The Konica AiBorg: Madness Manifest In A Point And Shoot Camera
The Konica AiBorg is a point-and-shoot camera straight out of an alternate universe where "bad design" is an art form. With its bizarre, uncooperative joystick, strange autofocus system, and functions that seem to have been designed by aliens, this camera doesn’t make any sense... but that’s exactly why we love it. It comes packed with oddball modes like Bouncing Ball and Snow Mode, each as quirky as the last, but with no guarantee that they’ll work as expected. If you’re looking for precision, look elsewhere-but if you want a camera that’ll force you to think outside the box, the AiBorg’s your weird, wobbly best friend. Strap in, it’s a weird ride!

In this video, we're going to look at the top three tools in our kit that are not only absolutely essential to all of our productions but also have nothing to do with the camera or the audio chain. And, because you came here for information and not for marketing, we aren't going to mention any brand names. You will not find any of the gear discussed linked in the description below because, and ...

hello, can we re edit the whole session again like Atem Iso?
Nope. The DRPs that come out of the ATEM are built by Blackmagic for Blackmagic. This board doesn't even have ISOs which might not sound like a lot but once we bought our first ISO board, we never considered buying the base models again. We use those ISOs in 80% of our workflows and in the other 20% they function as a CYA solution. I'm not saying the GoStream doesn't have its use cases; there are heaps. But what you're talking about really needs an ATEM ISO to get across the finish line. Thanks for jumping in on the comments!
A well thought out and articulated presentation of not only the camera, but, more importantly, the broad scope of philosophies that its conceptual possibilities and impossibilities exist in. Rhetorically, is there an Overton window for the esoteric and eccentric and where is the world at on it? I'd say we've never been more fearful of being seen to step outside of the generic, predictable, etc. Hopefully channels like this can help people feel a little safer to explore beyond the edges of things more, depending on how the algorithm rewards that...
So far, the algorithm hasn't been terribly kind. The good news is that the exercise we're doing over here isn't built around any algorithms. It's built around collecting our ideas and communicating them better. Your comment about that Overton window leads me to believe that we're making progress towards our goals and I look forward to thinking about that for a bit. Don't be surprised if we mention it in a future video.
do you always sound like a pretentious idiot?
this is very helpful
when did you start mastering? any film credits ? whats PAL stand for lol just kidding ...sonic was awesome !now slow tools whoops pro tools ...PT early days 16bit converted D /A using those apogee we called them apologies because they still dubbed on 35mm mag.....but everything back then was funky ....like he says speakers, software it all got better fast you like iZotope ?too bad sonic plugins went away oh well change happens. thanks for your input
Oh god, I want it
@@caalmadacaalmada6618 It's one of the most fun cameras in our toy box, not in spite of its flaws but because of them. Thanks for the comment!
Here’s my solution for the harbor freight Apache 3800 pick foam I shared with a UA-camr who used that stuff as well. I use my Apache 3800 for firearms and just today I ran across these “Husky” brand pads used to save people’s knees when kneeling down. Coincidentally, the size I found at Home Depot if cut in half horizontally is the exact size of the two top layers of the 3900 pic foam. As you might imagine, the foam on the Husky knee pad is very firm and strong. So my challenge is to first cut it into two pieces then measure out the number of handguns I’ll be using (in my case 4 pistols and one .357 magnum. The pistols are pretty much of the compact size so they fit very nicely in a perpendicular orientation leaving room at the top for the longer .357 magnum. So I’m going to carefully measure out the width, approximately 1” wide by 7-10” long leaving rooms m in between each pistol for the magazines. The reason for all this is the same reason you used the spray. The pic foam is just junk. It falls apart as you’re picking it out and when inserting and removing the firearms in my case. So the trick would be to leave the egg carton type foam at the top and the solid foam at the bottom then have two layers of the Husky material in between the too. This stuff will not fall apart and is extremely flexible. So tomorrow the project would be to neatly cut the pad into two equal sections, glue them one in top of the other then measure exactly the width of each firearm slot leaving room for magazines for each respective magazine so they don’t get mixed up and are easy to identify. Also I’ll leave a horizontal slot at the top for the .357 which has room to fit above the pistols. I believe I’ll ha room for at least 4 pistols and maybe 5 going across with slots for mags in between. I’m also hoping to have room for speed loaders for the revolver and (I may be wishing for too much) a slot for ammunition. I think this might be a good alternative to the cheap and very porous and delicate pick foam and eliminate it entirely. As a range case this will hopefully turn out to be quite handy, handsome )depending on my cuts) and a well protected method of transport and storage although at home the firearms are kept in a safe. But I’m planning on camping and bringing them with me so I can lock the case and lock the handle to some fixed object in a camper. If you’re interested in seeing some pics I’ll be glad to share as I go along. It’s with great surprise that the measurement of the kneeling pad is exactly perfect to fill two layers of the 3800. If anyone try’s this idea let me know how it went for you. Your idea for strengthening the pick foam was a good one. But let’s see how my brainstorm works out. I’m not a UA-camr but I may take this opportunity to do my first video. Peace out ✌️ I wanted to put some before and after pics in here but you can’t include pics in comments unfortunately. Anyone interested please advise.
Thanks!
