A Highland Canoe Journey - Pit Roast Sea Bass in Moss - Solo Overnight Hammock Camp
In this, my first camp of Spring video I head out for two gorgeous days canoeing around 20 miles up a beautiful Scottish Loch. Surrounded by Eagles, Deer and Woodpeckers I cook sea bass in moss and make chocolate apple pancakes for breakfast. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did

Illness in the Hills - Lessons Learned - Walking Stick Guitar
Переглядів 537Місяць тому
Not my proudest video this but I learned some lessons.. After mostly recovering from a bad illness I decided to head for a night out in the mountains.. Several bad decisions later I ended up having to bail out while it was getting dark.. Only slight injuries obtained but it gave me a good wake up call!
Poncho Shelter and a Blanket - Building a Debris Bed - Scottish Highlands Wild Camp with Minimal Kit
Переглядів 7 тис.2 місяці тому
I had a good time on this one. For a challenge I head out in to the Highlands to test a minimal kit setup on a cold Winters night. Using only what I can fit in a 58 pattern webbing set I build a debris bed from pine needles and grass and set my poncho up as my shelter using a fire for warmth. I see some local wildlife and have a complete fail baking bread for breakfast. Hope you enjoy!
Campfire Pizza Using Rocks in a Pot - Makeshift Campfire Oven on a Scottish Mountain
Переглядів 7273 місяці тому
Do you ever have an idea pop in to your head and have to immediately go and try it out? That happened to me today! I make a makeshift oven using rocks lining the bottom of my pot and cook a fresh pizza on a Scottish mountain side. Enjoy the video and give it a try yourself!
2 Stormy Nights Alone - Clifftop Bothy - West Coast of Scotland - Paracord Sling - Deer Antler Pipe
Переглядів 3,9 тис.3 місяці тому
In this video I head out to one of my favourite spots in Scotland, a lesser known bothy perched on the top of a coastal cliff. The weather put a halt to many of my plans but I managed to finish making my deer antler pipe, make a shepherds sling and practise with it on the shore then read a whole book while the wind and waves lulled me into a multi day meditative state. Not a lot of action in th...
-10c in a Polish Lavvu Hot Tent - Solo in the Scottish Highlands

The annoying thing about snow is it takes a lot longer to make a brew.. Also the cold kills your camera batteries and leaves you filming on a gopro.. In this video I head for a night out in to the snowy Scottish mountains armed with a new gasifier twig stove to try out and watched by the local deer. I took my Polish Lavvu hot tent with my home made stove for this one as I'd lent out my arctic s...
2 Day Sub-Zero Scottish Highland Wild Camp In A Polish Lavvu - Steak On A Rock - Beach Archery
Переглядів 1,5 тис.4 місяці тому
In this, my first video in four years, I make the most of a break in the bad weather and venture out to the Shores of Loch Shiel in the Scottish Highlands for an overnight camp. Using just a half Polish Lavvu and a wool blanket I sleep on the shores in minus temperatures under a beautiful night sky. I cook a Sirloin Steak on a rock by the fire, make breakfast bannock on a stick as well as makin...
Solo Camp in the Scottish Wilderness - Hammock Fail - Venison Chilli - Blueberry Bannock
Переглядів 5824 роки тому
Desperate to spend a night in my hammock and after waiting in vain for two weeks for the weather to clear I throw caution to the wind (literally) and head out in to the Scottish Wilderness in a Land Rover. I make camp in some old ruins only to be battered by severe wind and hail which forces a change of plan... Later I cook a venison chilli and sing some blues round the campfire. Breakfast is m...

Solo Winter Camp in a Lavvu through Storm Ciara and Venison Fillet Steak Caveman Style!

