Living full time vanlife in our motorhome "Raymond" since April 2021 with our rescue husky Nanook.
Raymond is an Elddis Encore 255.
Welcome to our channel.
Beautiful places to explore, motorhome and campervan stuff, and the ups and downs of living in a motorhome is what we're about.
Unfortunately, our gorgeous boy Nanook passed away on Thursday 8th June 2023 after a short battle with cancer and we were devastated.
We now have a rescue from Portugal named Wolfie. He is a husky and all sorts cross!
In March 2023, Helen bought a 1993 Talbot Express Autosleeper Symphony, as she can't drive Raymond due to driving restrictions.
She now travels solo in "The Nook" when Karl travels solo on his Honda Fireblade motorbike.

ALL ALONE!! SHOULD I STAY? Would YOU? Female Vanlife SCOTLAND. Pt 19. Exploring DUMFRIES & GALLOWAY.
#solofemalevanlife #portpatrick #stairhaven #vanlifescotland #scotland #dumfriesandgalloway #campervan #talbot
Solo female, travelling around Scotland in a 31 year old Talbot Express campervan with her rescue dog Wolfie. No campsites, hopefully, just off grid and using the facilities provided
Living in our Elddis Encore 255 motorhome "Raymond" since April 2021, when we went fulltime with our rescue husky Nanook, AKA Nookie Monster.
Unfortunately, Nanook passed away in June 2023, after a short battle with cancer and we have been heartbroken by his loss.
We now have a husky cross rescue called Wolfie. Wolfie was found wandering the streets of Portugal and was in kennels for over two years. We couldn't let him stay in kennels any longer, so we adopted him.
Helen has a 1993 Talbot Express Autosleeper Symphony, as she can't drive Raymond due to driving restrictions.
She travels solo in "The Nook" when Karl travels solo on his Honda Fireblade motorbike.
We plan to show you the magic of nature and the beauty of places, regardless of the time of year.
We do show the ups & downs of vanlife too and we also show motorhome related content.

Nice video guys. I’m heading to wales in Feb. Do you mind if I ask what drone you’re using? Thanks
Hi. It's a Mavic Air 2. Wales is beautiful and Elan Valley is well worth the visit. It is stunning.
When will you and Carl be traveling together?
We've just done a month in Scotland together, but I'm way behind on editing at the minute. I had a death in the family, then we left for Scotland and now with Christmas, it's all been a bit hectic! Have a good Christmas😊🎄
Cor blimey G'vnor!
@blakes4ontour all good fun eh.
Whoa what a hoollie!!!! Yikes, I saw Stephen Vlog too wow!!! 🤩 🏴👍🐕🦺🐕🦺🇺🇸🏈😍🌅🏴🌵🌵
It's been awful, and a tree came down by the kids, where I normally park the car. Luckily, cos Raymond isn't on the drive, the car was put on the drive, otherwise it would have been squashed by the falling tree!
@ omg so happy Raymond is ok 👍 wow
It’s a bit windy! Hope you don’t have a crap nights sleep 😮
Karls there on his own, I'm at the kids. I think he needs a new bike cover lol.
@ yep! 👍🏼
Hope you are all safe? Its been pretty bad since last night here only started to ease off now🙏
Karl is down there on his own and I'm at the kids. He said it was really bad between 3am and 4.30am. It's eased a bit but it's still windy. It's windy in Kiddy too and there's been trees blown down and the lights have been flickering.
Yes the coasts and down around your area are getting the worse of it. Fallen trees seem to be the most lethal hazard at present and doesn't bode well for safe travelling. At least you and the kids are staying put safely but I hope Karl parks up and doesn't drive until the wind dies down and is more reasonable🙏. Who knows what trees have been weakened and may still pose a risk?
@patriciayassin2983 no, he's definitely been staying put. He said a few vans moved in the night, but he said it was more dangerous to move in those winds. He's staying put til Monday.
Very wise 👌
Bonjour, hard to find in france....Possible to get one from the UK in fairly good condition? ^=^
Hello! There are still a fair few around in the UK, but best to see with your own eyes, especially underneath. Mine had been undersealed by the original owner from new, so it's done really well. It's recently had welding done around the window, which is common, but a part from that, it's a good van.