whem i apply grade all clips came back to normal instead get the color gradient. omg
Amazing, I’ll definitely be doing this. Thank you
Thank you for the concise video
you saved me lots of time, I taught my ATEM mini is broken and was in about to buy another one
Awesome! I'm so glad it was helpful!
Thankyou so very kindly good sir, for a direct and simple instructional. The assistance has been overwhelming. <3
This video is outdated. The presenter is using an outdated version of adobe photoshop from 2022.
It's funny to see this comment because we've bailed completely on CC in 2024. We couldn't update for Photoshop if we wanted to. Maybe it's time to do a version of this with Pixelmator or something.
@@JJKoester Thank you for the reply. I am having a difficult time with the Adobe photoshop. Trying to resize my logo, so that I can downstream it. I will check out Pixelmator.
@@calvinmathis9070 I won't have time to do the video this week but if I can, I'll do it next week. If you don't have Pixelmator, it's worth checking out. We were never a 'power user' in PS so we're not the best ones to ask if Pixelmator is a good replacement but for basic functions, it's gotten us across the finish line plenty of times.
You have a weird thumb bro.
Wrong. I have two of them.
super good video, fast and concise exactly what it should be
Detailed in simple language
thank you 🙏
Very interesting comparison! I'm curious if you've noticed any difference in quality of processing between Spectra and Cinelab? Or for that matter, if you've compared the quality of Spectra processing with some of the big names, like Fotokem or Kodak Labs in Atlanta? Thanks!
Maybe I missed it, but how much product did you use? I'm wanting to do a Apache 4800 case and don't want to purchase too much as I've not had good luck storing this stuff after use.
@@ReevesRacingGarage I think you could do two coats with a 16oz container (if that's available). We can get two coats on a pair of Pelican 1510s with plenty left over with a 32oz container. To your secondary point, we don't bother trying to store Flex Seal as we want it as creamy as possible on application and no matter how tight we seal the top, there always seems to be a thin film when we open it back up a couple months later and there's just no saving the rest once that starts. Thank you for the question!
Great video! The tearing of the sprocket holes also happens on my KMZ build Zenit... somebody should've had a conversation with their engineers 50 years ago or so and worked on that before all else...
Thanks for the comment! When I bought the camera, I didn't even realize that it was KMZ who made it. I was shooting on it for a couple of weeks and then started researching this episode and as soon as I found out, pretty much everything about the camera made sense immediately. As much as I pick on KMZ cameras, I actually really enjoy shooting on them because of all their idiosyncrasies. Thanks for the comment!
Thanks a lot for your video. I am going to use the Zoom L20 for a live gig soon and thanks to you i hope to do it not too bad.
Buenos Dias, utilizando la placa con el DAW cual es la configuracion para que el sonido salga por los monitores de estudio?
It seems like the developers have made an effort to make even the most basic things difficult ahahahaha. All the life Premiere Pro
I like the obnoxious grade!
Great. Very useful. Trim this down into short format as well!
I see soo much reviews with overheating problem. Do you have any issues?
I have not had overheating issues but I tend to work in cooler environments. That said, the fan is something formidable on the Duet. It doesn't bother me too much when using it but I would totally understand if someone heard it and said it had to come out of their pipeline.
This is manually copying the colouring of one clip on other clips, isn't there anyway to group them so when you apply one colouring it auto applies to the rest? edit: found it, select clips in colour page, right click, add into a new group, then go up and select "group pre clip"
Pinning this on. Thank you for the question and the answer.
Nah
Except for you. You're the one who's allowed to do your own taxes.
I don't get ist - I usually don't show any gear at all in my reel. II mean yes - if there is a DJI mic-brick slam dunk in the shot, but anything else? Are you taking about a BTS reel?
Thank you for the question. Reels frequently come in with a resume or CV that fills in some of those technical gaps. Also, a lot of the reels we watch are from DPs and that information is often included in a lower third along with project title and director. Finally, there is some intuition involved. If you watch enough reels, you get a sense for scale of production pretty reliably. As you get more sensitive to production scales, you realize that the equipment follows the scale pretty consistently. And, if we aren't sure, we inquire.
It was so easy to get freelance clients back in the day, I literally spent the first 15 years of my career basically ignoring marketing and business. Then several more at an in-house gig. I was just coasting along honing my craft. Now I'm skilled, but old, and trying to break away from the in-hosue stuff. Find myself being passed up by younger designers that focused on marketing maybe even more than their design skills. lol. What a life
Thanks for the comment. The reality is that I'm aging out of a lot of gigs and that's part of the UA-cam channel activity. I'm trying to position myself more publicly as a producer than as a shooter/editor and this seems like a rational direction to try to go. First, writing the essays helps me to put words to a lot of shapeless thoughts that have been floating around in my head. Second, doing it on a public platform seems like a good way to grow my presence as a producer. The marketing side of things never spoke to me and I haven't enjoyed the change in trends where ones ability to run a social media campaign supersedes their ability to do the job. So, I'm right there with you thinking, "I spend the last two decades getting really good at my job and now I'm supposed to post 3 video stories a week and 5 reels if I want to keep my job?" Thank you for commenting. I really appreciate it.
Great video, helpful and to the point, appreciate it
Thank you! Brevity = soul/wit!

