Brahms: Violin Concerto in D, op. 77 Comparison of Soloist Entrance 0:00 Hilary Hahn (2014) 0:25 Itzhak Perlman 0:56 Augustin Hadelich 1:23 Janine Jansen 1:50 Sergey Khachatryan 2:23 David Oistrakh 2:49 Hilary Hahn (2021) 3:18 Leonidas Kavakos 3:45 Yehudi Menuhin 4:13 Sayaka Shoji 4:45 Julia Fischer 5:10 Bomsori Kim 5:38 Frank Peter Zimmermann 6:03 Jascha Heifetz 6:31 David Garrett 7:00 Vadim G...
My favourite interpretation is Julia Fischer because of the consistency, articulation, and powerful sound. I also like the way she gradually increases the sound until the highest point in the phrase.
Hilary Hahn, is the best. 🙌🙂↔️
Zimmermann and Milstein suprised me, very good.
I personally love Jansen's version the most🔥🔥
These kids are so freaking cringe 🤦♂️ they talk only about Hillary but there are so much talenten musician🤦♂️. And some player played better intro than her
Sergey 🔥 But Heifetz’ Brahms is just the GOAT
WHERE IS MY NING FENG LOVE HE IS THE ONLY ONE WHO CAN DO IT RIGHT
Oistrakh master
I liked Bomsori Kim a lot, but probably just because she *probably* have a Guarneri Del Jesú, and fits best with Brahms. Perlman is really different from everyone, what a man. Janine is really agressive, jesus.
Crazy world we are living when weak Tchaikovsky 5th weak Boring colorless violin sound Bomsori Kim is the greatest! Bomsori Kim was out first round weak Sibelius violin competition! This is a stupid video! The Best are missing! Jascha Heifetz(, Best technique) Guila Bustabo(The Queen Tiger! Viktor Tretjakov(The King) Henryk Szeryng(most powerful) Leonid Kogan( Best violin sound for Brahms) David Oistrakh(, Best structure for music!) Classical music is so sick business! You do not see this other areas like Nobel prizes or tennis or chess or football! Those areas we do know who are the best!
For me I prefer Kerson Leong.
For me Nigel Kennedy (absent in this film) has the best emotional and dramatic entrance 😍😍😍
1. F.P Zimmerman 2. Sergey Khachatryan 3. Augustine Hadelich
Bruh Hilary’s is so clean and connected compared to the others, and that’s on a bad recording as well.
1 sr jascha heifetz, 2 sr algustin hadelich, 3 sra, hilari han, , porem todos com o talento magnífico
This is really fantastic. In so many recordings you don't hear after the first entrance the doublestops are not projected going to the accented top octave. Heifetzdoesnt do it slowenoughyet i prefer him yo many others in the rest of the concerto,Milstein does it shortstaccato.Hilary improves in 2021 even moreso.JoshuaBell?Vengerov plays entire concerto differently everytime I hear him.thatgreatoldJewishwoman was one of the best. GinetteNeveu too made a great recording Zimbalist is passable no great insight,Elman,Szigeti,Szeryng very smart.Kreislers recordingdoesnt say much to me. Toscanini with crazy Italian woman is not good though she recorded better later.Perlmans is one of the best!
Hilary Hahn
Hilary Hann ❤
this is no comparison... hahn is the only one that is able to meld it all properly.
agreed. the others may be good, but Hahn is the master.
According to me (but certainly not only me), the *greatest* rendition of this concerto was by Ginette Neveu in 1948 with Isserstedt as conductor. So, a comparison without including that (even if there is no visual material to show), is imho not at all complete.
Concerto pour violon de Brahms : Violon : Yehudi Menuhin Direction : Kurt Masur Leipzig 1982
Voici mon classement : 1er : Menuhin 2ème Perlman 3ème : Hahn 4ème : Kavados 5ème : Fischer 6ème : David Oistrakh L'entrée de Menuhin est exceptionnelle ! Le concerto est à écouter en entier ! C'est une interprétation de référence ! Musicalité, sensibilité et technique hors du commun ! Merci monsieur Menuhin !
