Hero’s slot machine is not fully random, it will never be any of the moves in the previous cycle, the only way for the same move to be played twice in a row from his slots is to use it then get lucky or unlucky with hocus pocus

At first I thought there was a mechanical reason why one half of a ditto is stronger than the other. You know, like in Brawl. Where the Snake ditto is mechanically uneven. Oh yeah, Brawl has a mechanically uneven ditto matchup.

I never understood the mentality of the "better player" winning dittos. Just because you know how to use your character offensively doesn't mean you just know how to deal with them defensively, even if both players have the exact same tools. Both sides have vastly different mental processes and player individuality throws a massive wrench into that as well. This issue is even worse for people who play mid or bottom tiers since there are even less opportunities for dittos and thus, less opportunities to learn how to fight against your own character

You don't understand match-up numbers. They are done assuming both players are very good and equally skilled. Also, dittos are always 50:50. Even if X character destroys themselves in a ditto, that wouldn't change the 50:50 match-up. If one character can destroy themselves in the ditto, well... so can the other character. They are the same character, after all. It's always 50:50. It doesn't matter if one player is higher ranked, more skilled, not feeling well that day, nervous about having to play a ditto, etc.. None of that is a factor in determining match-ups because they assume the players are perfectly equal. It's a character match-up; not a player match-up. By the way, tier lists are the same logic. They are about comparing the characters themselves and not about the players at all.

4th factor you've missed: that player is the underdog because of their positioning in this game, but are rising because they play real fighting games a blazblue player by example on some matchups is going to get to 50/50 in days or even hours, the high known player has experience on 90 chars, and that makes them strong, until a mirror with better moves

Shit, I’ve noticed this phenomenon in my own goddamn games. I usually main Toon Link and use Pythra, Chrom, Young Link, and Byleth as my secondaries, and I can usually beat my buddy Jake with them, but when he picks them for a ditto the fights get _way_ harder, to the point where I can almost always beat him with Pythra _unless he_ picked Pythra, then I get curbstomped I’m only a couple minutes in but I think it has to do with the difference between playing _as_ a character and playing _against_ a character, which are two different skills, and you’re not as likely to fight your main and thus not as likely to build the skill needed to fight your main, because you’re too busy fighting _as_ your main

you can tell which characters were kinda half assed or rushed with bland movesets and which characters were given 40 unique attacks in one and sprinkled with love