In this video I set out in a row boat to make camp on the shores of Loch Nevis only to be stopped in my tracks by increasing winds. I berth the boat and continue on foot and make camp just before dark. I spend a comfy night in my Lavvu in the build up to Storm Ciara then, in the morning I break camp with an empty stomach having accidentaly wet my tinder and kindling during the night. Perserveri...
Quick Paddle Round the Island at Sunset

Lovely evening and I could hear the first oystercatchers and sandpipers of the year, back early from their Winter homes singing so I nipped out for a swift paddle around the Island and back.
Solo Overnight Camp in a Polish Lavvu Hot Tent on Scotlands Wild West Coast

Taking my Lavvu on it's maiden voyage and testing out the collapsible stove I built for it. Offroading in a buggy and feeding the deer. Cooking a venison stew and testing a home made seat and a new sleeping bag.
😀 Hiya buddy, I've only watched the flat pack stove, and overnighter in the polish lavvu so far, but, very impressed!! 😳 I have a few questions with the stove, and the lavvu, mostly, have you attempted a MK 2, is there another vid I should watch? (I will catch up on the rest of your vids) Apologies for so many q's! Great vids btw, thanks for sharing, cheers, Jim 👍
Hey bud.. Shortly after filming those videos I left the place I was living/working (covid was a bit much there) and moved into a camper and I've been on the road ever since with not much workshop access.. I got to the point of having CAD files drawn up to get some laser cut but no further. The original just sat in my van for years until this winter when I got it out again for another camp (it's in 'The annoying thing about snow' video) but there's been no other progress since.. if I'm ever near a workshop for long enough I'll try and do some more on the design
❤ beautiful 😊
Thank you 🙂
Superb channel ... cheers from Cornwall. ..... reduce, re-use, recycle. Nice.
Haha, thanks very much. Glad you're enjoying the videos!
great vid, wondering what the song you played in the intro was
and also the song from 12:33
Hey thanks, glad you enjoyed the video. The first song is a rendition of Doc Watsons version of Walk on Boy. I think the original was Mel Tillis and the one around 12 minutes is Never Going Back Again, it's a Lindsey Buckingham/Fleetwood Mac track
Excellent video, loved it!. I absolutely love the west coast, I never go anywhere else!. It’s good for your soul!.
Thanks buddy. Aye it's a properly special place, so lucky to be here!
Yay! 12.33..nice guitar.. 🙃 ❤
Thanks 🙂 it's a cover of Fleetwood Mac - Never going back again
Wheres your channel been hiding fella. Brilliant video mate. Cant wait to come over and experience some of this peace. Cheers 🙂

Thanks for that! Aye it's a beautiful corner of the world.
The thing is, id imagine folk don't know you are WEMSI trained.. which might give a bit mare context to yer insight and experience in this area.. maybe ye have mentioned that in past videos and I just don't remember.. but aye.. when YOU are saying its sketchy, then I believe ye ahha.. That was still a really gid video.. crackin collection of stunning shots and aye.. a gid message fir folk.. and it's gid to see that side of things.. being true to the reality of the situation.. well in bud. Looking forward to yer next venture on the canoe. From waht you have mentioned to me, its gonna be a belter..
Cheers for that buddy.. aye the first responder training does give you a decent perspective on all of that!