You always find the most beautiful and interesting places on your adventures. Thanks for some really great filming on this one , Wolfie looks super comfortable with your adventures and the travelling. Must watch to see if you stayed 😍.Take care and Byyyyeeee 👍🚐
Thanks Eric. Dumfries and Galloway does get overlooked, but it is a beautiful part of Scotland. Wolfie is a lovely boy. 💜🐾🏴
😂😂😂
Cute ❤
Lovely couple of stops - liked the grass one which I assume is close to the services spot Take care
The grass one is on the road to Port William and the services are at Stairhaven and they are free. Also free services at New England Bay too.
Adorable and up close sweet Helen!!! 🍗🦃🇬🇧🏴😍🎅🏴🍁🐿️🐕🦺
He was. He kept coming over then swimming away. It was amazing.😊
Hi Helen, lovely video as usual. lt really is a pity they don't let overnights in these beautiful places.Best wishes to you and Karl.😊
Thanks both. Sorry for the late reply. UA-cam held the comment for review for some strange reason. Hope you're both well. 😊
Hi Helen, lovely video again and i am on the edge of my sofa waiting to see if you stayed 😅. I watched this a few days ago on my tv, so had to look again and, of course, write a few words! 😊. The sun makes such a difference, mind you your snowy shorts have been epic 😅 All the best.
Hello Martin. Well thank you for watching twice 😁 Only two Scotland ones left and then I'm on to different adventures. The sun does always make a difference but the snow has been great. All gone now though.
@roaminginraymond Can't see when my next adventure might be, poor Benson 😕
@BentleyOnTour I can imagine. I've sorned my van and may do for December too.
@@roaminginraymond Do you have a cover for it or just leave to the elements?
@BentleyOnTour I leave it to the elements. I've never actually sorned it before but as I was with Karl for a month it seemed a waste of 30 quid. I'll be putting the diesel heater on in there when we get back and check all is well.🤞
Been parked beside you twice past two days Stranraer
Oh right lol. We have been visiting friends who live there and there isn't room to park outside theirs. Never explored Stranraer before, but it's a lovely and friendly town.
Some lovely places you went there Helen, did you bottle it though, look forward to finding out, wolfie and his stick dance was lovely to see, safe travels 👊👍🥰🚌🏴
Thanks Ste. Wolfie does love his sticks lol. You'll find out on the next one, when I've edited it 😆
@ I have so much editing to do it will take me a month or two lol, at least we have power now, are you guys still in Scotland? Or back at the kids, either way take care and stay warm and have a good week guys 🙏👍👊🥰🚌🏴🥶🌨️🐕
@wanderingbychoice yeah, it's always good to be on hook up and get everything charged up. I get my power banks and vacuum charged and then cook everything on the airfryer lol. Gotta make the most of it when you have it. We are in Stranraer seeing friends, the ones you met at New England Bay and then should be back at the kids the weekend. We both have health appointments to get to. Real life always gets in the way, but I'll be glad to see my kids and family again. Safe travels you three. xx
@ say hi from us, so nice to be able to have lights on and things whenever you want, it was nice to see our granddaughter as we miss her when we go off, have a safe trip and enjoy your time in Stranraer, all the best and safe travels you three..👍👊🥰🚌🏴
@wanderingbychoice thanks Ste. It is hard when you have family. Enjoy the rest of your travels.
It's a shame you can't stay at Stairhaven innit! We wondered if you were gonna stay at that golf course place. It was heaving when we looked there in the summer! We've got a photo of a certain monkey with the Gavin Maxwell otter!!!!! Byyyyyyyyyyyeeeeeeeeee
Ha ha, I can't believe it was so empty cos it was June and pretty sunny. Mad eh. Well Monkey had to have his selfie lol.
Enjoyed your video we love that park up, have spent a few nights at that spot as I have a cousin very close to it. Mrs C said you are very brave parking up on your own. 👋
Aw, thank Mrs C for her very kind words. I do get nervous on my own but sometimes you have to be brave lol. Although I am a wuss!😆 It is a cracking spot though.