Question for Ya, is this L-20 has an onboard graph EQ instead of an external graph EQ. When Using the L-20 for Live Performance, would the setup the same as your normal live mixer? Thanks
you should update this video. Lots of things going on in 3d world
Thank you for watching and commenting! I think we gave that one away to a fellow hobbyist. We are looking into 3d and really want to get into it. But, good golly, is it expensive to get a 3D pipeline up and running. It's on our minds and hopefully we can start working in 3D in earnest soon. 🙂
I am on my lunch break! Great to see this great teamwork. I am still looking for my team 😅 Who needs someone to take over their social media and marketing 👊🏻 So you can continue to work on your true job and don't get lost in the social media rabbit hole 🔥

Hi , I m happy to watch your vedio and subscribed too. I m from India i use 500 watt emp. For power to mixer. Should I use same for L20 or buy other one you recommend ? I m waiting for your advise.
Solid advice here, Jesse. Yes to all of the above! If you wouldn't mind doing a rap video on good file naming habits that would be great! Wait a minute ... You've covered that, too! 🎬♥️👍
Thank you so much for the kind words! If all that file naming has you confident that you're ready to start a podcast, we've got you: ua-cam.com/video/XB-2YXlEkRM/v-deo.html
Davinci Resolve is like a hitting a brick wall; it's a seemingly impassable obstacle, but eventually, it all comes tumbling down. I usually can figure things out, but for whatever reason, Resolve stumped me for the longest time... but once it clicks, it clicks, and I'm left wondering why I was ever confused in the first place...
It all makes sense, but it's their sense. Not yours. 🙂
So the best way is using headphones output with H4N or H6 device?
Wow, very nice! This seems to work better than Plasti-Dip! I see you did the tops, but not in the verticals. I'm thinking from my experience with Plasti-Dip of maybe doing all inner vertical edges with Plasti-Dip and then the tops and bottoms and outer edges with Flex Seal like you did. I did all the things I should do to show appreciation for the vid. 😁 Thanks for that, lol - gave us a chuckle, as we watch FB pull posts that look like they're suggesting people "do the things..." - great way of putting it. We may borrow that!
Came for the short answer 🙏
So incredibly informative. Been wanting to switch labs based on my own experiences and this was so helpful!
Thank you for the kind words! Where can we see what you're shooting on film? We're always keen to watch what others are cooking up!
Nice one,Subscribed. Please keep it comin...
That's the plan! I hope you don't mind the long content because we do that as well. :-)
Just what I needed (used the first one) thank you. Jesse!
Tried to follow your technique, but somehow I screwed up and lost the color grade settings that I was trying to apply to other clips. There has to be a fail safe way to do this.
that was very helpfull, thanks 😊😊

My Gostream Duet only sends mono audio sound when am stream. Please is there a way to adjust that to stereo? If yes , how do I do it? Thanks
We are having the same problem! Is your mono signal only coming out of one channel with the other silent or is it the same signal being fed to both ears?
