up onto the ridge? Grass flanks with the odd chamber over the rocks. Coming from nant peris. Thank you for your info, and thanks for your fantastic video. Would like to try the gyrn las ridge (up) that yo came down at the end, another time. I always like to try it up 1st before I attempt a descent. I will leave markers on the route. So, the right side of Llechog crest?❤
Yeah, the right side, quite a bit of rock but easy angle and pretty much all avoidable
I'm talking about going up. Right or left of the rocky crest? Please 🙏
I can't guarantee but I'd suggest the right is the easier. But take care, it's vegetated/rocky steep mixed ground.
Where did you start from please?. I want to go up the way you come down. Gyrn Las. I will be going from nant peris. Do I have to head for cwm gkas, or is it before that coming from the west. Or do I skirt the base of Llechog to get there? Absolutely awesome video ❤
Hi Jules, I parked in a layby down from the entrance to Cwm Glas. There's no paths, well not any formal ones, I crossed the Nant Peris by the bridge at 614 576 then freelanced it to the bottom of Llechog. I wouldn't recommend coming down that way unless you're very experienced with steep mixed ground, i.e. down climbing. Have a good one!
Thanks so much mate. I got to the 2nd stile from Nant Peris. With a recovering ankle injury I decided that was enough for one day. That took me an hour including photos. I've screenshot a lot of your video to try and follow to get to the top of Llechog. Which side of Llechog has the grass flanks to to the top? The left side or the right side when you're looking up from the pass? I'm going Sunday again to go further. Thanks for responding. ❤ Jules
Not sure, the left hand side of Llechog is easier, the right hand side has a grade 3 scramble which I did years ago when I was young fit and stupid...
Bollox! I got my left and right confused..😂😂 The RIGHT side is the easier one.
Thank you so much, mate. I'm trying the left side of Llechog next time or make my way to go up the gyrn las ridge before I try come down it. Made it to the col between Llechog and the 610m contour mountain top and headed for that as plan B. Alwagood to have a plan B. When I got up there, I could see I couldn't get up the right side of Llechog. OMG, what a bloody steep and dangerous climb up to the col between Llechog and the 610m top. Took a wrong turn at the base. Luckily, I was ok. But steep wasn't the word. Thanks for all your ❤