Hola Helen. You are very brave parking on your own- then again Woolie is with you. I'm a bit scared of solo camper vanning. It was beautiful where you are in the video though. I'm deffo a camper van buddy-Id rather bimble in company. Much respect🙏- Kenny
Hello Kenny and thank you. It's not easy. I'm not a fan of loads of vans, but then being completely alone is daunting too, especially being a lone female and having to get the dog out last thing at night. That's when I'm most nervous. Hope you're well Kenny.😊
Lovely film, safe travels. All the best. 👍🚐🐾🐾😎🏴
Thanks very much Rob. 🐾🏴💜
great part of the world enjoy ,cheers sam
Yes, Dumfries and Galloway gets overlooked, but it's beautiful. Thanks for the comment Sam.
Lovely places and views. Loved the otter! And of course Wolfie❤
The otter was great. Yes, Wolfie is a very lovely boy. You'll be able to see him soon Mand. 💜🐾
Lovely vlog Helen brang back some nice memories of my winter in D&G 2 years ago Wolfie will protect you Alone Hugz. Stay Cozy ATB 👊🏴🐶🦋🐾🚐🥰
Thanks Stephen. It can be daunting, especially being a woman, but I'll get used to it. Yes, D&G is a very beautiful place.
I fancy a wee dram 🥃 😃 nice area! Interesting sculpture of the otter! 🦦
The stuff made from the barrels was really good. The otter place was really nice and no-one else there.
What a beautiful spot, I think you are brilliant travelling on your own with Wolfie.
Thank you so much Mary. I do get very nervous sometimes, but the daylight hours in Scotland at that time of year make it so much easier. I'm not very brave really.
@@roaminginraymond Bless you Helen xxx
😊❤️
Gorgeous sea side views. Keep vanlife up your doing awesome and Wolfe too lol 😂👌😊😍🇬🇧😂👍🏴🐾🏴🥰🐕🦺🦴🇺🇸🦌
Thanks Kimberley.😊
Scotland is breath taking!🇬🇧🏴🐾🏴👍🥰🐕🦺🦴🦌🇺🇸
Believe it or not, it's in England, not Scotland. It's in the Lake District which is a stunning area. You should go if you get chance. xx
When I first started van life, park near others, but then look out at midnight and I was only one. What am I missing has the world ended? You soon get used to it. Don’t worry.
I'm not a fan of the dark, but luckily it never got that dark lol. I feel more vulnerable being female and alone, and I'm a natural born worrier too! But, you have to get used to it for certain.
All places we are planning to be over Christmas and New Year. I hope you stayed.
You'll find out on the next one lol.
Lovely Helen so peaceful take care my lovelys ❤
Thanks Charlie. Dumfries and Galloway is great as you know.😊🏴
I can feel the force!!😄
😆 bet it's even better now after all the snow and rain.
I got to meet Murdo never buster
Buster was the sheep in the field with Murdo, but he didn't come over when we were there, he just chilled in the sunshine as it was quite a warm day in the sun.
Ohh I did see him. I'm over in Carnoosie and drove up there I had seen him, although Murdo was a wee bit more memorable.
Mate. Thank God for that. You've saved my sanity
Lol, you're welcome.
That's heartbreaking, couldn't they bring them indoors? 😢
I did think they could build them a proper barn type shelter myself maybe, or even take them to a rescue who would accommodate them and look after them, like Hillside in Norfolk. But I don't know if it would have been possible. It is really sad. We were only there a couple of weeks ago and I think Murdo was the main reason people visited there.
No that’s awful news, so glad we saw them, heartbreaking 💔 🥲🥲🥲
Yes, very sad. Made me cry, but I'm a big softie.😢💜
Wipers are a pain when they fail … happened on Harry …. Lovely stone surprise …. Very kind What a beautiful area
Yeah, definitely a pain. It's the second time it's happened. Glen Trool is beautiful a part from the midges. Winter is definitely the best time to go lol.
Sad wow 🤩 heartbreaking 💔
It is Kimberley. I was only feeding him an apple when we were there a week ago. Think he was the main attraction there for people visiting.
Such gentle animals. RIP Murdo and Buster
Yes. Such a very sad thing. We were only there about 10 days ago. They said he would never make it to double figures and he was 10 in June, so he did well. Made me cry, but I'm a big softie when it comes to animals.