Aye I'll definitely get it out once I've fixed the mistakes I made on it that day 🙂
You do look unwell coming off that hill,,,, been their lad,,,, an hours walk feels like it never ends,,,, knowing when to call it quits is important though,,,, you proved to yourself that you knew by the mistakes being made, that you wernt in a good place…..👌
Aye it's not good! Yeah that walk did feel never ending.. thanks for saying that buddy :)
As long as you're safe m8
Loved the blues but I can't stop playing it now on my blueridge br 73. Is that an original from yourself? If so great work. Also loved the video brother.Cinematic stuff. See you soon. ✊😎.
Oh nice guitar buddy! Nah it's not an original it's originally Skip James - Hard Time Killing Floor Blues and that's a cover of Chris Thomas Kings version.. cracking song. Glad you enjoyed the video!
Great video! What’s the tune at 30:40?
Hey thanks, it's a cover I did of Chris Thomas Kings version of Hard Time Killing Floor Blues originally by Skip James. You'll probably recognize it from the film O' brother where art thou.. Glad you enjoyed it 🙂
Go danny!
Cheers Abby 😁
I've seen this amazing bothy before on the Stripy Hat Guy's channel. I enjoyed seeing the area around it in even more detail when you stayed more than one night. Surely someone will someday get to fish -- and catch something -- for our viewing pleasure. Loved seeing how you filled your time during the bad weather.
Thanks very much! I need to go back at some point soon as I dropped my bag of fishing stuff which I'm hoping someone has found and put in there so I'll have another try! Never heard of stripy hat guy, I'll check him out. Thanks again
Nice one mate, great coastline that ...ill have to have a trip up there again.
Cheers buddy. Aye it's an amazing corner of the world
New subcriber sorry for so many comments. Is it hard to get a firearm in Scotland? Also love the channel you seem very down to Earth. Keep em coming my friend!
Hi thanks. Gun laws are very strict in the UK and in Scotland it's rare to see anyone with one that they don't use for working, deer stalking or wildfowl shooting.
I live in Massachusetts USA. How can I get one of those poncho's?
Not sure about over there. They're becoming much more rare now and also more expensive. Finding one in good condition for a good price even in Europe is getting harder ..
Great bothy should have gone for a swim
I know! I have been in there before but I was far to relaxed this time 😂
@dannydoesthings6605 tbf I did it in summer it was a warm day was fantastic 👌
@@Puffball-ll1ly haha, last time I went swimming there was the first week of January.. that woke me up! Aye it's a great spot
not what i look for in a camping vid, but it was good
Well thanks for giving it a go!
Hey fantastic video mate. I’m really enjoying them, ignore the negative people they can go watch silent movies instead, I’m picking tips off you. Don’t change anything and hope you show me more of your adventures 😀😀😀keep em coming 👍👍👍
Haha thanks for that buddy, I know I can't please everyone so I don't try. I'm just glad some people are enjoying them 🙂

Thanks! I play all the music and (badly) record it myself to avoid paying for it 😁 well sotted there's a couple of Lindsey Buckingham tracks on my videos.. thanks again

Way TOO MUCH talking.
Cheers for the feedback buddy
Not at all !!!
Your a very un-sociable being , did you take the luciferin tea ?
@@dannydoesthings6605 Good adventure and talk through 👍
I agree with you, my friend he just wouldn’t shut up. I say shut up at camp anyways he seems like a cool dude, but he just talks way too much Northern California in the house.
Where’s that then?
Lovely video
Thanks buddy
loved it.
Cheers buddy
Excellent upload .. loved it. Great life choices matey. Cheers from Cornwall.
Cheers buddy, glad you enjoyed.. I know I did!

Thanks buddy, glad you're enjoying them!
As yet ive only watched this video but have just subscribed on the strength of it. I'll watch the rest of your vids and will continue to comment. Thanks bro. Oh BTW the stag meeting was amazing. Looking forward to seeing more. Kind regards Simon from Dover. ✌😎.
Thanks for the subscribe Simon 🙂. I only started making videos again recently but lots planned for this year. Hope you keep on enjoying them!
Nice overnighter !
Thanks buddy, I enjoyed it!
Enjoyed that mate really relaxing and brought some good ideas to mind, even with proper sleeping kit I could benefit from making abit of a debris base under my bivvi. And just wow that looked a great spot for a camp too, shame about the bread as soon as you built up the twigs on top of the pot I thought…. Risky, perhaps been better off with coals only. Anyhow keep up the good work Danny I look forward to these future videos you mentioned 👍
Thanks for that, glad you enjoyed it. Aye, I think you're right with the bread. I gave it too much heat and paid the price. At least it tasted good!
Awesome stuff, I think you need to brand the bacon as "twigs in blankets"
Hahahaha. Genuine Genius 😂
Great video! My partner and I enjoy your content! We have definitely been to where you were filming too 🙌🏻
I'm glad you're enjoying them. They're good fun to make! Aye it's a gorgeous area and there's plenty more to explore 🙂
That looks well cozy man, you'll have to set one up by the main stage. Amazing vids though, great cinematography. Gives me classic channel 4 vibes xx
Aw thanks man, appreciate it. Hope you're well!
