Learning how to garden in the city of Richmond, VA. Growing everything from native wildflowers to vegetables and fruits. Trying to make a sustainable little homestead in RVA one step at a time.
Native Pollinator Garden | Mailed Burpee Plant Unboxing
Doing some work in my Native Pollinator Garden. I also ordered some plants from @BurpeeGardening for the first time. I've bought seeds from them in the past but I've never ordered live plants in the mail before so I thought I'd do an unboxing!

Переглядів 17 тис.Рік тому
I made a DIY backyard fire pit out of bricks a few years ago but now I'm going to be adding a rock seating area around the fire pit filled with pea gravel. TikTok: www.tiktok.com/@npc_life Twitter: _NPCLife #garden #firepit #diy #landscaping #gardening #rva #richmond

How big was the area you did for the circle?
Go Dukes!
How big was the area u did
Ive just started this video, but just wanted to say that you have beautiful hair!
Thanks, you helped me know how much pea gravel I need. Building the same thing, but reusing a trampoline frame to enclose the whole area with bench seating. Thinking I may video some of it like you have done. Great job!
Pea gravel can explode at high temps. Use only granite stone.
its the moisture inside pea gravel that may cause it to pop...the temperatures typically needed to cause this are Hundreds of degrees...if your chair is sitting on 200-300-400 degree pea gravel, you have worse things to think about. Dont put pea gravel INSIDE your pit, but outside it should be fine because the temperatures needed to cause it to pop are seriously unlikely.
Planting based on vibes alone, ahah! thats why my garden is a mess! Also, I put out those little signs this year too, but I move my plants around a lot. So they're useless. I also panic garden when I just throw seeds out in the rain in a panic and now I have seeds coming up that I don't recognize. I was taking care of a tree at one point thinking it was it was an herb. What zone are you in? I'm in zone 9 (TX)
I tried spreading out a giant pack of wildflower seeds one year to try and make a meadow grow. It just got out of control and I had to cut it down, but sometimes you just have to throw seeds out randomly! I’m in grow zone 7a (Richmond VA)
Good video. How many bags of pea gravel did y'all end up using?
Thanks! We ended up using 18 bags of pea gravel. In classic diy project tradition we didn’t buy enough the first time and had to make a second trip to Lowe’s