Nathan Milstein 😮😮😮. Although it is admire Menuhin playing Brahms at that age, the example doesn’t do him justice
Maxim Vengerov. Technical precision meets incredible musical feel. Hillary Hahn has amazing technique , but always has sounded a touch thin to me.
Just the recording quality but hilary crushed that holy shit
Having listened to all of these on high quality headphones, Hahn's performance is clearly the best, which is especially incredible seeing as the video used for comparison isn't even the best available. The others all have their own issues, whether it be shrieking, twangy or crunchy playing at points, or just having inconsistent rhythm, they're comparatively unpleasant to listen to. Played well, the piece isn't supposed to sound hard and I feel like Hahn is the only one that accomplishes this.
Not trying to say you’re wrong But just wanted to add my thoughts! This piece isn’t a lullaby, and is actually about (in a nutshell) a dying kid on a horse Obviously Hilary is clearly the cleanest, but I have to disagree on that you said “it isn’t supposed to sound hard” Everyone has their own interpretation, and obviously to listen to, Hilary’s is the best But to express the story, some shrieking and crunching and inconsistency makes sense in context Thanks! ❤
She's basically the only one to achieve the voice separation, which was clearly Ernst's goal. The others are just ... dirty.
For me Nathan Milstein is always going to be the most perfect violinist overall. However, the winner for Brahm's Entrace goes to Nadja Salerno-Sonnenberg. 2nd- Bomsori Kim & Maxim Vengerov 2:52 Nadja Salerno-Sonnenberg ua-cam.com/video/giIBatKa5r4/v-deo.html&start_radio=1 2:38 Tianwa Yang ua-cam.com/video/UrkaMesJ7R0/v-deo.html 3:24 Kyung Wha Chung ua-cam.com/video/oelcmJ13HDU/v-deo.html 3:17 Nigel Kennedy ua-cam.com/video/Q_iRiq0bzoY/v-deo.html 2:58 Rachel Barton Pine ua-cam.com/video/Q_iRiq0bzoY/v-deo.html
benny's signature is brahms. can immediately tell him from everyone else
Hadelich..Vengerov
Tretyakov?
By the way, Josef Gingold isn't there.
All of them are incredible, but I can't feel what I felt when I was able to play it.
What's with Garrett sitting at a stool like he's a cool dude at a bar having a drink?
Janine, maxim and Milstein have a a incredibly naturalness when they are playing. I love it! My favorites!!
The ultimate horror of this opening is seen clearly in Heifetz' version. It 's like someone is hesitant to jump into the darkness and finally when he has no choice he just let it go.
Fischer - definitely
These are all at an extremely high level. Artistically I gravitate toward Hahn 2021. But I have to agree with some others here - Milstein just stands out. That drive! That huge line! It's almost a different dimension of playing, at least in this short selection.
Vengerov all the way, you can here the tension being built.
David oistrack got the best in my opinion😭
No Ivry Gitlis? No Zino Francescatti? Why?
Look at henryk szeryngs performance, I think it’s one of the best
Fantastic Video! So lovely to hear the greatest violinists! I would also add one more - Henryk Szeryng. In my opinion, master of Brahms
Where is Henryk Szeryng ?
I think that you have to consider how well the soloist’s interpretation flows with the orchestra, if they go smooth and the soloist is too energetic or passionate the result wouldn’t be good, so we should be judging the complete output
Спасибо за интересное сравнение. На мой взгляд Натан Мильштейн интеллектуально всех переиграл (как всегда). Thank you for the interesting comparison. To my mind, Natan Milshtein overplayed intellectually everybody ( as always)
I really love Hahn's (2021) interpretation. I personally prefer it from the others, though all amazing! Her performance from 2023 gets even better.
Janine Jansen my fav
Menhuin for me, followed by Milstein and Oistrakh
Kristof Barati 🔝🔝🔝
Heifetz toujours inégalé. L’humble et glorieux respect de la partition. Brahms revit.
Why bo tetzlaff?? His opening is the best!