@@roaminginraymond I am a big softie too Helen, I hate it when animals die, its horrible xxx
@maryfennell9672 🥰💜
Awww 😢 Murdo was so friendly. I knew he wasn't keeping too well especially his legs but lasted a lot longer and lived a better life than had been predicted from an early age. I suppose it was the kindest thing for both of them as Buster was elderly for a sheep and the intense cold there probably would have made him suffer. RIP to them both in animal heaven ❤
RIP MURDO the HIGHLAND COO and Buster the Sheep at Castle Roy, near Nethybridge. The cold weather was going to be too much for you.😢😢
Rip. I'm so glad I got to meet them both.😢❤
Treats for your wolfie, maybe an ice cream!!! 🍦 cheers you three!!!
Aw, Kimberley, you really are so very, very kind.❤️ We will definitely get Wolfie some treats and maybe a piece of cake for my birthday on Friday lol. It's too cold for ice cream, unfortunately.😆 Keep in touch. xx
@ happy birthday 🎈🎂🎉🎁🎊 all the best, yes a cake will taste better too cold for ice cream. 🍨
@Kimberley-Z definitely lol. We have lots of snow at the minute so Karls happy cos he loves it.😊
What a amazing thing for some one to do for you both x Well done Jayne 😘 🏴 those stunning stones x 🦋 Thats really so so special luv it Hugz both #teambrummies ATB 👊🦋👍🏴🐾🚐🥰🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾 Bless ya Nookie 🐾🥲🥲🥲xx
Hello Stephen. Finally found your comment lol. It was held for review but has only just shown. Stay safe in these predicted winds. Hugs both.
That was lovely of that lady to paint those stones. And then Nooks fave place. Xxxx
Yeah, very kind of her. Glen Trool is beautiful.
Stunning place, loved those pained stones. All the best, Webby 👍
Yes, the stones were very thoughtful. Glentrool is very beautiful. Thanks for the watch and comment Webby.🙂
Dream team are in the same lay-by lol 😂 hood to see you back on the road in Raymond. Otherwise it’s like Morecambe without Wise - Abott without Costello - Dudley without the zoom or Tipton without a shopping trolley in the canal lol😂😂😂😂 Good little lay-by that and one we stayed in before going to Ireland on the ferry
Ha ha, very good Stew 🤣🤣 It is a good layby and definitely good for getting the ferry.
Those stones are lovely and a fitting tribute to your wonderful Nanouk, looks a great place guys, one for our next adventure in Scotland me thinks, hope it’s going well up north , safe travels you three 👊👍🥰🏴🚌
Thanks Ste. We went up to Duncansby yesterday, but the wind was so bad we had to move on. We walked to the stacks, the wind blew the fluffy bit off my mic, it blew off my woolly hat, but Karl managed to get it back. It was rough up there. Currently still have 50mph, rain and sleet. Are you in the snow zone or are you more south? Least we have had two weeks of dry weather and even sunshine, so we can't really complain lol.
@ sorry for late response Helen, we are in Perthshire till tomorrow, some snow on the peak, heading south towards Kirkcaldy for a few days, good on yer Karl for rescuing the hat, been nice here but very cold, we had ice inside last night when the condensation froze lol, I have a recommendation for you guys, loch garten osprey centre, you might have been but it’s a great park up, stunning walks and scenery and fantastic at night really quiet and not busy at all, enjoy your week guys and stay safe please 👊👍🥰🏴🚌
@wanderingbychoice hope we don't get ice on the inside lol. We did Loch Garten before Castle Roy and have been twice before. It really is a beautiful place. That's where I had coal tits eating out of my hand a few years back. We forgot the bird food this year though! Never saw any red squirrels there this year either. Glad you got to go there though. We did Nooks ashes in the bay there as we sat there on the rocks with him in warmer weather.
@ That’s great what a lovely place to put nooks ashes, we loved it there as did chancer, we visited the motorhome mums not far from there for a night, then needed a good drive for the batteries, and now we need another one, think our batteries might be dying or they need to go on hook up for a week lol, back to Abington base camp next Monday so should be ok, my brain needs a rest from search for sites…👊👍🥰🏴🚌
It is hard with the batteries. We've got a B2B charger, but it's still not great at this time of year with no hook up. It's a struggle off grid in the winter, especially in Scotland cos the days are just that little bit shorter.
Hello folks great to see you both!!! With your wolfie!!! Heading to Scotland end of march!! Got our tickets finally. 🏴🙏🐕🦺😍🏴👍🌵😊
